BREAKING NEWS: THIS JUST IN, PETER KING SAYS TONY DUNGY NOT INTERESTED IN COACHING THE HORNETS.
Now on with your regularly scheduled day. You haven't had some PK/TD updates in a few minutes, so I thought I'd keep you up to date.

NFL, NFLPA meet on Saints bounty issue; Goodell OK with Parcells - NFL - SI.com

No criminal charges necessary | National Football Post
Yet another "expert" opinion.
That takes us a step closer to Parcells coming out of retirement, something that could take place in the next few weeks.
"If this guy says to me, 'Bill, I need you to do this,' " Parcells told Bob Glauber of Newsday. "That's what friends are supposed to be for."
STOP THE PRESSES!
Fines and suspensions are likely, and Goodell reiterated Wednesday that although he holds coaches and executives to a higher standard -- as proven by the hefty fines and suspensions of current and former Saints coaches and executives -- he is "troubled" by the players' roles.

I think I'm going to stop reading sports news articles. Ugh.
It has been a very bad week indeed for Loomis. Locked into a tougher-than-expected contract negotiation with the franchise's all-world quarterback, Drew Brees, Loomis, according to Yahoo! Sports, is reported to have characterized Brees as a "very good'' quarterback, rather than "great.'' With Brees as beloved as any athlete in the city's history -- the revered Archie Manning included -- word of that kind of stance leaking out is a public relations nightmare in the making. Good luck getting the Saints fans on your side against Brees, who could run for mayor and win in a landslide.
But for Loomis and Payton, the accountability should be at a level commensurate with their responsibility. They were in charge of this show, and they know what comes with being the men at the top.
You get the credit and the blame. And this time, there's nothing but blame to go around.
Hosting the Super Bowl
On to the 2012 season! On to the draft! Free agency! Mickey, sign Drew, Nicks, Colston!
But, can we overcome the Super Bowl hosting jinx? In the last 10 seasons, there's only been one host team that has had a winning season.

LSU tight end DeAngelo Peterson still trying to forget BCS disaster - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com
This seems to verify what "WhoDatSaintsLSU" posted 9 days ago.
"I just think, the offense, we didn't have a chance to put the ball in our playmakers hands to do something," Peterson said. The game plan that we had, that we were working on in the weeks before the game and everything, I don't think we used it. So, as for going to 'plan B,' that would have been 'plan B,' - the game plan that we planned for. I felt we were going to run all the plays we we'd been practicing up to that time for the game we really weren't calling none of it. We might call a couple of plays that we worked on, but as for the whole game plan I don't think we used it. I just think the playmakers on offense, they didn't really have a chance to make no plays. That's the big thing that bothers me. I feel like I could have done more to help the team move the ball, Russell Shepard feels the same way, Rueben Randle feels the same way, our other receivers feel the same way. That's the main thing, that we didn't have the opportunity."
This prevents the cheapie overtime loss, with one team running the kickoff back to the 30, then gaining 30 yards or so and kicking a field goal to win.

Calculating the BCS Standings: What will it take for Oklahoma State to jump Alabama? - Roll 'Bama Roll
Thorough calculations done over at RBR. Good read.
Stat of the Week
Noted New Orleans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has to be polishing up his drawing board this morning, figuring out what to draw on it. In the Saints' last two games, the defense has been awful. Against one struggling offensive team (Seattle, in the playoffs last year) and one superior one (Green Bay, on Thursday), here's how the Saints' defense fared in eight quarters combined:
Defensive points allowed: 76
Touchdowns allowed: 10
QB line: 49-of-70 (.700), 7 TD, 1 Int., 122.6 rating
Yards allowed: 814

Ok, does anyone remember Shyrone Carey selling tickets given to him for the BCS Championship game for the '03 season? What punishment was handed down?
I see four NFC teams that have a legit shot at winning the Super Bowl: the Giants, Eagles, Packers, Saints and Falcons.
You can't make up stuff this funny...FOUR teams...
1. Giants
2. Eagles
3. Packers
4. Saints
4again? Falcons
