Sooo.... did we even "need" that 7th win?
Could we have got a bowl with only 6 wins??? I know that the immeidate answer is "no - two wins came against silly little I-AA (I refuse to adopt this new-fangled language that the NCAA is forcing on us) schools, so we needed 7 wins."
But take a look at this article -- www.azcentral.com/sports/asu/articles/2010/11/30/20101130asu-football-bowl-hopes.html

TCU Accepts Big East Offer!
According to the Sporting News (they break stories?), TCU is joining the Big East for all sports beginning in 2012 -- www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2010-11-29/report-tcu-accepts-offer-to-join-big-east-conference
Long time coming... Jimmy B. Named AP Coach of the Year
Congrats to James Arthur.... and thanks for a season to remember.
Syracuse is #1 in your hearts... and your computer databases
In case any of TNIAAM's finest have not yet noticed, Syracuse currently has the best RPI in the country. #1. Numero uno.

Even more interesting, a different computer model is predicting that the Cuse finishes the season with the #1 RPI, and ends the season with the #6 Strength of Schedule.

Good times. It's very good to be Orange these days.....
Syracuse Ranked #1 Basketball Team in the Country
According to Ken Pomeroy (who invented the RPI and has since come up with a number of other metrics used to evaluate the strength of college hoops teams), Syracuse is the best basketball team in the country this year. Hands down. No questions asked.
They might as well just give us the trophy right now.
(Please note that this will likely not be accurate in twelve hours.... so enjoy it while it lasts.)
Seton Hall Game
And so it begins...
If you live in NYC or are going to the game against Seton Hall on Wednesday, chime-in and let us know where you are going pre- and post-game.
I noticed that the Orange Frenzy event is only scheduled for Thursday. Although I love the confidence exhibited by electing to schedule the pep rally-type atmosphere for a date on which we are not automatically playing, that still leaves me with the issue of finding somewhere to get my drink on with people who know what I'm talking about when I mention Eli, Buzz Shaw and Trooper John.
Thoughts? The usual haunts near MSG (Mustang Harry's/Sally's) will likely be jammed with randoms. Brother Jimmy's? That roof-top place (is it called Local)? Other suggestions?
What is the best BET Seed for the Cuse?
So it looks like the Cuse will most likely be getting either the #6 or #7 seed in the Big East Tournament. #8 could still be in play, while #5 is not. So that begs the question - which seed do we want?
Let's ignore the #8 for right now, because although possible, WVU would have to beat Lousiville and PC would have to beat Nova - I don't see both things happening. So let's compare #6 vs #7.
They both require you to play a monster in the third round (most likley Pitt or Lousiville), so I think the consideration is better focused on who we would play on Wednesday night. As of today, #6 would get the winner of St. Johns-USF, while the #7 would get the winner of ND-Rutgers. That makes #6 look much better today. However, if everything goes as expected this week for G'Town (beats DePaul), SH (lose @ Cinci) and SJU (lose @ ND), then G'Town would move up to the #11 seed and likely play the #6 seed on Wednesday. In that scenario, I might actually prefer being the #7 seed, thereby presumably getting the winner of ND-Rutgers.
Thoughts?
Also, does anyone know of a place laying out all of these scenarios with a focus on the impact to the Cuse?
