6 forced fumbles, ONE recovery. 5 turnovers IN A ROW. Faulty challenge & non-challenge. Ahhh the life of being a Bears fan.
Obvious Changes Are Coming; How About This For A Coaching Staff
Head Coach: Bill Cowher/Mike Shanahan
Offensive Coordinator: Mike Martz/Charlie Weis
Quarterbacks Coach: Jeremy Bates
Defensive Coordinator: Not sure; maybe with Urlacher back they'll be an average Defense & the coordinator won't matter.
Any other ideas to toss around? I think Jeremy Bates can be had from USC for the right price. Do you think Chicago will clean house, or do you think certain current coaches are sticking around? Obviously General Manager is a whole other story all by itself.

A Look @ The Flex Scheduling & The Bears
Peter King's predictions for this weekend included a look at the Flex Scheduling of one 4-1 Cincinnati Bengals. Here's the insert:
Relayed this on Sunday night on NBC: When I was finishing up on the phone with Marvin Lewis the other day, I congratulated him and he said, "We're just trying to get on one of your games.'' An NBC Sunday-nighter, he meant. OK. Weeks 11 through 17 are flex scheduling on NBC. Let's see when you might fit in, coach.
Week 11: at Oakland. No dice.
Week 12: Cleveland. Nope.
Week 13: Detroit. Geez! What is this, the Giants' schedule?
Week 14: at Minnesota. Bingo. Hold on. NBC has dibs on Eagles-Giants that week. Can't see them switching out of two top-10 TV markets for anything.
Week 15: at San Diego. Very interesting. NBC has Vikings-Panthers, which is compelling only because it's Favre.
Week 16: Kansas City. Nah.
Week 17: at the New York Football Jets. Another bingo.
So you see it here first: If the Bengals keep winning, they might invade your TV sets for a Sunday-nighter Dec. 20 in San Diego or Jan. 3 at the frosty Meadowlands. Maybe both.

This is just SICK
A Reunion...For Orton
With all of the Brandon Marshall talk, the Denver Broncos signed Brandon Lloyd, rejoining with Neckbeard in Denver:
Another Brandon catches on
Coincidence or not, the Broncos signed wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, formerly of the Chicago Bears today to a free agent contract.
Lloyd made some big plays for the Bears in 2008, catching 26 passes for 364 yards and two touchdowns.
Why Not Scrap The Draft Entirely And Go After
Braylon Edwards?
This is from Nfldraftcountdown.com's chat on 3/25:
7:47 [Comment From Vin in NJ]
Do you see the G-Men pulling a trade for Braylon Edwards or another veteran WR, or will they end up drafting one?
7:48 Scott Wright: My old buddy Vin!
If the Giants can get Braylon Edwards for a 2nd, 5th and Steve Smith they should make the deal and run. He is exactly what they need.
Maclin Browns #1 Choice?
Not Sure If It's Been Looked At, But Next Year's Schedule
The Bears, finishing 2nd in the NFC North, face the 2nd place teams from the NFC East and NFC South (1 home/1 away) since they already play all 4 teams from the NFC West.
So, here is the Bears 2009 Schedule (Dates & Times are set in April):

Two-Round Mock Draft By Nfldraftcountdown.com
18. Chicago Bears: Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois
Most assume the Bears will take a wide receiver with this pick and that is certainly a strong possibility but it is far from a sure-thing. Chicago is also intent on upgrading their pass rush after finishing in the bottom third of the league in sacks and they could choose to bring in a local star. A prolific pass rusher who was named the MAC's Most Valuable Player in 2007and 2008, Larry English compiled 57.0 tackles for a loss and 32.5 sacks during his college career and put himself firmly in the first round mix with a strong showing at the Senior Bowl. English does not have the size you look for at 6-2 and 255 pounds and many feel his future at the next level lies at outside linebacker but the Bears have actually had some success with undersized pass rushers and English certainly knows how to get after the quarterback. Chicago definitely needs some more playmakers on offense though and if they did want to go wideout here either Percy Harvin or Darrius Heyward-Bey could be possibilities, although Harvin might be a little too similar to Devin Hester. Despite using their top pick last year on Chris Williams the Bears could still use some more help along the offensive line since John St. Clair is a free agent and John Tait is nearing the end of his career.
49. Chicago Bears: Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina
Big (6-1, 210), physical wideout who would be a perfect compliment to Devin Hester.
Two-Round Mock Draft By National Football Post
18. Chicago Bears: Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
The Bears have consistently struggled scoring points over the past five seasons, and adding a playmaker like Harvin would go a long way toward giving Chicago another big-play threat. Harvin is still developing as a receiver, but he is dynamite with the ball in his hands and will give opposing defenses fits in the passing game.
50. Chicago Bears: Sen’Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn
An ideal one-gap defensive tackle who should come in and make an immediate impact on the Bears’ defense.
More Bears/Lions Connections: Lions To Interview Rivera
The Lions will interview San Diego defensive coordinator Ron Rivera for their head coaching job Tuesday, according to NFL.com.
Offseason Plans: NFL Draft
Assuming San Diego holds on to beat Denver, here's the 20 teams that won't make the Playoffs. I didn't have Strength of Schedules handy, so I don't have EXACT draft order, but here are the tiebreakers for teams with similar records:
1) Ties are first broken using strength of schedule (average of all 16 opponent's winning percentage, divisionmates count twice since they were played twice). Worse strength of schedule picks earlier.
2) If the teams are in the same division, apply the division playoff tiebreakers (except the "loser" picks higher).
3) If the teams are in the same conference but not the same division, apply the conference playoff tiebreakers (except the "loser" picks higher).
4) If the teams are still tied, or are in different conferences, a coin toss decides the order.

