Had a chance to visit today with @CoachHughFreeze and @RossBjorkAD. Can't remember a time Ole Miss was in better hands.

New Video: Summer Construction Update

1

This video shows the progress of the updates being made this summer to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. These updates include a brick facade on the sidelines, two field level luxury boxes, and a long overdue halftime locker room. Here is a link to the page on olemisssports.com with an accompanying article describing updates to the IPF.

Being a Fan: What It Means and Why We Do It

The point of this post is to get you to comment on why you're a fan. Not why you're an Ole Miss fan per se, but why you feel like being a fan in general is worth it.

Like all members of the Rebel faithful, I love our landshark defense (and our video department).

Opening to "Ghosts of Ole Miss"

3

This link takes you to ESPN's video hub where you can see the first few minutes of "Ghosts of Ole Miss", which is scheduled to air on ESPN Tuesday night. I strongly believe that this movie will be a good thing for Ole Miss. It will have its painful moments for sure, but in the end it will show the progress that has been made. It is my belief that this progress defines us more than any of the mistakes made by past generations ever will. Enjoy.

This, my fellow Rebels, is what an AD who gives a shit looks like.

Duke Riley, a three star linebacker per Rivals, tweeted this picture earlier. Sounds like good news for the Rebels. Riley currently has offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, TCU, Arizona, and several other schools. Let the world know, Duke.

Coach Freeze is accepting responsibility for a bad play call???? Do football coaches do this? I had been under the impression that they just threw their players under the bus and deflected all blame. Seriously though, regardless of what your take is on what happened Saturday night, I love the sense of accountability that our players and coaching staff have. It's quite refreshing.

Serderius Bryant Overcomes Obstacles to Find Success, Solace at Ole Miss

+

This article from the Orlando Sentinel tells about the obstacles that linebacker Serderius "Bird" Bryant worked through while growing up in Florida. Much like the stories of Patrick Willis, Michael Oher, and many other great athletes in many sports, this story is about how an athlete has persevered through much adversity to become an Ole Miss Rebel. This story just gives us yet another reason this week to be proud to be Ole Miss Rebels too.

Denzel Nkemdiche honored by SEC

1

Ole Miss linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche was named as the SEC co-defensive player of the week for his performance Saturday night against the Crimson Tide. Denzel had eleven tackles, two forced fumbles, and one sack. I would argue that Denzel has been the most exciting player to watch on Ole Miss' defense, if not the entire team, through the first part of the 2012 season, and I imagine that many other Rebels would agree. Congratulations, Denzel.

EoTC: Moncrief added to Biletnikoff Watch List

+

I think that it's safe to say that most Rebel fans knew it was just a matter of time before our star receiver started getting some national recognition. Keep up the good work, Donte.

Regardless of your political affiliation, I thought this was a relevant picture to share. While other schools may have their sweatshirts adorning Sarah Palin's daughter, the Ole Miss logo can be seen on a handbag of the current President of the United States of America and on the shirt of the other nominee in the 2012 Presidential election. Is this pandering? Of course it is, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

Wednesday afternoon it was confirmed by Hugh Freeze that Tobias Singleton has left the Ole Miss program. Supposedly, it was a mutual decision.

ESPN Releases 30 for 30 Trailer for New Season

+

Last week ESPN released a trailer featuring clips from the new installments of their 30 for 30 series that will air this fall. As you well know, Ole Miss is featured in one of these documentaries. At the link, there's a short summary of each documentary with the new trailer at the bottom of the page. I hadn't seen the video before so I just assumed that others might not have either.

Mother of Mario Mathis Says Ole Miss Didn't Revoke Offer

8

In this article by Ron Higgins of The Commercial Appeal, Mathis' mother disputes the report about her son's predicament that was published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday. Denise Fletcher, mother of Mario Mathis, stated that "Ole Miss has never been anything but honest with Mario. You can’t give a scholarship to someone who can’t physically play. It’s ridiculous to think otherwise." Fletcher goes on to say the following about Ole Miss and the Rebel coaching staff: "Mario loves that school and those coaches. They understand Mario’s level of commitment and we understand their level of commitment. He and Ole Miss have nothing but respect for each other. We know it and they know it." The mere fact that some journalists published the other version of the story is absurd. However, since this is the world of college football recruiting, it's not all that surprising. Personally, I hope Mathis makes a full recovery and is on our list of new signees in February 2013. Regardless of where Mario ends up, I hope he has a great senior season, and I hope he's successful in the future.
