Obviously I'm a big bulls fan, always has been since the MJ years. My sport is basketball. I was a varsity player during my high school years and played sparingly during my college years.

Teams calling Houston on Courtney Lee keep getting same message: No big in deal, no trade. Will Bulls cave and give Omer Asik? So far, no.

[From the Fanshots. Nothing too new, but we needed a new post. Reminder, check out the SBNation storystream for the trade deadline often. -ed.]
Another player the Nuggets will likely move is shooting guard J.R. Smith(notes), who has drawn interest from the Chicago Bulls. Smith is making $6 million in the final year of his contract, and would love to end up with the Bulls, sources said. So far, Denver has resisted Chicago’s overtures on Smith because it may need to include him in a larger deal with Anthony. Bulls GM Gar Forman has been calling league personnel to do more research on the temperamental Smith, sources said.

Team U.S.A. vs Angola, Open Thread
Okay so it's the Round of 16 already. Spain, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey are onto the next round. Team USA are expected to beat this African Champs easily. The team conducted practice yesterday to avoid some sluggish play especially in the first half. They haven't had the opportunity to practice since their last exhibition game against Greece therefore, we'll see whether they will improve their play.
Here's to hoping that Rose will have his breakout game so far in this tournament. Share your thoughts in the comments below. Cheers!
Van Gundy: Heat will break Bulls' win record
I know the Heat will be strong next season but surpassing the '95-'96 Bulls' 72-10 record? I don't think so.
The Most Intriguing Off-Season Poll Question
Since there is nothing much going on in the NBA right now, specifically on the Bulls front, I thought this might provide BaBers something to ponder on.
As we all know, the Bulls are still in the hunt for another back-up SG to add to their already deep bench. Now, if the Bulls were only down to two choices and it happened to be Tracy McGrady and Delonte West. Who would you rather have the Bulls sign among the two? Both of them present troubling issues but still are very much capable of giving the team some quality minutes off the bench.
Fill free to vote on the poll and add any comments.

One name making the NBA rounds that Tom Thibodeau is considering for Pete Myers' replacement is former Bucks and Suns coach Terry Porter.
Portland Willing to Trade RUDY
Rudy Fernandez: "Portland is willing to make a trade and the truth is I'm pleased they want to do it. Now we have to find a team where I can have an important role or where I can find the dynamics I enjoyed in Portland the first year."
A Timberwolves executive says of Michael Beasley: "He's a very young and immature kid who smoked too much marijuana."
Iguodala-Clippers: A league source said Wednesday that the Clippers have asked about Philadelphia forward Andre Iguodala, though there was no indication that Los Angeles has made or will make an offer for Iguodala.
Shooting guard Ronnie Brewer has emerged as a very realistic option to return to Utah if the Jazz don't match the offer sheet that has been tendered by Portland on shooting guard Wesley Matthews. A representative of Brewer's agent, Henry Thomas, confirmed to FanHouse on Tuesday that Brewer is interested in returning to Utah, which traded him last February to Memphis. The representative said Brewer's camp has had discussions with the Jazz, but that Brewer only might land in Utah again if the team doesn't match the five-year, $33.4 million offer sheet on Matthews by Monday's deadline.
Just a topic to talk about while waiting for he PLAYOFFS!
Kudos to the Bulls for winning their last 3 games to secure them a spot for the playoffs and set a date with the clevelend cavaliers. Whatever happens in that series doesn't really matter as long as they made it in the playoffs. We all know that the goal for this season is to try to make an impression for the FAs this summer, right?.
There are two most important things that the organization must address come off-season. First, to sign a big time free agent from the likes of JAMES (very less likely), WADE (less likely), and BOSH (likely). Secondly, is to get a quality coach. There are a lot of quality coach out there like JVG, Byron, Avery, etc. And this this the topic i want to bring up. As i browsed over yahoosports, i noticed an article about Doc rivers. Here is the link:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AlWwImtOgKaByUpV5oioWZG8vLYF?slug=ap-celtics-rivers
Doc Rivers is weighing his options for next season. He cited there family reasons, mainly because of his 2 two sons being a senior and his daughter, blah blah. I'm a bit skeptical about this one though. I guess Doc has sensed that the Celtics time is over after this season. Garnett is aging, Pierce and Ray are going to be free agents if I'm not mistaken. He doesn't want to go into rebuilding once again.
Therefore, what do you think of Doc Rivers as our next coach, if he does leave. I think he would consider coaching this Bulls team. He would be a great fit with this team because he is a defensive-minded coach and that's Bulls priority, right?
So share some thoughts on this or who do you think will be a better fit for this team.
How About Plan C?
Yes, we are all excited in the upcoming 2010 free agent class. Lebron, Wade, and Bosh are the top 3 free agents in this class. They are followed by, in no particular order, Johnson, Boozer, and Stoudemire. The Bulls are in position to sign one max free agent. Forget Lebron James, he is not going anywhere, not even the Bright lights of New York can lure him out of Cleveland. Now, the Bulls are only down with two top free agents, Wade and Bosh. Acquiring one of them will be the Bull's Plan A. Based on what we are hearing and my feeling is that it's going to be a long shot for the Bulls two get Wade or Bosh. If the Bulls indeed fail on plan A then on to Plan B which is getting Johnson or Boozer or Stoudemire (if he will opt ouy of his contract). I do think the Bulls are likely to land any of the three if they fail plan A. Okay, let's not get to excited here, as the Bulls, in the past, have not been so lucky in Free Agency. Not even the presidential-like treatment the Bulls gave to T-mac when he arrived at airport lured him to play in ChiTown.
If all fails then the Bulls should have a plan C, right? So my thoughts are, if they don't get any of the name mentioned above then they would have to settle with plan C, which i think is not bad at all and is far better than the RON MERCER-BRAD MILLER 2000 Free Agency. Here goes Plan C,with about 20 million in salary cap on hand, the Bulls can get two quality players in DAVID LEE and MANU GINOBILI. They both complement the play of Drose. The Bulls starting line-up of ROSE, MANU, DENG, LEE, and NOAH still looks very formidable with HINRICH, GIBSON coming of the bench. I think this is not bad at all if the Bulls do fail in acquiring a big time free agent. It is way better than the MERCER signing.
Let's just brace ourselves for what is to going to happen come Free Agency. We are all hoping that our Bulls can land one top free agent.
If plan A and B fails then how about plan C?
