Gary Bell Jr. Update
It's safe to say that not many people thought the Zags would be under .500 at this point of the season. While it's too early to write the season off, it's never too early to look ahead to next season. Over the weekend I had a chance to see Gary Bell Jr. play, Gonzaga's heralded shooting guard recruit for next season. I quickly saw why nearly every Pac-10 school recruited him.
Bell's final state line: 27 points on 10-20 shooting (4-5 from 3 point land) to go along with eight rebounds.

Will Mark Few take the Oregon Job?
Whats all this Tom Izzo talk? Who do the Ducks think they are? izzo is not going to take that job. Tubby Smith, might by UO knows that Mark Few would be a better man for the job.
Will Cal beat Duke?
Cal was rollin until they ran into UW in the Pac-10 championship game. CBS's Seth Davis said Cal shouldn't of even been selected to the big dance. What is he smoking? I'm sick of all the West Coast haters out there.

Selection committee screws GU over again
Way back in time... A Dan Dickau led GU team was #6 in the nation, and the selection committee gave them a 6 seed! no typo. #6 in the nation got a 6 seed. GU ended up losing to Wyoming, but it still has to be one of the most absurd seedings by the selection committee of all time.
GU will need to get back to its underdog role if the want to upset Cuse in Buffalo. Losing Manny Arop will hurt them but I still think they have a decent shot if they can get past the Seminoles.
UW got a better draw than Cal or Gonzaga
UW is finally living up to their potential, which makes them a very dangerous #11 seed. I feel bad for Marquette. Look at some of the other 11 seeds. UW is one of the hottest teams in the nation and gets to stay close to home (San Jose). If they can get past Marquette, I'm sure they can beat New Mexico as well.
Isaiah Thomas and Quincy Pondexter form one of the most potent 1-2 punches in the nation, but if they don't get help from someone else it will be hard to advance.

It's a down year for the Pac-10 but the West still has many teams dancing, can't wait for it all to unfold. Who do you guy think has the best chance to make it to the final four? New Mexico? BYU? or the Dawgs?
Breaking down MWC chances to win it all
theleftcoastbias.com analysis of New Mexico, BYU, UNLV, and San Diego States chances of getting to the final four.

It was good for the Mountain West Conference to have UNLV and SDSU play for the tournament championship. UNLV was probably going to get in either way but SDSU was on the bubble and we all remember what happened to them last year when they were on the bubble with a similar resume.
New Mexico was probably going to get a 3 seed if they won the MWC tournament, so as a whole it was good for the conference.
UW makes best in the west rankings
Theleftcoastbias.com came out with their weekly best in the west rankings today.

It's hard to argue with New Mexico at the top spot especially after they beat BYU on the road. That BYU loss allowed for both Gonzaga and Cal to move up. Many of the west teams are still on the bubble, but hopefully the left coast comes to play in their post season conference tournaments. UW also made the rankings after being absent for the last two weeks.
Cal #3 in latest best in the west rankings

Best in the West, How Can it not be New Mexico?
Theleftcoastbias.com came out with their weekly best in the west rankings today. They had UNM at the #1 spot and dropped BYU down to #4 after the loss to the Lobos. This that is too harsh?
They also still have UNLV and SDSU in the rankings, meaning they once again have more teams in the rankings than the Pac-10.
What is everyone's thoughts on BYU being placed in the Salt Lake Region. They hurt their chances by losing at home to UNM but wow.... that would be such a huge advantage if they got to play a sweet 16 game at home.
New Best in the West Rankings (Zags at #3)
The latest best in the west rankings from theleftcoastbias.com
After the LMU loss the Zags dropped to #3 but remain ahead of Cal. What is everyone's thoughts on GU being able to stay in Spokane for the tourney? Did they blow their chance or can they still stay home if they win out?
I personally think they will be able to stay in Spokane if they win out, but after the latest loss, other WCC teams know GU is beatable and is gonna analyze every minute of the USF and LMU game tape

Best in the West college Basketball Rankings
www.theleftcoastbias.com is a new site that does weekly best in the west college basketball rankings. They have been giving the Mountain West lots of love lately. They have 4 teams in their top ten, with New Mexico at number 2 and BYU at number 3. There is a chance that the top 4 teams from the MWC could get into the Big dance, which is pretty crazy considering the Pac-10 might only get one team. What are everyone's thoughts on seeding for UNM? Could they get a 3 seed if they finish strong. Their RPI is in the top ten
Best in the West College Basketball Rankings
We all have seen Steven Bardo's best in the west rankings on GU games. Here is another writer's take.
http://theleftcoastbias.com/?p=790
They have Gonzaga at the top spot, but don't include Portland like Bardo does. It is so crazy how bad the Pac-10 really is this year. The Mountain West is better and could get 3-4 teams into the tourney, while the Pac-10 has a serious chance of only getting one team (Cal). This is a new site that has had some interesting pieces on West Coast sports
