Bucs Dugout Just how long has Bob Nutting been pulling the strings?

They/He likes  people to believe  he's only been involved the past 3 "glorious" years which they have lost 95 games, 99 games, and 100+ games, when in fact the name Nutting has been associated with this team for 14 of the 18 losing seasons.   From the postgazette article someone earlier today posted (Jan 27, 2007 - Dejan) http://postgazette.com/pg/07013/753573-63.stm   "Mr. McClatchy said he initiated the move by raising the subject with Mr. Selig two months ago, explaining that he hoped to establish "some clarity" about the Pirates' ownership. Mr. Nutting already had the last say on all matters but, because of the Nutting family's seemingly deep and genuine respect for Mr. McClatchy, it was Mr. McClatchy who continued to represent the team in MLB affairs and in public."   additionally, 3 Nuttings and their CFO (4 Nuttings) are on the board calling ALL the shots, so spare me the "the board makes decisions/he has to report to the board " nonsense   As you can see, it is much more complicated and sinister than Bobby would like you all to think.  He has been lurking behind the scenes calling the shots much, much longer than any of you here would like to think.   Enjoy the hot dogs.

Bucs Dugout propaganda machine at work - "promising future"

Nutting & Regime basically work on the (roughly) four year cycle system.

That is ....Every four to five years they come up with a list of prospects (in most cases Problem Prospects).

They begin their little propaganda game by anointing these players as the "new future" of the Pittsburgh Pirates....or (as most recently heard) The New Dynasty.

Within two years (as the salaries creep up so slightly) they begin dismantling the core. They poke holes in the skills of certain players, quietly label them trouble makers, or whatever else they can dream up to justify the giveaway.

Within the four to five year period....Poof!....They're gone!!

Let's take a brief look at some examples:

'97...Jose Guillen, Freddy Garcia, Ron Wright, Tony Womack, Rich Loiselle, Midre Cummings

'00...Brian Giles, Kevin Young, Warren Morris, Aramis Ramirez, Chad Hermanson, Kris Benson, Jose Silva

'04...Jack Wilson, JJ Davis, Jose Bautista, Oliver Perez, Kip Wells, John Van Benshcoten, Tike Redman

'08...Jason Bay, Xavier Nady, Freddie Sanchez, Nate McLouth, Matt Capps, Zach Duke, Paul Maholm

Pro Nutters - Before you try to tell me these players had no potential, were never any good, etc....Don't bother.

I have followed the Pirates diligently, and I've been fed the potential of all of these players by the Nutting Regime.

And ....20/20 is hindsight.

All of these players were projected no differently than McCutchen, Tabata, Walker, etc.

Anyone that says differently was not aware of the situation at the time....Or they are stretching the truth.

I will say that many of them (early in their career) were on teams that finished with a better record than this present team.

It's now a new round of this little game....And be prepared to see it torn apart sooner than you expect.

Welcome to the latest cycle!

Bucs Dugout Bad Deal Neal

Many (especially the apologists on this site)  like to give Neal a pass due to the "barren system DL left him".  The system may have been barren, but if NH has done the wonders so many tout, then why is Morton, Duke, Maholm, Oli, etc still pitching???

Yes.  I know "it takes more than 3 years".  Please no one.... not even me is asking for playoffs yet.  Simply an improvement.  Each year under Neal has been worse!

---------------------

keep in mind that not only does this record stink,  but many Nutters  proclaimed that after the break, core #3 would have a .500 season the rest of the way. ---Despite telling everyone within earshot how knowledgeable you are, YOU ALL WERE WRONG!

Get ready to hear about Next years huge improvement all off season while adding NOTHING of significance to the roster.  What you see now is what you'll get next year.  Will they lose 110 games next year?  The odds are against that, so they may only lose 100, but it will be more crappy baseball with a ridiculously low payroll......more dumb statements from the owner and FO folks and more empty promises which some "fans" buy into.............

----------------

Anyone who didn't see this season playing out like has either had their head in the sand or quite frankly doesn't know sports.

Starting the season with  a sub-40 million payroll which included Morton (and his "great stuff"), clement, a gimpy, fat 2nd baseman w/o a physical, Andy L, and Cedeno, just to name a few, has disaster written all over the season.

As I have written before, the x-Atlanta pitching coach basically laughed at Vinnie on the Fan when he mentioned Morton's upside, and said...... Morton was expendable with us and he has a future as a #5 guy at best.

Excuse me for being skeptical about the Pirates evaluation of talent, but I think I'll go with the Braves coach.  Plus, stating 3 innings pitched while giving up 6 runs is an improvement or some sort of a "win" destroys the tiny bit of credibility the team has left.

This team Stinks!

Enjoy the peanuts!

Bucs Dugout Nutting has no shame!

The Nutting Pirates should be ashamed running out that pitiful team, day after day, while selling tickets by using the great Maz and 1960 team as a marketing ploy.

The good to come of honoring Maz, was the fact that bozo Bob Nutting was boo'd.  What an embarassment!

I said before the year began that I knew this would be the worst PIrate team in my lifetime, but it could be the  worst Pirate team EVER.  It looks like that just may happen.

And lets remember folks.  What you see is what you'll get next year.  Cheap payroll, minor league talent, and cold   and stale buns.

Look out 2020!

Bucs Dugout Can the team get any worse?

Can this team get any worse

In short....... No!  Last night looking like a T-ball team

Why do so many of you believe brighter days are ahead when this is essentially what  ( the 3rd"core") you will be watching next year?  Neal also already stated that the fans should not expect any big FA signings, so essentially what you see is what you get next year.  100+ losses

Please.  When you respond, try not to use the following:

Words like - Should, project to be, learn, chemistry, could.

Give me concrete reasons.

I was thinking on the way to work today as I was replaying yet another embarrassing loss in my head and reading this DK's take this morning.  - the fans actually laughing at the piss-poor defense Nuttings team displayed.   Pitt has essentially rebuilt an entire football program from scratch in the same amount of time  that Neal is still fooling around with 100 losses....... Just saying.

"The Picksburg Pirates...... Rebuilding since 1992"
