Goodbye, Rudy, We (Really) Knew Thee

OK, I'll come out and say it. I'm gonna miss Rudy Carpenter.

Sure, he didn't lead us to the top, he was on the ground more often than he was on his feet, he stole soda and wore pink, got into fights at community basketball games, and is generally a bit of an asshole, but I'm gonna miss him.

To quote Terrell Owens, "He's my quarterback."

He became the starter at the same time I became a fan, four long years ago.

We've been through the ups and downs together (more of the latter than the former, it seems) and it's gonna be hard to see anyone else under center come next September.

I decided when I became a Sun Devils fan that whatever team Rudy was drafted to, I would root for (I generally don't like the NFL, and I don't have a favorite team) but it seems now that because of this season, I may not be finding a new, favorite, Rudified team.

He may be one of the most polarizing players in ASU history, and I know many Sun Devils don't like him his hotheadedness, but dammit, I'm gonna miss him.

What Clippers Fans Have To Say About the Baron Talk

Hey everyone, I posted this fanpost over at Clips Nation, because it seems that us Warriors fans would be thrilled to get Baron back, but I was curious to see what Clippers fans had to say about it.

Here's the link to the post.

It was pretty interesting to see their opinions, but it seems that in any trade (either between two or three franchises) they would want at least an All-Star back in exchange for trading the Big Bad Beard, which is understandable.

There was also an interesting counter-trade in the comments, which involved sending Anthony Randolph, Marco Belinelli, and Corey Maggette away to get Baron and...Paul Davis haha.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=841~3190~497~3455~194~2998&teams=12~6~6~12~9~9&te=&cash=9:12

Anyway, just an interesting read from another bad team's point of view.

To Trade Baron?

Hey Clips Nation, this is Baked Biedrins from over at Golden State of Mind. This trade was suggested in a recent fanpost, and I was wondering what some Clippers fans thought of it.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2753~2776~1026~378~497~3039~194~1982&teams=12~12~9~30~12~12~9~30&te=&cash=

Obviously, it would require not one, but two GMs admitting that they were wrong and taking a mulligan, but it's an interesting one to be sure.

What do you guys think of Baron? Do you think the organization would welcome Maggs back? Is this trade do-able for all parties? Let me know whatcha think.

Was on ESPN a bit ago and found this story on their front page:

It's all about Stephen Jackson and his Mother helping out some kids in the Bay Area.

Turns out, there are seven or eight of these stories, and alot of them are pretty heartwarming. (The links are on the right hand side of the story.)

I especially recommend the first one, featuring Dwight Howard as "Dr. Giggles", cheering up ill children in an Orlando area hospital. It's a great story and really puts the side of players that you don't normally see into focus.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone here at Golden State of Mind

I really am not liking this.

I mean, after some great door-shutting by Perez (except for the two blown saves), why would TLR go and break a kid's confidence like that?

I would much rather have Carp come back in some capacity in the bullpen, before eventually working back into the rotation to be ready for next year. This way, you have a healthy, ready Carpenter and a young, confident, and hopefully dominant closer.

Ok, so a week and a half before the opening kickoff may be early to start talking about Carp playing in the big leagues, but there seems to be a large majority that considers Rudy a sub-par prospect.

Here's an article on ten senior quarterbacks expected to be drafted,

Rudy's Number Seven.

The thing that caught my eye was the first comment, which was particulary harsh, at least in my opinion.

uh, this guy is a liability. total hothead, probably wont make it through the season unijured. In a regular year for QB strength this clown wouldn`t be in the top 25. Has never won a big game. ever

Any opinions?
