More Praise for Trout

Yahoo's Passan also mentions a bit about the Angel's drafts.

All this reminiscing about the Angels in the 90's (and fans cheering loudly: here) reminded me of what I hated more than anything else about that cursed decade of baseball- the fans of other teams...

Lyle Spencer gets it wrong on multiple accounts

Let me start my saying I've never liked this guy. Somehow I ended up reading this garbage and I was amazed at how little this guy knows about baseball. First of all saying the red sox may prefer mathis to napoli in a trade scenario and then saying "As a Type A free agent who'd cost the Angels a high Draft pick..."

Has Scioscia been a derelict manager all season?

Looking back at what has been the larger part of the 2010 season, I can't help but wonder if this couldn't have turned out much differently.  Something that has always marked the Scioscia era of A...

Chatwood and the Quakes Dominate the 66ers

We took my family out to the Quakes/ 66ers game last night to celebrate my son's 2nd birthday. We were fortunate enough to see Tyler Chatwood pitch and this kid was filthy dominant. He allowed two hits (both to the same guy) in 8 innings with no walks and 6 k's. His fastball was sitting 95-96, touching 98 five or 6 times and 99 once. His offspeed stuff was dirty, dropping down to 72-75 with excellent movement and command. This kid looks like a future star. Also, Gabe Jacobo blasted a towering 3 run hr and Amarista was everywhere with the glove and bat you could hope for. There is some real talent on this team.

Patience is a Virtue... 116 AB

Watching Brandon Wood become the Angels permanent handicap (and reading the awful critiques of Wood thus far... talking to you block writer) has gotten me thinking, the last few years we've had a...

Brandon Wood Out Pattern

I was looking over Wood's stats for the year so far and started messing around with the hit/ out/ ball in play tool.  I noticed that wood has exclusively grounded out to the left side and has e...

Jeff Mathis Placed on the 15 Day DL with A Fractured Wrist

About as bad of news as we could get from the catcher spot. Hot hitting Mathis fractured his wrist on the bouncer from Jepsen last night. This was reported by Jeff Biggs on AM 830.

Have you hear of the Hidden Halo Promo?

My wife and I took our kids to the game last night and after receiving our beanies, my wife noticed she had a piece of paper in hers. She ripped it out to throw away (thinking it was some tag or 10% off coupon) when I noticed neither I, my son or my daughter had one so I grabbed it from her. "It said Congratulations!! You are a winner of the Hidden Halo." So we took it over to guest relations and received an autographed HK47 baseball and some other goodies. The guy said they are going to do this at every promo night and will be giving away between 5 and 15 things each time. What an Awesome promotion!

Angels Trim Another 7

After the game today, the Angels reassigned seven players to Minor League camp. Pitchers Travis Chick, Bobby Mosebach, Francisco Rodriguez, Rich Thompson, catcher Hank Conger and infielders Andrew Romine and Mark Romine were sent out.

Angels sign RP's Bobby Korecky and Travis Chick to Minor League Deals

Apparently concerned by last seasons bullpen struggles, the FO's answer has been to sign as many relievers as possible. I cant imagine we'll see too many of these guys this year, but hopefully some of them pan out. The angels also signed Cory Aldridge and Michael Ryan to minor league deals.

Cliff Lee has surgery to remove a bone spur from his foot

Fox Sports is reporting that Cliff Lee had surgery on his foot today to remove a bone spur. It will put him back 3-4 weeks although he is continuing to strengthen his upper body.

Kazmir changing his winter workout to increase strength

Interesting article about the workout plan it sounds like Butcher put Kaz on. Kazmir says it is helping to increase his core strength and should allow him to both pitch deeper into games and maintain a higher velocity on his pitches. We won't know for sure until the pitches are thrown, but it sounds like Kazmir might be the Kazmir of old again.

Free Agent Pitchers

Considering the main objectives for the offseason were to add some pitching and a solid hitter- apparently with Matsui being the hitter- We should still be in the market for some pitching.  Now...

What's with the Panic Halo Fans?

Seriously people, why the panic?  Yes, the Halos missed out on Halladay and Lee.  Yes, Lackey is off to bean-town, Figgy will be running in the cold seattle rain and we appear to have traded one...

Vlad is looking for a two year deal

Apparently, Vlad is looking for someone to give him a 2 year deal and a chance to play right field every day. If he doesn't get it, then he is planning on coming back to the Angels for whatever they will give him. He said his mom is comfortable here and would like to stay but also wants to show he can still play the whole game.
