BUC TO THE BONE

Feb 13, 2010 Feb 12, 2012 2 8

I moved to Tampa Bay to attend the great University of South Florida. After graduation I was lucky enough to find a job in the same area I have grown to love. Tampa Bay has been a wonderful home for me for the past 8 years. I love to watch USF sports and support my hometown Bucs no matter what phase of sucess they are having.

Bucs Nation The Buc Mindset

As a Buccaneer fan since the day I was blessed with the gift of life...I have come to realize that the off-season is when I get the most happy. From the minute free agency begins until Mr. Irrelevant is chosen; I get excited due to the thought of the unknown. Would we get a free agent to secure our defense? Who is that "X factor" that we need to really explode as an offense? I have realized that star power is not what Buc football is about. I ask each one of you if Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Barber or Lynch would have been as great as they were in other systems? Keyshawn got lucky getting a ring with us. My point is that it's the Buccaneer football I am used to has players that are great because they WANT to be great and the drive to get themselves there.

The most obscure players who are top tier athletes aren't what I would call "name brands" when they first came into the league, but because they believe in themselves more when everyone else. The best thing that we can do as fans is BELIEVE in whoever steps on that field. We should make them feel how much they mean to us because once they have our faith and loyalty, they will surprise us with an effort for which we haven't seen in a long time.

Hoping to bring in one or two established players to be leaders for these young men is a wonderful thought, but I hope we all will support our team regardless of what happens in the next couple of months.

I feel as though many have given up hope in this current team and all they need us to do is have faith and believe in them.

P.S. Can't wait for the draft!

Bucs Nation Free Agency Whirlwind

As all diehard football fans already know, today was the beginning of the free agent market. There have been many notable story lines so far from teams across the league, but so far the mention of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been only a whisper. What we know right now is Julius Peppers was signed by the Bears along with RB Chester Taylor. The Lions wasted no time taking Nate Burleson and LB Vanden Bosch. I for one am very excited our QB will no longer have to run for his life while facing Peppers. These are just a few of the top signings so far, but I want to know how the Bucs are positioning themselves to make an impact like they did last year by signing K2 as well as Ward. I almost forgot that the Jets acquired Cromartie for only a 3rd round pick.

Free agency is a long albeit stressful time for all fans because we want certain players that we think will have a positive impact on our team. I don't like to have a "Cinderella" scenario where we sign a plethora of "stud" players. What the Bucs need is 1 or 2 solid players that will help take our team to the playoffs.

I see that Antrel Rolle is meeting with teams while Aaron Kampman, Anquan Boldin, and Kevin Walter are all seeking other options. One of the greatest free agency needs in my opinion is a receiver in either Boldin or Walter.

My question for you all is: If the Bucs were to sign just 2 players in free agency, which players would be the best fit for our team from an all round standpoint?
