My apologies for not being up to par on putting up a Wildcat Weekly after a very crucial victory in Carolina. To be honest, graduating college isn't as easy as I thought it would be, plus I was a bit down after that tough loss to Buffalo. But how about beating the Patriots at their own game Sunday! We hung in there and Chad Henne eclipses the 300 mark and throws for 2 scores. If Henne outshined Brady and Vontae outshined Moss, then hell, I'm pretty damn excited for the future.

Handing the Pats their first consecutive loss streak in three years sure feels good. Yes, we hate the Jets, but I love knowing that we are the team that gives New England the most trouble. I mean, if we can beat them (and it feels like we beat them every year) we can beat anybody right? We get this swagger after a victory like that, even makes me just want to scream "I'm the Juggernaut bitch!" to anybody in a Patriot jersey. Crazy how, the Patriots have not won a road game in the country this year, while the Fins are 5-0 in December under Sparano.

One of the few times, we were happy he was NOT sacked.

What impressed me Sunday...

The Pats gave the ball over twice in the red zone, we converted on two fourth downs that led to scores.

We got pressure when we needed to and they didn't.

Henne is one resilient ~~robot~~ man. The dude makes some bonerific throws. Every week he makes an awesome throw that makes me gotta have more Henne! I mean the TD pass to Hartline was a throw only 5% of QB's out there can make. And he loves that cutback route on a roll out on fourth down to Camarillo. I loved watching Pennington, but I feel alot happier having Henne in there on 3rd and 8's because I feel that he will convert it 9/10 times. I don't know about you but I'm willing to bet our conversion percentage on 3rd and more than 5 is probably 2 times higher than last year.

VD is otherworldly. How the heck did he catch this!?

Quick Hits:

The Indianapolis Colts have 113 wins this decade (2000-2009), tying the Niners of the 90's and 3 wins above the Patriots this decade as well. If, and WHEN, they win one of their next four games they will have the most wins EVER in a 10 year period. This is what happens when you have a franchise QB like Peyton Manning. Gotta be happy that we might have a great QB in the future as well. The Dolphins of the 70's have 109 wins, BTW.
If Tim Tebow's tears cure cancer, then the world might be saved after Saturday's SEC Championship. Honestly, I know your a competitor Tim, but hold it together. Your college team is arguably the best ever, you've lost like 5 times in your life, you have won the Heisman Trophy and will soon make millions in the NFL. And have you seen your girlfriend, bro? She's effing angelic. In fact, if you weren't so PERFECT you'd say SCREW football and sit and home and play with those funbags like a cat batting at string. Showing glory to God is one thing, but I think even Jesus thinks you're retarded.
You may have heard that Tom Brady and Gisele welcomed a baby boy Tuesday. But in other under the radar news, the paternity test is official, Vontae Davis IS Tom Brady's Daddy!

Wildcat Weekly Issue 4: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Current Record (4-5, 3-1)

A lot of emotions after a crazy, crazy week. Usually a victory against an in-state rival gets us a bit more exited. But, of course all this is partly due to the sad sad news coming Thursday evening.

To a fallen soldier!

Medic, Mosul, I need your help with this one. Ronnie, I love you man, but you gotta stop doing this to us, brother! I mean, at the end of the game and everything, this is too reminiscent. We all remember the last season you peaced on us. You left us to die as the laughing stock of the NFL! In fact, If it wasn't for Greg Camarillo, well, we won't even go there. Ronnie, you pulled a Ron Burgandy here and left all us in tears.

I guess this is Ricky's team now. So everybody, grab your favorite strand of sticky icky and light one in his honor. One love, my brother.

Last Sunday's game and looking forward to Carolina on a Thursday night can definitely be best described as the Good, The Bad, and the Very Very Ugly.

Listen, we know the BAD and UGLY of Week 10, but I'm gonna try to keep this a positive post and to avoid 'THE SKY IS FALLING' theme that is oh so common on our blog. We're not Cleveland, we'll make it through the negatives. Yes, we barely beat a 1 win team after collapsing in the 4th. Yes, we made a unthinkable INT with minutes left in the final quarter. But we fought through it, just like we will continue to fight for the rest of our season. Since Henne has started, he's 4-2 with losses coming against New England and New Orleans. He's also had 2 game winnning drives. Not bad for any QB IMO. Opposing teams, don't think we're bending over like Brady and letting us you rail us for the remainder of the season! This is why I'm gonna focus on the good for the remainder of my post.

THE GOOD:

We won our game and the rest of our division lost. This is HUGE, and anytime it happens we need to appreciate it!

The Bills, who never really were a threat in the first place, are in shambles. Getting a Big F U in Tennesee and then your head coach getting canned. Yikes!

New England had the arguably best team in football all wrapped up when Bill Belicheck flexed his giant ego and tried to do the usual act of "I've got the biggest balls in football". He may have the biggest balls, but maybe not the biggest brain, and needs to remember he doesn't have the greatest QB, the Colts do. Their schedule gets increasingly difficult and one can't help to look ahead at that Week 13 matchup in Miami that could be for the lead of the division.

