Maryland Minute 3.23.11 - Post-Commitment Justin Anderson Mixtape

You know it's the offseason when the lead story is a new mixtape of a Terps commit.  Either that, or Justin Anderson really is that awesome.  Regardless, enjoy the beauty that is Justin Anderson's...

Maryland Minute 3.16.11 - The Decision: Justin Anderson

Justin Anderson to Announce Tomorrow Wow, things change quickly.  Like in the two minutes between the time I posted the MM and IMS tweeted the news.  (Props to terps319 for the FanPost).   I've got...

Edsall Secures Commitment #3

In the form of Atlanta O-Lineman Nick Brigham. He's 6' 4 and 275, so he's certainly got the size. Maryland was his only offer but he was supposedly receiving interest from Notre Dame, UNC, and Georgia Tech. Between him and 6' 6, 280 Mike Madaras, Edsall has landed some serious size in this O-Line class. Now if we can just get Greg Pyke to sign up...

Maryland Minute 3.9.11 - Is Maryland still on the bubble? (NIT, that is)

So you're saying there's a chance? A tweeter who calls himself "Chicago Basketball" says that MD is probably one of the last two teams out right now. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but at the...

Maryland Minute 3.3.11 - The Good and (Mostly) Bad from the Miami Loss

Was the Miami loss the worst of the season? It's either that or VT. This really has not been a fun year... Men’s Basketball: The fall of Cliff Tucker " Terrapin TrailI really feel bad for the guy....

Martin Breunig is a Terp!

Huge, huge signing for the Terps. He's 6' 9, freaky athletic, and can hit from three. Why is this signing huge? Because with Breunig, Gary has someone to put down low that can keep teams honest with Jordan. If you choose to double Jordan, he's got the option of kicking it out to a 6' 9 big who can stroke it. Couple that with his ability to do this, and you've got a very good under the radar prospect that has a chance to do big things at Maryland. With Stoglin, Hawk, and the addition of Breunig, Faust, and Sterling, the Terps should have themselves some shooters next season.

Maryland Minute 2.23.11 - The Good and Bad from Last Night's Win

Can Maryland get a bye in the ACC tournament? If they win out, it's possible. If they don't, no way. DC Sports Box - Maryland Downs Florida State, 78-62My game recap of last night's win over FSU -...

Four Things We Learned from the Terps' Win over FSU

1. It's been a season of ups and downs, and thanks to the emergence of the freshmen guards, it ain't over yet. This year hasn't turned out exactly the way Maryland envisioned it.  They lost a bunch...

"We talk to [Terps assistant] coach Bino [Ranson] more than any coach," Browne said. "He’s been...

"We talk to [Terps assistant] coach Bino [Ranson] more than any coach," Browne said. "He’s been more proactive in the recruitment than anybody. He’s been to a lot of games, talked to us a lot of times and been with us. I haven’t had any conversations with Gary [Williams], though. I’ve been told that’s not what he does, that it’s his style. I just don’t understand it. We’ve talked to every other head coach."

Bracken on Whittington No AAU handlers. No shoe-company influence. Just a local, fast-rising prospect who plays 20 minutes away from College Park. And Gary can't be bothered to pick up the phone to call him one time. If there was ever an appropriate usage of the Twitter tag #smh...this would be it. [Ben B: I posted a FanShot at the same time with my own thoughts, so I'll stash them here, too: 1) Browne seems basically like Whittington's hypeman. Take his stuff with a grain of salt. 2) Good news is that Maryland shows a lot of love. Bino's doing work and that's obviously a good thing. 3) Gary still not in contact yet = bad. I know there are a thousand things that can be said about this, but the fact of the matter is that a scholarship has been extended (I would assume) and a serious recruitment is taking place. That's the situation where Gary needs at least to go to a game and talk to the coach. 4) Breunig is still Priority 1A at the moment, so maybe this is all a moot point.]

Maryland Minute 2.17.11 - Terps "Way Out" of Tourney

Seth Davis: Terps are "way out" of Tourney Not really news but it still stings a little to hear.  Terrapins Insider - For one game, Terps shine from the line 21-24 from the free throw line ain't...

Maryland Minute 2.16.11 - Honoring the Non-Revs

How many positive memories has the basketball team given you the last month? How about the football program?  Exactly!   That's why today's MM is dedicated to the little men (and women) of UMD...

