I received the following e-mails from Frisco and the RedHawks this afternoon. Thought I'd share in case anyone is planning on going to games this weekend.

Frisco:

Due to likely inclement weather caused by the approach of Hurricane Ike, Saturday’s Game Four of the 2008 Texas League Championships will be postponed until Sunday, September 14th at 6:00pm. If necessary, Game Five will now be played Monday, September 15th at 7:00pm.

Tickets for “Game E” will be honored at the gates. In addition, anyone holding a ticket for Saturday, September 13th’s game can use that ticket to gain admission to Sunday’s game.

Please be sure and call 972.731.9200 or go to www.ridersbaseball.com for more information.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your support of the RoughRiders.

Scott Sonju

OKC:

Please be advised that tomorrow’s PCL Championship game has been moved to 12:05. It was previously scheduled to start at 2:05.

Go REDHAWKS!!!!

RW

I know a lot of you facebook (since you quote players pages! LOL) so I was hoping someone could help me out. One of my friends has convinced me to finally get a facebook account because she said a bunch of our old HS friends are on there. I signed up and did searchs by school, but I can't view anyone's page? They all come up private. Is facebook defaulted to private? Or does everyone set their page to private? Or am I just missing somethng? I found a few people I think are old friends but their pics are too small to tell definitely and their last name is different. I figured if I could see their page I can tell if it is them based on what they say (like you can on myspace) but I can't access anyone's page. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance! (and yes, sorry to waste space on an OT matter!)

He's apparently joining the RedHawks (not sure if he is supposed to start tonight or not) and Nick Trzesniak was sent down to AA. I'm sure we all expected this. They were just waiting until the end of our road trip I guess...

Not to jinx it, but if we win tonight, we'll go into August with a lead of no less than 11 games in our division...of course, if Nelson is traded or called up, we'll probably need them!

Hopefully this isn't already posted in another thread, but I didn't see it anywhere. He was promoted from Clinton to Bakersfield today. Yet another player on the fast track it appears. I have a total man crush on this kid (yes, girls can have man crushes!) so fingers crossed he holds up in the hitter friendly Cal League.

That's at least 6 starters for the Blaze (assuming they keep Romero in their starting rotation) so maybe Kasey or Evan Reed get promoted? Hopefully Kasey!

Go John Danks!

Jason Stanford. Formerly of the Indians and most recently the Mexican League. He's apparently going to be activated tomorrow before the game and start for us (RedHawks). I believe someone will have to be taken off the roster to make room for him.

In other news, our starter tonight will be Brian Gordon on 3 days rest...thank god we are playing Albq. so we have a chance to win!

Are we there yet? Why do we need 75 words anyway? I think Adam just wants to hear me talk! :-) LOL

Go RedHawks!

Chris Davis just hit a grand slam....just thought I'd share! :-)

Not the greatest outing for Kason.

blah, blah, blah......

blah, blah....

Well, since I am killing space...

Slightly off topic, but does anyone think the Rangers have plans to call Jason Botts up at any point this season or have they written him off?

It's really hot here today....90's....and yet we have day baseball? I just don't get it.

Have I hit 75 words YET?!?!?

Assuming the great Shroom's schedule holds true for the next couple of weeks, the Clinton Rotation for the period I am looking at is going to go Castillo, Holland, Beavan. I'm planning on catching a couple of their games and can either do Castillo/Holland (most convenient) or Holland/Beavan. Which would be better?

***Your FanPost must be at least 75 words long. Right now it's only 56 words long.
Wonder if he is going to pitch today? Maybe Luis Mendoza is still having blister issues (wishful thinking probably!)

Oh, and did I mention that Bill White came in with bases loaded in the top of the 9th and struck out the side?

Jason Botts DFA'd per Evan Grant

WTF?!?!? Another example of how stupid the Rangers are I guess...

here is the link: http://rangersblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/04/jason-botts-has-been-dfad.html

Here is what he said:

The Rangers this afternoon, perhaps momentarily, will announce that Jason Botts has been designated for assignment and that Chris Shelton's contract will be purchased. The club is desperate for another productive right-handed bat in the lineup and Botts simply hasn't taken advantage of whatever limited opportunities he's been given. He is hitting .158 in 38 at-bats. The move will give the Rangers 10 days to trade, release or outright Botts to Triple-A. If he clears waivers, the Rangers absolutely want to keep him in the system, but with the season hanging on the edge of a cliff, the Rangers need somebody with a little bit of a track record of big league success against left-handers. Shelton will see time in the first-base rotation, certainly against left-handers, but it won't surprise me if he gets some time against right-handers, too.

Brandon Boggs is expected to be called up to replace Hank Blalock, but to get Shelton on the roster, the Rangers had to take somebody off the 40-man roster. It appears, Botts is the guy. His career with the Rangers, which began in 2000 as a 46th round draft choice, is now more in limbo than ever before.