And the Jets... where do I start? I guess I'll just be the bigger man and leave at the fact that Maurice Jones Drew felt too bad to score against your lowly defense. And Rex Ryan cried like a schoolboy bitch. And you've lost 5 of the last 6. And you play IN New England. And, Rex Ryan is beginning to look alot like Dick Jauron. But way, way fatter. I mean I could mention ANY of these things, but i'll take the high road. We all remember how trash talking ended up for Calvin Pace!

JT is still the real OG of Miami. It feels great. It's like the guy is Benjamin Button and never ages. Or Jack, but less hairier, u know?

Yes, it sucks putting Ronnie on IR. There's very little to be positive about here. However, we all knew how good he was, and we all knew in all honesty it probably wasn't our year to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy. In fact, we're realistically ATLEAST another year away from being a SERIOUS contender. This being said, let's say 2011 is our year; we can use this year to see how our young reserves will fare in the future. We already lost CP10, and we remember how much it hurt. But, looking back we can all probably agree that we're glad Henne got a shot, because CP wasn't the QB to take us to the ship, and we got to see that Henne could be that guy. Now you can't replace a Ronnie Brown, just like you can't replace a Gary Buttiere, but now that him and Cobbs are done in 2009, we need to see if Kory Sheets or Lex Hilliard can be valuable starters for our team moving forward. This is a great way to judge our depth at the RB position. Worst case scenario, and they don't impress, then we might look to the draft to draft a complementary back to Ricky and Ronnie who are accumulating alot of miles under their belts.

We're not the only one's banged up. Both Carolina's backs are questionable but probably will play. Jordan Gross, their top O-linemen is also on the IR and so is their best LB, Thomas Davis. Yes, going to Carolina is tough, especially because they have been playing well as of late. But if our D can focus on stopping the run and just contain Steve Smith I'm not scared of Jake Delhomme to beat us. Offensively, I think Ricky will hold his own but Henne will need to be a major factor in managing the game OUR WAY, if we want to walk out with a W. Having Ronnie out will allow us to experiment with some more aggressive styles so don't be surprised if Miami airs it out, and if Pat White is on the field early and often. I guarentee you this, we will MOST DEFINITELY learn alot about our team in the next few weeks.

As for Carolina, I hate to say it, but we desperately need to get to .500 if we want to make a run in the AFC, but their team is in the same boat and will make it a tough matchup. It should be a great game, and if we can squeak out a win without Ronnie we can put some pressure on New England! Let's go Fins!

Wildcat Weekly Issue 3: Swiffer Edition

Break out the brooms, bitches! It's funny how a Jet victory can cure all. I had a cold during Halloween and went to the doctor and his advice was to get some rest and watch the Dolphins beat up on the Jets, again. And what do you know, 2 1/2 teaspoons of Jason Taylor and Ted Ginn later, I felt like a new man. After a tough loss to the Saints, sweeping our most hated rivals and sending them spiraling into a whole notha' world of mess is about as good as watching people fall. Kind of crazy that our last 2 wins were against the one team we loathe the most. How great it is to see Sanchez on the sideline sulking. Don't get me wrong, it was ugly at times, but we hung in there and found ways to win in which I've never seen before. We might not be the best team in football - but sometimes it's hard to deny the magic that we see from our boys every gameday.

I have no idea what you're saying but YES, sweep the jets!

Division foreshadow

FishNFinz posted a nice little post on Monday you should check out just taking a ponder into our future for the rest of our schedule. He's planning on making it a weekly thing, and now that I shouted you out don't disappoint me, bro!!

Anyways, this week's battle at Foxborough brings Miami back into their comfort zone - you know the place where we shocked the world last year by completely bending over the Pats and making Belichick look as stupid as, well, Rex Ryan. The Dolphins are still in the hunt but let's all be a bit realistic... even though we have the 3rd easiest remaining schedule in the AFC East, I don't think 9-0 is a realistic goal. Sure, it's possible. But let's face it, we play 8 other teams who want to win too.

Unlike last week's victory, this game isn't necessarily a MUST WIN game. Believe me, it would be HUGE to walk out with a win, but as long as we split the series between the Pats, we are still VERY much alive. Let me repeat, for the Dolphins to make the playoffs this year they NEED to split or sweep the Pats and beat the Bills again up in Buffalo. This will put our division record at 5-1, or 6-0 (pending the Pats series) and will put us in control of our own destiny. If we beat the teams we are supposed to beat (see weeks 10-15), and beat the other playoff contenders (HOU and PIT) when we play them at home, I can easily see this team 10-6 with a 5-1 division record at the end of the year; but will it be good enough against the ALWAYS competitive AFC conference? THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME!

