NCAA set to announce "unprecedented" penalties against Penn State

""...when the NCAA announces what it called "corrective and punitive measures for The Pennsylvania State University"

Seattle Times, UW blog, having a poll on the Boise State game.

I can tell you that the day the game was announced, the people on the blog were like 95% against it being a good choice of team. However, in the poll they did at that time, 74% thought it was a good choice. I would expect this poll to be much the same. Just shows that blogs don't always accurately show what the fan base is really thinking. You can check it out and vote if you wish.

Boise State vs Washington game officially moved to Aug. 31, 2013

More early Bowl projections. Any bets on the Las Vegas Bowl?

If you're looking for a safe bet, the Las Vegas Bowl would be the way to go apparently.

New Recruit: Rocky Mountain O-lineman Eli McCullough commits to Boise State. D-linemen Alexander, and Jungblut leave program for Portland State and NAU respectively.

Eli also participated in track and field at Rocky Mountain. Shot and discus. beRecruited profile Already power cleaning 295lbs. That's pretty nice for a Jr in high school. Scout Profile This video wouldn't play for me because it said my Silverlight plug-in wasn't up to date, but it might play for you.

The bad news - Phil Steele ranks Boise State # 113th in % of yards returning.

The good news - Steele ranks Michigan State # 123 in % of yards returning. We win. Thanks Phil.

Joey Martarano Still solid on Boise State football

Joey says it would take a lot of money to get him away from BSU football. Good to hear it again because I'm really looking forward to seeing both him and Alec Dhaenens together on The Blue.

Kellen's 1st pro practice is in the books.

Quick OBNUGGIES, our local meatball Brian Murphy, needs your help.

In an attempt to be all inclusive BM blew a gasket, and missed by 50%. I'm going to assume this gaff occurred after some serious late night partying, which is what I'd claim, and a tight deadline. It could happen to anyone. Please read this BM quote and see if you can come up with a word or phrase that wouldn't have left out half the population, and help Murph get up off the turf. (Just having some fun Murph.) Brian Murphy describing the next BSU AD: " She must be a great judge of character and have tremendous energy. She must have integrity and run a program that doesn’t run afoul of NCAA rules. She must be able to cultivate donors — big and small — since that is one of the few ways to grow the Broncos’ budget. (I’m deliberately using she, not because the Broncos should automatically hire a woman, but because it seems silly to disqualify 50 percent of the population from this search.)" -- Brian Murphy Idaho Statesman

No Payne for BSU

A couple of months ago many of us were hoping to see Davien Payne run wild on the Blue. Now, all we can hope for is that he doesn't get trampled by Ralphie in a freak Buffalo stampede.

Now that the NFL lockout is over, who will be smart enough to sign Victor Aiyewa to a free agent contract? Someone should don't you think?

Doug Martin in at #56 in the Rivals Top 100 Player Countdown

I think I might have had him 20-30 slots higher, but I'm not real fair in such matters.

DE Kalei Auelua, and S Taylor Lagace, both held offers from BSU but committed to Washington today

I was hoping they'd check BSU out a little more, but on to the next recruits I guess. Lots of Safeties out there.

Dallas Burroughs to be in Sports Illustrated - "Faces In The Crowd"

SI will highlight Burroughs, accomplishments in football, and track. Here's a good look.

Keivarae Russell, of Mariner High in Everett, Wa. is one of my favorite RB's this year. Greg Biggins, covered the Nike Camp at UW this past weekend, and I was very surprised, and pleased to hear Russell still considering BSU. "I really liked him a lot," lead RBs coach Jake Campbell said. "He's a super athletic kid and plays with great spatial awareness. He's a smooth runner but is explosive in and out of his breaks and did really well in the blocking drills, showing some nice physicality." "On the recruiting front, Russell has double-digit offers and said Cal, Washington, Notre Dame and Boise State stand out right now. All have offered." Biggins Biggins full story

CB Donte Deayon commits

Ed's note: Nick Jezierny won't be taking this one away. Deayon confirmed the news himself a few hours ago. Deayon is the 3rd CB to verbal for the class of 2012—joining Marcus Rios and Chaz Anderson. Deayon, who hails from Summit High School in California was recently named MVP of defensive backs at Nike's Stanford Camp and is an absolute INT machine, recording 11 last year alone. Verbal commitments are non-binding until LOI day, but welcome aboard anyway, Donte!
