This soulful, funky song by the great Curtis Mayfield struck me as particularly relevant given the recent trends in our football program. So sit back, relax, and get funky while Nick Saban, Curtis Mayfield, and Alabama Football move on up. Enjoy the classic sounds of Curtis Mayfiled from his first solo album, the funky and seminal "Curtis."

Todd, I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here, but we've just gotta start movin' on up, baby! Also, I want to see Fluker get funky to this song.

Alabama Basketball = Titanic

Ron Steele has announced that his career at Alabama is over. Whether this is genuinely due to injury or whether it's because he wants to get out and save himself for the NBA draft no one will know for sure, but what is apparent is that Alabama basketball is totally, incontrovertibly, and sadly at rock bottom.

After attending the Auburn-Alabama game last Saturday, I was pretty well convinced that Gottfried's death warrant was officially signed, sealed, and delivered. The team had no life. If you think the 1st quarter of the Sugar Bowl was a no-show, then you weren't in Auburn on Saturday. Defensive intensity was totally absent. Ball-handling ability was non-existent. Auburn applied ball pressure and we folded faster than a cheap tent during a hurricane. Furthermore, when we were on the offensive end we were sending our big guys out to the top of the key and trying to post Hillman and A. Steele against Auburn's guards. Alabama's performance on Saturday was pure garbage by any and all accounts.

We've all seen this coming, but it's really getting ugly now. That team hit the iceberg a few weeks ago and is now totally upright in the water, about to snap in half and sink into the cold depths of the ocean. Unfortunately for Mark Gottfried, there don't appear to be anymore lifeboats.

Get ready for the CBS Tebow love-fest tomorrow. This is just how many times they said Tebow in ONE GAME last year. Just think, if you combine Danielson's dislike for Alabama with his man-crush on Tebow, it has the potential to be three times that bad tomorrow. Boy am I glad I've got a ticket so I won't have to listen to that crap on TV.

Wow. This is absolutely hilarious. Possibly NSFW because of the whole, you know, Hitler thing. Still, this is a really funny edit about the UT gameplan, etc. for the UCLA game. Pure gold.

Alabama and the draft...

So, uh, no Alabama players taken in this year's NFL draft. I was a little surprised, as I thought we'd see DJ Hall and Simeon Castille go somewhere from the 4th to 7th round. Gilberry just doesn't have the speed or height of a DE nor the size of a DT in the NFL. I think he'll make a roster and maybe do well, but the numbers just aren't there to justify a draft pick on him. DJ has character issues, I guess, and his 40 time was a little slow. Simeon ran a slower 40 and projects as a safety, but doesn't seem to have enough size. Still, for how productive both he and Hall were in college, it's puzzling why they weren't drafted. Anyway, this is disappointing for the program, but I doubt we'll see this trend recur much in the future.

But it doesn't seem like anyone cares.

I can only hope this can launch us into a good SEC tournament run. Let's hope that Auburn loses tonight so we can play Florida in the 1st round and hopefully make a run.