Texeira Signs With Yankees, Where's That Leave Swisher?
I really can't wait to see the Yankees' luxury tax figures after this third blockbuster free agent signing. Also, it looks like Swisher might not even start next year for the Yankees after this signing. Thoughts?
Current Bears Playoff Scenarios Including Wildcard (Updated)
Chicago would still have a mathematical shot at the wild card with a loss, but the odds are slim at best, even if it beats Green Bay and Houston on Dec. 28. In that case, the Bears would need four of these five scenarios to play out:
- Washington to lose one of its three remaining games. (@ Cin - L, vs. Phi, @ SF) CHECK
- Philadelphia to lose its NEXT GAME - since Dallas won, Philadelphia will have to beat them in Week 17. (vs. Cle – W, @ Was, vs. Dal)
- Atlanta to drop two of three. (vs. TB – W, @ Min, vs. Stl)
- Dallas to lose two of three. (vs. NYG – W, vs. Bal, @ Phi)
- Tampa Bay to lose its final three games. (@ Atl – L, vs. SD, vs. Oak)

Current Bears Playoff Scenarios Including Wildcard
Okay, we all know now that if the Bears win their next 2, they only need Minnesota to lose 2 out of their next 3.
If the Bears win one of their next 2, they need Minnesota to lose out in their next 3.
If the Bears lose their next 2, they're done.

Williams' Suspended Rest of Season - Bears Still Alive
The suspensions, which cover the final four games of the regular season, are without pay.
If the player’s team qualifies for the playoffs, he is eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, Dec. 29.
Vasher Ruled Out For Sunday Night's Game @ Minnesota
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-bears-vasher&prov=ap&type=lgns
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)—Chicago Bears defensive back Nathan Vasher has a fractured right hand and will miss Sunday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings when the teams meet for first place in the NFC North.
Vasher, who’d missed three games earlier this season with an injury to his right wrist and thumb, was hurt Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. Bears coach Lovie Smith said Vasher also reinjured his right thumb.
“He’ll be out for a while,” Smith said.
Could Vasher be headed to IR?
“Right now all I can say he is out. He’s not playing this week,” Smith said.
2 Questions About The Tennessee Game
The Bears had ALL THE MOMENTUM IN THE WORLD going into their drive that started at the TEN 41-yard line with 3:12 remaining. They had just come off a series by TEN that included their 1st sack all game, a negative rush (kind of a pattern for TEN all day), a false start by TEN, and a decent 13-yard return by Hester to get to Tennessee's 41-yard line, down 21-14. This had the feelings of Glendale, Arizona circa 2006 all over again... The Bears 1st play they come out throwing to Olsen for a nice 9 yard gain after being pushed out of bounds. And then, it happens... No rhyme or reason, but it happens. They run a no-huddle and decide to run the ball up the middle with Forte and seemingly the O-Line gives up for a play and let the DT burst into the backfield to stop Forte for a 3-yard loss. As a result they don't get the 1st down on 4th and 4...
Observations: Week 5
It's encouraging that Orton could possibly put 2 halves together and this team could really take off. Patience is a virtue, and right now Orton is testing ours. A win is a win, but I'd like a game where the tums bottle isn't needed afterwards. I asked you guys to rebound nicely against Philadelphia and you did; and now I ask of you to give me ONE WEEK of an easy win.
Well the Bears did what I asked of them 2 weeks in a row; to not fool me in the Philly game and to give me an easy week with the Lions. That deserves an easy week on my part, even though I'm not doing this until Friday afternoon. The observations will be short & I will say I want to see the Bears absolutely eat Turner and Ryan alive. I realize the Falcons are a different team at home, and even showed a good game in Lambeau, but I think the Bears are up to the task once again. Orton is slowly progressing and finding favorite targets other than Lloyd because of his injury. I'm calling for a nailbiter, but I foresee the Bears taking this one late, possibly with a critical Goal Line stand against Turner that decides the game.
Observations: Week 4
I think the Bears need to "Clean It Up" so to speak as an organization. Can you really think of a professional sports team that would allow this to happen? 2 late game collapses, and in the fashion they happened? Maybe it's a result of not having God out there on the field, but at what point do the Bears stop accepting these losses? Finish games. Yeah, we got it after the 1st time it happened. It's beginning to look more and more like the Colts just played plain BAD against us and we benefited from it. It's easy to say we could and should be 3-0, but the fact that the 2 straight losses came in the manner they did is disheartening. The Bears fans were teased once this season with the Colts victory, so shame on us. Any more teasing after these last two crushing defeats will be shame on you Chicago Bears. Please, make us forget all about these last 2 games and rebound nicely with another Sunday Night win and all will be forgiven, for now.
The Moral of The Victory: We need Hester on the field or healthy to win. Missed the majority of the 2nd half collapse against Carolina and missed the entire Tampa Bay game. GOD has never been so evidently important to our team's success as now.
Now on to the observations.

Quentin Will Test Wrist on Friday
How soon do we see Q back in the lineup? I'd prefer him to wait until he's a lot closer to 100% than to rush things and have a setback. Is the Minnesota series a possibility? Or will we have to wait until October?
Observations: Week 2
I tried to do this for last week's game, but I got back late from Indy after attending such a bittersweet game & had a hectic week last week. I'm aiming for this to be a weekly product.

White Sox Remaining Pitching Rotation
Can we fill in the gaps? Are we going to have to go with either Vazquez or Danks on 3 days rest Thursday? Vazquez threw 106 pitches and Danks threw 95. Or are we going to go with Clayton Richard? Or are we going to go with a combination of long relief bullpen? Only 13, possibly 14, more games left and the Rotation is getting interesting.
