Cincy Jungle Bengals draft a guard in the first round????

For those of you that are foaming at the mouth for our beloved Bengals to draft the next great Bengal guard with one of this year's first round picks. I thought I’d share this information with you. I know that lately it's looking more and more possible that this tiger may indeed change its stripes but, our draft history when it comes to guards is telling. We have never taken a true guard in the first round. Only 4 in the second round, 5 in the third and 5 in the fourth. As you can see, not a lot of high marquee names here. The Bengals seem to prefer taking later round OT’s and converting them to guards. I wouldn’t necessarily be disappointed but, I would be surprised to see us take one in the first round this year. This could be yet another year of breaking streaks but, don’t get your hopes up too high!

Round 2

Eric Steinbach 2003, Freddie Childress 1989, Glen Bujnoch 1976, Steve Lawson 1971

Round 3

Mike Goff 1998, Ken Blackmon 1996, Bob Dahl 1991, Barney Cotton 1979, Dave Lapham 1974

Round 4

Clint Boling 2011, William Glass 1980, Greg Fairchild 1976, Daryl White 1974, Joe Stephen 1970

Here’s the link to our draft history if anyone’s interested.

Cincy Jungle Cornerback

The recent moves of this team are certainly encouraging.  For once in my lifetime, the Bengals seem to be systematicly addressing my entire offseason shopping list.  (With one major exception)  We absolutely need more depth at cornerback.  A third corner is a neccesity.  I was intreagued by the interest in Rod Hood.  Could he be the one?  Where does his courtship stand?  If not him, the who?  It would certainly be a shame to have addressed so many needs and then go into the season with a glaring weakness on the corner.