Where's the Pressure? A look at our LB's

There sure are a lot of things to praise about this year. How about our #1 ranked rushing offense and the fact that the wildcat continues to perplex opposing teams? How about the chosen one taking over for our fallen soldier CP10, and how about him winning 3 of his first 4 starts, with two coming against the Jets? The one thing that has to be a thought for improvement going into the future ,however, is our LB core. Trust me, I love all our guys, I mean where do you start? You got Peezy's popcorn muscles, JT's circle-punch and Channing's loud mouth! But watching the last couple games, I have realized that this is the one area where we may need to bring in some youth. Last week's game against the Jets showed good pressure in the first half and a whole lot of nothing in the second. In fact, if it wasn't for Ted 'The Savior' Ginn it could have gotten ugly very quick on Sunday. I think it has to do with age, JT and Porter are a pair of unbelievable play-makers, but they fatigue easily. As much as we would like to hope, they can't do this forever. We need to develop names such as Wake and Moses to be valuable substitutes to fill in when needed. Roth needs to be the player we know he could be, or get him out of there if he fails to produce. If they don't get the job done, then we need to find someone who does. Let's face it, in today's pass-first league, pressuring the opposing QB is one of the most important aspects of the game. We got some good names now but this is definitely the area that will make or break games; LB is a definite option to look in next year's draft to find that dynamic play-maker that we need.

In other completely under the radar news, I think we have found the WR the Dolphins have been desperately seeking. That's right, look no further than......

Below is a video of my UCF flag football team. We are currently 8-0 (2-0 playoffs) and are playing to beat out 83 other teams for the school's best. Monday night, we were up all game after a 7-0 TD, when we gave up a miracle TD catch and a 2 pt conversion with about 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter and were down 8-7. FML, I know. We had 30 seconds and 1 TO to drive the field and score to win it. After a defensive penalty and a great 30 yard catch it was 4th and long from the 30 when this play transpired..

1. You can see me line up late, wide as a slot WR on the right
2. Our QB takes the snap, looks right, jukes a defender and throws it deep left.
3. I, currently on the right corner of the endzone, BEELINE as fast as I can along the back of the endzone running 2x faster than I have ever ran in my life.
4. The ball lands ON the OB line, but not before I slide with my hands underneath it and with a knee down.
5. Our team erupts, biggest group hug I've ever been a part of (no homo) and sure we got a penalty but it was SO WORTH IT.

Note: We actually almost lost by a hail mary pass at the end (lol)but held out the win.
I was sick all weekend and still made the catch as well with an INT. MJ Who?
Our next game is Friday, we need to win 5 more games without a loss to win it all, wish us luck.

I'll keep it short so you don't blast me here.. but quick props to my New York Yankees for finishing up a great season. To all Yankees fans, what a year. To all the haters out there, I present you this picture... have fun with it.

Chambers a Chief!? Going to be crazy to see him in red, although it was probably smart we kept him off our squad though it would have been a little bit cool to see a reunion. The guy made some great catches in Miami, and an even cooler commercial, and definitely won us a few games single-handedly (Buffalo link).
I love how Sean Smith is publicly stating how he wants to make plays. First he says he predicts 3 INT's before the season started, and now he is talking more about his NEED to make the big play (link courtesy of Matty!). Meanwhile after a stellar preseason he is being outshined by fellow rookie corner Vontae Davis. But this guy could go quiet for 12 games and then get back to back pick sixes, he is THAT athletic. Overall I've been super impressed by both of these guys coming in DAY 1 and being asked to cover the best receivers in football!

I dedicate this issue of Wildcat Weekly to a fallen soldier. That's right, this goes out to Yitro, the loud mouth Jet fan who felt an urge to come to last week's WW and talk junk in Week 5 even after we beat his team down mercifully on MNF. Since then his team has been 1-4 with a loss to Buffalo, oh and yes, us AGAIN. KARMA is a bitch brother so I'd love to see you back but since you probably won't be back I'll just dedicate this pic to you.

Yitro, seek help, they have therapy for this kind of stuff.

And rightfully so, tying a NFL record for returning back to back 100+ yard kickoffs. Even ESPN honored him with the best play in their Top 10. Congrats to Teddy, no other player needed the confidence boost more then the burner from Ohio State.

Week 7 Power Rankings- The four classes

I believe Power Rankings are tough to do but i believe is alot easier to classify teams in 4 classes. No, I'm not talking Harry Potter guys, I'm talking about putting teams into the following...

Elite- These guys got what it takes. Any one of these teams can beat ANYBODY and a Super Bowl is in grasp.
Good- The good teams, can potentially knock off elite teams and should win the majority of their games. Losses don't come often, but these teams are missing either a few key positions or solid momentum from being a legitimate threat.
Middle of the Pack- These teams can beat good teams but lose to bad teams. Consistency is the key and you never know what your going to get. These teams have to fight and pray for a wild card spot.
Crap- These teams suck. Plain and simple. Playoffs won't happen so might as well start looking into next year's draft.
