Lone Star Ball The All-Five Tool Team, with a shocking twist

Look at their DH/UI pick, it's not retarded at all. Makes you really wonder about the fascination with "5 tool" prospects

http://www.throughthefencebaseball.com/the-all-five-tool-team-you-agree

Babe Ruth seemed to be born to play baseball. Most know that before becoming the power hitter he will always be remembered for, he also starred as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, leading the league with a 1.75 ERA in 1916. Yet for all his home runs, Ruth could never claim to be something many young baseball players dream of blossoming into: a five-tool player.

Bluebird Banter John Sickels Farm System Rankings

John Sickels is now done with all of his rankings.I have updated the values through his most recent "Important Grade Changes" post, as well as included the prospects from the Cubs/Rays trade.

How I went about creating the data

I went through each system that John graded and took down the grade for both hitters and pitchers. Why did I do that? Well, hitters and pitchers have different values. The value’s that I used were the ones first identified byVictor Wang in an article at The Hardball Times. The guys at Beyond The Box Score took that and made it into a monetary value. Here is what the average prospect was worth who fell in these ranges:

Lone Star Ball San Francisco Bay Area Rangers Fans

Greetings Fellow LSBers,

Some of us Bay Area Rangers fans (goET, NorCal, Alon91, & Myself) have been meeting up to watch Rangers Playoff action. We have been going to American Bull (1819 El Camino Real, Burlingame, CA). We will definitely be meeting up again for future Rangers Playoff action, either at American Bull or somewhere downtown SF.

It'd be great if we could meet up with more Bay Area fans to watch the Rangers, we've heard from a bunch here over the past few months.

Anyone down to meet up Friday for ALCS game 6 and possibly more???

Update:

We will be meeting at American Bull, 1819 El Camino Real, Burlingame, CA. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Millbrae Bart/CalTrain Station. We're planning on getting there between 4:30 and 5PM to get some good seats. Hope to see some of you there tonight.

Lone Star Ball BBQ and Drinks in Fort Worth Tonight

Fuck fuck mother mother fuck

What an abortion that so called game was. Now we have to drink till we can can't feel feelings anymore.

NorCalRangersFan, myself and possibly goET will be meeting up in Fort Worth for some BBQ and Drinks. It'd be great if some LSB folk could come join us. We' re near Sundance Square and will likely go somewhere in that area.

Who's down?

Also, suggestions for BBQ in Sundance?

Lone Star Ball AL West Clinching Party in San Francisco

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, no voice left what so ever. Being in Oakland for the clinch was the greatest thing ever!!!

ghostofErikThompson, alon91, myself, and some others will be heading to a bar or 6 in San Francisco. We're most likely gonna start at the Thirsty Bear near the Montgomery Bart station. The address is 661 Howard St at 3rd St. It'd be great if we could get a bunch of LSB folk out to celebrate this greatness. If we decide to go elsewhere we will post it.

Who's down"?

Lone Star Ball Astros, Phillies Reach Oswalt Agreement; Approval Needed

The Astros and Phillies have reached an agreement on a Roy Oswalt trade, reports Mark Berman of FOX 26 in Houston.  Berman says the Astros are now waiting for Oswalt's approval, having hammered out the players and money with the Phils.  Wednesday morning, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports had reported that the players were "pretty much agreed on."  Lefty J.A. Happ has been a rumored part of the deal for a while now.

Lone Star Ball Gretzky and Friends to Buy Stars?

It seems Wayne Gretzky's days as an NHL owner are far from over. According to the Dallas Observer, the Great One, Mike Modano and Brett Hull are looking to collectively purchase the Dallas Stars from owner Tom Hicks.

"It's nothing formal, as if they're about to sign on the dotted line," a source told the Observer. "But it's gone past kicking the tires. This could happen."

Lone Star Ball Mariners acquire Brandon League from Toronto

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/12/blue-jays-to-acquire-brandon-morrow.html

The Blue Jays and Mariners reached a tentative agreement on a swap that will send Brandon Morrow to the Blue Jays for Brandon League and a prospect, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.  Presumably it'd take a solid prospect to balance out the deal.  The FAN 590's Mike Wilner spoke to League and confirmed he's headed to Seattle for a physical, and the Seattle Times' Geoff Baker learned Morrow will take one in Florida tomorrow.

Morrow, 25, has a 3.96 ERA, 9.3 K/9, and 5.7 BB/9 in his 197.6-inning big league career.  The hard-throwing righty was drafted fifth overall by the Mariners in '06.  He made the team's Opening Day roster in '07 as a reliever, and stayed in that role to open the '08 season due to the Erik Bedard acquisition.  He dealt with a shoulder injury that year.  In August of '08 he transitioned to starting.  Elbow issues surfaced in the spring of '09, but once healthy Morrow was back in the 'pen.  He was sidelined by biceps tendinitis shortly thereafter, and it was back to starting in June.  Morrow has a pretty serious injury history in his big league career; it's difficult to determine if the frequent role-switching was the cause or the effect.  He is not yet arbitration-eligible and is under team control through 2013.

Lone Star Ball MLBtv Blackout Question

I live in Toronto and am thinking about getting MLBtv.

I will be in the Blue Jays region and I wanna be able to watch the Rangers and Blue Jays games as much as possible.

What kind of blackout rules apply? Will I not get Rangers games or not get Jays games?

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Lone Star Ball Jays lock up Rios

$65 mil over 6 years + a $15 million option for 2015. That's one hell of bargain when compared to the moronic contracts of Drew and Pierre.

With Wells locked up till 2014 and Snider lurking in the AA, looks like the Jays will have one of the best outfields in baseball for the next decade or so.

Sabean's gonna regret turning the Rios for Lincecum deal down

Lone Star Ball Byrd to the Cubs unlikely

Reed Johnson was just cut by the Jays recently. He's right handed hitter who can play center and hits lefties pretty well.

Cubs are persuing him and will likely sign him at about a million for the season. Johnson + keeping all prospects > Byrd - prospects

 http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7949068/Sources:-Cubs-pursuing-ex-Blue-Jay-Johnson

Looks like Murphy will have to stick it out as the 4th outfielder until Byrd reverts back to his usual .250 average.
