Trade Idea to get Portland Chris Paul and Al Thornton

I've been messing around with the trade machine for a couple of hours and I just couldn't figure out a way that Portland could get Chris Paul. In the trade machine he has a poison pill provision (PPP) and it expires July 1st, 2009. Since there is no way I can simulate all the contracts for after this date I started reading the CBA to teach myself how to make trades.

Let me tell you, PPP and BYC players are a real headache to trade. So I came up with my first successful trade after learning how the system works.

The teams involved are Portland, New Orleans, Memphis and the LA Clippers:

4 team trade

There is probably no chance any of these teams would do it besides Portland. Although I wonder if the Clippers wouldn't be happy to get rid of Thornton since that will be Blake Griffen's spot when they draft him. The Hornets would end up saving money once Chris Paul's huge check needs to be sent out, but I'm not really sure if Memphis would want to take on two scrubs with the cap space they have.

This trade was mostly for fun, but I think it's at least interesting. Maybe KP will throw it out there on draft night. Sweeten the deal by throwing in some of those 2nd round draft picks.

This was posted on insidehoops after Brandon was named an all star. I think this is my favorite mix now. This has most of his best highlights from the year and has a great finish. He worked so hard this year and this is a nice tribute that explains why he is going to be playing in the All star game again. Leave a comment and rate the video so it gets more views.

Jerryd Bayless demanding a trade? [Edited: Incorrect Rumor]

[Edit by Dave: As of 2:30 this afternoon this has not been substantiated by any source, including people who have listened to the podcast of Mike and Mike. It is incorrect, as the author admitted it could be from the start. Absorb accordingly.]

So I hear on Mike and Mike Jerryd Bayless is frustrated with his playing time and wants out. This guy has not gotten any playing time unless the game has been a blow out. I think a guy like this needs to be more patient because our team is winning, but at the same time he may have a valid point. We are never going to know how good he is unless he gets out there and plays. Oden gets the chance, Batum gets the chance, why not Bayless?

Is the point guard spot so critical that we can't afford to give Bayless some minutes? Roy was backing up Blake when Sergio was sitting on the bench earlier in the season. We basically used Blake all game and when Rudy came in Roy moved over to the point.

Nate should never appeased Sergio in the first place. I don't care how much better Sergio has been than last year. Bayless deserves some run if Sergio can cry his way into the rotation.

Play Bayless. Batum, Oden, and Rudy have all been given the chances. It's time for another rookie to show what he has, and not just in garbage time.

Darius Miles might not play with Celtics

I was checking the rumors area on ESPN and I see that Sam Cassell will play one more year with the Celtics. I head over to realGM and read in a thread that Miles spot might have just been taken when Sam signs. Does this mean that Miles won't play? Or is he the 13th or 14th man already?

Here's a link:

15th roster spot taken by Cassell

I'm still trying to find a list of all signed players to see.

Which center would you rather have on your team Dime Poll

There is a poll over at http://dimemag.com/ that asks what player you would rather have on your team:

Greg Oden

Andrew Bynum

Andrew Bogut

Tyson Chandler

Chris Kaman

Andris Biedrins

I voted for Oden, duh. All the L*ker fans Bynum band wagoners must be pulling their hair out over Oden blowing him out of the water. Hopefully you guys will all contribute. It's on the right side bar on the main page, just go to Dimemag.com

Are the Blazers considering signing Steven Hill?

I just got back from the movies tonight at lloyd theatre. As I was coming out of the building I see Channying Frye talking with a few fans or some friends. Next to him was a pretty tall guy with a full head of hair, beard didn't seem too long. I sort of asked myself aloud is that Steven Hill and then he turned around and stared at me for a second. I think he might have been shocked I recognized him but I'm pretty sure it was him.

I had been out of town for about 10 days before last Sunday, so has there been any news about that last roster spot? Do the Blazers need a 3rd back up center? I would never guess Steven Hill and Channing Frye hang out.
