"Alabama players could have traveled to California individually, and by doing so they could have pocketed roughly $1,000 each, according to NCAA postseason rules that allow for expenses.

But they voted unanimously to travel as a team on Jan. 1, according to a member of the Alabama athletic department who credited captains Mike Johnson, Javier Arenas and Rolando McClain for influencing their teammates."

I like this. A lot. Keep the team together, focused, everyone on the same page.

Interesting that when he says "don't let this crimson tide t-shirt throw ya" he makes an X with his fingers and cringes. Guess he is still an LSU fan after all. Ha.

The Weekly RBR...Meltdown?

Uhhhhh....I, uh, um, I don't even know what to say.  They are delusional down on the plains:

http://www.trackemtigers.com/2009/11/30/1178103/auburn-sends-clear-message-to#comments

No post there, but I had to share this with the RBR faithful.  I give Auburn all the credit in the world, but to say that you are on an even keel with Bama after one game is ridiculous.  Although I no longer condone the actions of RBR posters on that dumbass website, I will say that this post by HarveybirdmanAL pretty much sums up my thoughts:

For 4 quarters the Auburn Defense dominated Mark Ingram and for about 10 min. in the 1st quarter Auburn dominated Alabama. After that 1st 10 min. however, Alabama outscored Auburn 26-7 and out gained Auburn 286-194. Auburn reached field goal range only twice in the game, during the drive for their 2nd touchdown and on the 2nd to last play of the game. Auburn had a perfect game plan for Alabama. The plan was based on the fact that Auburn had to come out and knock Alabama in the mouth and get up big early. The Tigers accomplished this. I think it’s worth noting. though, that Auburn had to do this along with the gimmicky plays because Chizik knows that his team is completely inferior to Alabama. There’s no way that Auburn could’ve lined up like men and played Alabama straight up. I will give Auburn credit where credit is due, the coaching staff and game preparation. Except for the late game Les Miles like clock management of Chris Todd and the coaching staff, the Auburn team did exactly what they needed to do to have any shot at beating Alabama. I know most of you will disagree with me, but I’m sure there are some Auburn fans out there that can have an honest, intelligent conversation about football.

Further, it seems that Auburn fans have become OK with almost winning.  They literally believe they are almost at our level as far as talent and coaching.  Yes, they came out swinging, but as has been pointed out, after we were able to rest our D and make adjustments, we dominated them save one play on a busted coverage (looking at you, Barron).  However, one game does not bring you back.  And, Aubies, excuse us for looking ahead to the SECCG - do you guys remember what that is?  Once we got our focus back, yeah, you were done.

I don't want to take any of OTS thunder, but this is too easy - After the jump!  (damn, I feel powerful)

Tide vs. Fighting Irish back in talking stages

Would love to see this played in New York

http://blog.al.com/tide-source/2009/11/tide_vs_fighting_irish_back_in.html

TUSCALOOSA -- A future Alabama-Notre Dame football game, possibly at a neutral site, has been the subject of casual discussions, officials at both schools say.

The preliminary talk appears to be more than wishful thinking but far from becoming reality.

"Is it a deal we would like to see? Yes," Notre Dame Athletics Director Jack Swarbrick said Monday.

"Will we be able to? That's a lot less clear."

Notre Dame's contract with NBC and the Southeastern Conference's contracts with CBS and ESPN present obstacles. Notre Dame is committing to play seven home games, four road games and one game at a neutral site in future seasons. NBC owns the rights to the neutral-site games through the end of its contract, in 2015.

Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore says 2012 would be the earliest a game against Notre Dame could be arranged.

Moore said Jacksonville, New Orleans and New York could be possible sites for a game against Notre Dame.

Who should win the heisman?

So I have been thinking about this all week last week and this entire weekend.  I wonder who should win the heisman?  I have been thinking of this a lot, again, all last week and this entire weekend.  Between trying to figure out what Saban should do before I call him and tell him what the hell to do, texting Gmac and telling him he is crap because he's not scottish so everything not scottish is crap, and hanging at the strip club with Cody in hopes of getting, uh, nevermind, I decided to create the real heisman trophy candidate list.  So below you will see a poll, and I would like to get your opinion on the poll.  Who do you think should win the heisman this year?

Also, this is completely unbiased.  No where in my extensive polling choices will you find anything biased.  This is a completely fair and unbiased poll.  I have nothing but unbiased non-crimson blood in my veins.  If you think any of these polling options are biased, please contact RBR editors Todd, Nico, and OTS, and CC Kleph and Pete as well.  And just to make sure it gets to them in a timely manner, send the email 25 times.

RBR Get Together - Bama/Arkansas

We had an improptu get together at Egan's yesterday prior to the game.  It was great to see BamaVicki, Lilsis, and Chinesedentist again, and it was awesome to finally meet BenVCobra.  Great times were had, even though it was far too short.  Vicki and I are already planning on meeting at Egan's more often this year, and invite any of you to chill with us and enjoy great fellowship while enjoying the games and a hell of a bartender in ChineseDentist.  I was a huge fan of the old Houndstooth, but Egan's has become my favorite bar as it is tremendous atmosphere.  Couple that with the fact no teeth were lost, and I was completely sober all day, it was the best gameday experience I have ever had.

I also have to say I love the new videos added to the pregame.  Awesome.  And FINALLY, after me asking for years, we have bad ass CGI elephants with tribal tattoos.  F'n awesome!
