The Clawfense? it's just not what we needed,,,,,,Oops
I believe that Dave knows time is short. He was chosen due to a spread offense that looked amazing on paper. How many of the Vol Nation’s faithful would not have jumped on that. It is a paper tiger. You would have to have at least two years to implement it and with athletes that can take it and put it on the field. I guess as supporters and fans, we are paying for that lemon. Look at Auburn, they tried, failed and eventually went back to playing football. Oh, by the way,,,,,,, they got rid of their offensive wonderboy. Forget firing Phil. He didn’t choose the lemon, he is just making some really crappy lemonade. Phillip Fulmer is our coach. Look at the numbers when a great coordinator is on the “field” not in the box. Dave Clawson, dont’ worry, you can be a coach back in I-AA anytime. Don’t drag a respectable coach down with your predictable, flawed, inconceivable, and worthless playbook. C’mon Phil, grow some and get the “clawfense” out of the box, and on the way back to I-AA. Find a coordinator and get him on board to salvage next year. That my fellow Volunteer fans is the only way. Do you really want to have next year be the same as Ron Zook's first year, or the Ole Ball Coach's first year at South Carolina????? Bring an offensive coordinator and start him NOW>>>>>> Or believe me you will see more empty seats every game until next fall.....
The bandwagon's wheels fell off for me today!!!!
If anyone has Mr. Hamiltons ear forward this onto him. He hasn't returned any E-Mails from fans lately.
Just everyone calm down and look at that light at the end of the Tunnel. That's not a train or St. Peter calling...........That is opportunity. As a Fan/supporter/critic, I think everyone should look toward the future. Everyone I know is calling for Fulmers job, not thinking about the future. I say that if you look closely at the situation and stand back you will see the underlying problem with UT football. Our team has what I refer to as crainial rectumitis. We cannot win with a Offensive Co-ordinator who is predictable. We cannot win with a defense that is on the field for 40 minutes a game. Offense, not defense (with the excetion of this year) is what puts points on the board. We need a recruiting class that includes a quaterback who isn't afraid of failure, getting sacked, or making a mistake. Cutcliffe was a master at this. He took Erik Ainge and made him a decent QB for the last year he played. We don't need another QB like that.....WE need another offensive coordinator. Give the "Clawfense" credit, he did a fine job at that 1-AA school he was at. At that level you can make mistakes due to the talent you put on the field. You however CANNOT do that in the SEC. Bring in a coordinator that has the 1-A experience, someone who knows what pressure is. Nowhere have I seen an article that blames the true problem, the choosing of Dave C. over several coaches that were a better candidate. Yes, we all make bad choices from time to time, and God knows this was one of Phil's biggest (other than starting Crompton) faux pas. Let Phil have another year, get rid of that sack of useless plays in the booth and bring in some freshness to take the stale out of the playbook. Fulmer has worked hard at this school, for MANY years, and should not be skewered due to this issue. Do you think anyone would work harder for UT? I think not.
Recruit a coordinator that can work with players, like Chavis. Recruit players who will work with coordinators. That is a winning combination. The head coach should stay and do what he does best, run the team..........That's just my opinion........
