One of the things I enjoy about Sports Blog Nation is that it creates a window into the worlds of the fans of other teams. Though I am a Philly fan, I like seeing what other fans have to say during the highs and lows of their seasons. If another team has an amazing come from behind victory or a no-hitter, or conversely, if they blow a huge lead to a rival, or a franchise player goes down for the year, I love checking out what that team's SBNation writers and commenters have to say. The passion that all fans share is one of the things that makes me relish being a sports fan.

So this morning, I decided to go check out what the good folks over at Amazin' Avenue had to say about last night's game. Surely an extra innings victory over a hated division rival dovetailing with a day and event that will be seared into our memories for years to come would be a season highlight for them. I was surprised, however, to find that their writeup was a simple explanation of the events of the game. 

Let me be clear: I am not bashing the way the writers' at Amazin' Avenue chose to cover the game. Their decision was to keep the writeup about baseball, and they did a fine job of summarizing the important events. It's an editorial choice that I absolutely understand and respect.

TGP's own WholeCamels, however, decided to take a different route. Take a look at his recap if you haven't already. He chose to document the game as what it was: A special experience, a unique memory that, the score notwithstanding, will be one of the games we'll look back upon fondly from 2011 season. Years from now, when I look back upon this game, I won't think about the offensive frustrations or the numerous excellent bullpen performances. I'll think about how I was watching this game on TV when I first heard the news. I'll think about the chills that I got when I heard the crowd chanting. And I'll think about the power of sports to bring people together. 

WholeCamels captured those feelings with his writeup. On that day when I look back, I hope I'll be able to find his very recap, because it will remind me of how I felt yesterday, and how I feel today.
