Bluebird Banter Possible Expanded Playoffs by 2012

Bud Selig likes expanded playoffs idea

At least two more wild card teams will make the postseason, a total of 5 teams per league. I personally have always pulled for more playoffs teams. MLB currently only has 8 playoffs spots, compared to 16 for NBA, 16 for NHL. Allowing 10 will certainly help that one small market team per division to have a shot that making the playoffs.

With the Jays farm system on pace to compete in 2012, possible playoff expansion and even division realignment is great news for the Jays and us fans. For it? Against it? Will it happen? What do you think?

Bluebird Banter The Doctor is Perfect

Roy Halladay just tossed Major League's 20th perfecto against the Marlins. The Phillies scored only 1 run on an error, but it was still enough as the Phillies beat the Marlins 1-0.

Congrats to the Doctor. Its only fitting that one of the greatest pitchers of this generation tosses a no-no, and none more deserving than Roy. His unmatchable work-ethic is a sight to see and it translates to a work of art on the mound. God Bless you, Doc.

Bow down to the Doctor.

Bluebird Banter Take a Guess: When will Cito take Overbay out of the 5 hole?

When do you say enough is enough? Overbay has the lowest hitting %s(AVG/OBP/SLG) of every starter in the lineup, yet he continues to hit in the 5 hole. Okay, we get it, his D is great, but at least move him lower in the lineup. The 5 spot is an RBI spot, and Gonzalez, Buck and Bautista all have more RBIs but still hit behind Overbay. How do you justify putting a batter with an OPS of .570 in the middle of the lineup? The thing that racks my brain is that the decision is so easy, where a 10 year old with basic knowledge in sequential math can make, but this lame-duck manager known as Cito refuses to do it. I know Cito is smarter than a 10 year old, but please, enough is enough. How many more inning ending double-plays do we have to see Overbay hit into, how many more strikeouts/pop-ups in key situations do we have to endure watching? And Overbay SHOULD be asking to hit lower. Take one for the team, please.

The way this is going, Overbay will be in the 5 hole for the rest of the year, and that just makes me sad.
