Good News!
The sprain to Tavaris' MCL is a actually a good thing. It is not a permanent injury and it should remind him how easy it is to be injured. He has already demonstrated that he can do the job. And if he is sidelined he won't be injured again at least until the season starts. This is preseason! The Vikings need now to work on team problems not win games. On offense, I would say that Bollinger and Booty need a lot more work. On defense, what happened to the great run defense of last year. For a lot of fans, preseason is just like regular season except the games don't count. Don't look at it that way. This is the time to work on weaknesses not show off strengths.
Not Pennington!
With two of the best running backs in the NFL and an outstanding offensive line, the Vikings are clearly an unbalanced run first team. One of the major requirements for a quarterback is to continually threaten to throw the deep ball. This threat prevents the opposing defenses from running all of their players at the line on every play. This was the reason that (WR) Bernard Berrian was acquired. He can stretch the field., but he needs a quarterback that can throw the deep ball. I understand that due to injuries that while Pennington is quite accurate, he is not a deep ball passer.
