Berkeley native, been going to football games since I was 5. Now live in Portland, OR, where I get to watch the Bears mostly on TV, but get to the UO and OSU games (football, men's and women's BBall) when my kids don't have sports to play. I bleed Blue and Gold.

Cal v Iowa highlights
Highlight reel......or, highlight REAL!!!!!
I was going to call it Brittany Boyd's awesomeness video, but it really WAS a team effort. I only caught part of the game, so this was my best look. We looked awfully athletic next to Iowa, but ND will be a different story.
I LOVE the video production you see on the Cal Women's BBall site. Would love it if other sports had the same PR, especially softball. If you haven't seen it, check it out here.......great stuff.
Go Bears !!!!
No. 1/2 Cal Wrangles No. 21/22 Texas A&M 3-0
HONOLULU - With a three-run fifth inning, the No. 1/2 California softball team earned a crucial 3-0 win over No. 21/22 Texas A&M on Wednesday afternoon at Hawaii's Chevron Spring Fling.
The Golden Bears move to 22-0 overall, making them the only undefeated team on Oahu after No. 6 Texas defeated previously perfect Hawaii 4-0 on Tuesday evening. Texas A&M drops to 16-8. With the win over the Aggies, the Bears are now 5-11 against A&M in the all-time record.
Golden Bear Valerie Arioto makes USA Softball National Team

DeNesha Stallworth NOT coming back to Cal (no gloating opportunity for me....)
I'm sorry to report that, according to SF Gate, DeNesha won't be returning to Cal. While I'm much more disappointed about the impact to Cal than for the opportunity to gloat to you nay-sayers out their, I really would have made the most of that opportunity.
Sounds like she's off to the SEC..... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/05/01/SPEM1J9TLO.DTL
I'm sure you will all join me in wishing DeNesha the very best. I hope you'll go easy on me for hoping for hopeful things.
Update on Memorial Stadium project
At the Cal website there is an update on the Memorial Stadium construction ("Memorial Stadium Moves into Next Construction Phase"). The photo gallery pix are AMAZING, especially if you really didn't have the full concept of the scale of the project (like me). All that's left of the West side appears to be the outer wall.
It's gonna be a loud year for those International House students....

Go Bears! Go Memorial Stadium!
Cal Women: (lesser) smackdown of the Beavers in Corvallis
With all the glee and rejoicing of the men's game, I didn't want to lose sight of the fact that our Women's team won last night, too. Admittedly, the outcome of this game was much less in doubt given that OSU is 0-8 (now) in conference and have only about 2 scholarship players (in basketball, anyway; they recruited a 6'2" VBaller for help) who survived the LaVonda Wagner iceburg collision.

Ron Rivera named head coach of the Carolina Panthers !!!!!
Okay, this guy is awesome !!!! Check out the story here: http://www.calbears.com/sports/m-footbl/cal-m-footbl-body.html
Rivera was THE stud when I was a kid watching Cal football. I got his autograph numerous times. If memory serves, the big question was whether he or Jack Del Rio was the best Pac-10 linebacker. USC ran a fake punt, hiked it to JDR, who was quickly tackled by...........Big Ron. Case closed.
