(off topic) Best country at the Olympics????

Hey all,

As the Olympics draw to a close I just wanted to get everyone's idea about how the best coutry should be judged.

General perception is the country that has won the most gold is considered to have been the best over the course of the 2 weeks. Going by this then China is considered to be the best at this Olympics winning 50 gold medals.

The flip side of the coin is to look at the total number of medals won to consider who has performed the best, now I note that most of the American sites like ESPN, Yahoo (America) have gone with this theory in the fact that American would be on top with a total of 108 medals 10 clear of China.

So should it be Gold won or overall medals? Should a country that has won 10 silver be considered better than a team that has won 7 Gold?

Props to my national team

Hey all

Just wanted to give some props to my national team Australia for their performance against USA. I was impressed that it was only a 10 point loss considering we haven't won against USA in international ball. Considering Bogut wasn't playing, although I don't think he would of made a difference to the result, I came away impressed.

I have seen a few people say how bad USA played but I must note Australia almost knocked off a full strangth Argentina team a few days before this game losing 94-91 and that was also with Bogut not playing most of the second half, so things aren't that bad for USA.

Biggest thing USA will have to get around is FIBA zone defence, commentators (was watching ESPN) last night ( my time) were saying how NBA is more the one on one and isolation plays where that doesn't really happen a whole heap with FIBA rules. FIBA zone you can have a guy stand under the ring the whole time even if there isn't anyone near him

Another thing USA will need to adjust to is the nick nack fouls that are called with FIBA rules as apposed to NBA, alot more cheap ones will be called in the Olympics.

Anyways bring on the Olymipcs, I am very much looking forward to the USA v Spain game so I can finally get a decent look at Rudy play.

Have fun all.

We got No. 1 pick.

Let me say that just made my day. I am currently away from home (Australia) working on a tiny island called Nauru and the conditions arn't great let me tell you. Being away from friends and family for 3 months isn't great and with internet connect speeds of 30kbs or less, keeping tabs on the Blazers is hard.

Couldn't give a stuff about all that today now, considering the outcome of the draft, made it a great day for me here thats for sure.

Can't wait for the draft now, I will be back home and will get to watch it on TV. Oh how great it will be.

Oh well just wanted to share my thoughts. Oden or Durant doesn't worry me either on of them will help us.

KP's phone will be ringing off the hook between now and draft day.

Have a good day all. Enjoy.

Bairdy