Shannon Declines DC Job

Is anybody actually surprised? Does anything good ever happen to us? In all seriousness, it seems like buyout money was the sticking issue (he would have lost $1.5 mil from Miami if he signed with us.) Still, it amazes me that Kevin Anderson wasn't aware of this ahead of time/and or prepared to compensate him for that loss. Why go through the whole process and get the fanbase excited without a knowledge of the contract situation of the guy you're trying to hire? Another black eye in the early AD tenure of Kevin Anderson.

Maryland Minute 2.14.11 - Terps, Hokies Have Eye on the Tourney

Terps' date with Hokies has NCAA tournament implications - Nothing about last weekend's loss makes me think this is a Tournament team, but winning at VT would be a major step in...

Maryland Minute 2.9.11 - Wrapping up Longwood, Looking ahead to BC

Notes on Maryland 106, Longwood 52 Jeff Barker's impressed with Mosley's 20 points on 8-12 shooting. I'll reserve judgement until he does it against a team not named Longwood. Terps Crush...

Maryland Minute 2.3.11 - What are Terps' Tourney Chances?

The 68 - How Maryland can reach the NCAA tournament without beating Duke This was actually written before last night's game but it still rings true obviously. Is it still possible to make the...

Korie Lucious Booted From MSU

That's right. Korie Lucious has been kicked off the MSU team for conduct "detrimental to the program." Too bad it's a year too late...

Maryland Minute 1.12.11 - Maryland Wins, Duke Loses...Good Night, Eh?

Yesterday was a slow news day so DT and I combined forces tonight for a Super-MM.  Enjoy! Jordan's Double-Double Surprises Gary Gary opened his post-game press conference by mentioning the end of...

Four Things We Learned from the Terps' Loss to Duke

1. The phrase "(Insert team name) can play with anybody in the country" is one of the most overused cliches in all of sports, but the Terps proved tonight that they truly can play with anybody.  It...

Maryland Minute 1.6.11 - Was Maryland Ever Serious about Leach?

Want to know how a two week vacation to Thailand can get ruined?  By constantly checking your phone about the MD Football Coaching hire, only to find out... it's Randy Edsall.  Just got back...

Maryland Minute 12.08.10 - Notes from the Terps' Win over UNCG

Good victory over a not so good team.  Encouraged by Padgett's 9 boards, and Mychal Parker's contributions.  Tracking the Terps: Notes on Terps 99, UNC Greensboro 56 Some interesting Gary quotes on...

Maryland Minute 11.24.10 - Moten, Wujciak say bye to Byrd

Maryland Minute 11.24.10 - Moten, Wujciak say bye to Byrd

After Week 1, Terps should be feeling good about themselves

How did the Terps stack up with the rest of the ACC this weekend?

Illinois it is...

The Terps will take on the Fighting Illini tomorrow evening at 5 pm. Illinois looked really good in defeat, falling to Texas by 6 in OT. Should be another tough test for the Terps tomorrow.

Four Things We Learned from the Terps' Loss to Pitt

Four Things We Learned from the Terps' Loss to Pitt

Maryland Minute 11.17.10 - Previewing Maryland vs. Pittsburgh

Let me get this out from the get-go.  I don't like the city of Pittsburgh.  I don't like the Steelers.  I don't like the Penguins.  I don't really follow the Pirates, but I'm sure I don't like them...

Four Things We Learned from the Terps' Win over COC

Kevin Van Valkenburg of The Baltimore Sun does a similar series after Ravens games and it's great.  This is the first of hopefully many.  Let me know what you guys think. 1. First and foremost, the...

Maryland Minute 11.10.10 - Recapping Maryland's, Pe'Shon's Big Night

Exciting finish to a game that probably shouldn't have been this close.  Regardless, a win is a win.  Props to Pe'Shon Howard for most of the links tonight.  Maryland's Pe'Shon Howard introduces...

Maryland Minute 11.3.10 - Hubert Close to a Decision?

Recruiting Report: Decision soon for Terps target Desmond Hubert? It seems that way. Sounds like he wants to sign in the early period, which starts in a matter of days now (about a week). Also,...

Maryland Minute 10.27.10 - Should Md Retire BB Jerseys?

Retiring basketball jerseys not in Maryland's plans - I'm kind of indifferent towards the policy. As long as our great players get their name and number in the rafters, what's the...
