I guess this is what happens when you put the two dumbest players in the league on the same team.

"KG called me a cancer patient, I'm pissed because, u know how many people died from cancer, and he's tossing it like it's a joke,"

Charlie Villanueva.

If anyone had any doubt what a low-class punk Kevin Garnett is, here you go.

For all you people who wanted Delonte, he may be available again. Of course, the reason he may be available again is probably the same reason the Bulls passed on him this summer.

The Decision . . . Part Deux

"Bulls add to their depth, sign former Spur Keith Bogans to a two-year deal, 2nd year partial guarantee. Story up soon on NBA.com."

I guess it's a good thing the Bulls passed on all those chances to trade for him . . .

"There has been no direct contact between Bulls officials and Jackson, according to the sources, but people close to both parties have spoken and come away with the belief that Jackson would be open to a potential reunion in Chicago next season."

[I'll be more interested when it's someone besides Broussard confirming. But if true, obviously it's good that the Bulls are thinking big -ed.]

Well, I guess Phil Jackson would be a slight upgrade over Vinny.

"One NBA scout courtside insisted that, "Vinny ran three [different] plays the whole half and barely made any [play] calls. We don’t even know what to write down. They had a lot more variety last year, a lot more ball movement. It was almost like Vinny said, ‘Screw it, you guys figure it out.’ "

So basically, since none of us have played in the NBA, we have no idea what we're talking about. I didn't realize you needed to be a basketball genius to figure out that losing by 30 points every night is bad, but apparently you do. Stupid and arrogant is no way to go through life, Vinny.

"If we were losing close games you could blame the injuries," one Bull said. "But this?"

So now we have anonymous players ripping VDN in the press.

[This is exactly right, though I suppose such a statement isn't all regarding VDN. But point differential matters, and even when healthy they weren't good enough, and they're not just losing now but getting absolutely destroyed.

I still don't think VDN is fired this soon. Hollinger mentions that they have a big homestand coming up, but the next 3 games include Boston and L.A....so there's still plenty of room for more torches to be lit, and I don't think the Org. respects the fanbase enough to worry if they're upset already. -ed]

I'm guessing the Bulls have once again won the Forbes Profitability Championship.

Don't worry Ron, many Bulls fans had to drink during games too to watch those teams.

OK, it's against Golden State, but still. 55 points is amazing for a rookie.

Ironically enough, many of Gooden's coaches have been known to use those kinds of slurs to describe Gooden's defense.

"Paul outplayed Rondo on Sunday night, but the Celtics beat the New Orleans Hornets 97-87 anyway as Boston improved to 4-0 behind Paul Pierce's 27 points. After the game, Paul pursued Rondo toward the Celtics' locker room and had to be blocked by Boston assistant coaches.

"Rondo is a lucky guy, to play with guys like Pierce, [Ray] Allen and [Kevin] Garnett," Paul, who scored 22 points with eight assists, said with a sly smile.

Asked if that was meant as a slight toward Rondo, the two-time All-Star said, "No, no. He is a great point guard and he's a champion. It's my hope to achieve that."

Rondo had even less to say on the matter, which seemed to stem from a second-quarter incident when the two got tangled up under the basket after Ray Allen's 3-pointer. Referees stepped between them as words were exchanged and the players were assessed matching technical fouls.

"Rajon has requested you not ask anything about Chris Paul now, tomorrow, or any other time," Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said when Rondo limped out of the trainer's room favoring his right ankle.

"We have different styles based on what each team needs," Rondo said. "He has to do a lot more than what I have to do. My job is easy playing with these guys."

Allen scored 17 points, Kevin Garnett had 14 and Rondo had 10 assists and six points for Boston, which pulled away with an 11-3 run in the last four minutes to turn an 86-83 lead into an 11-point runaway. But even after it was over, Paul was still upset with Rondo.

The Hornets point guard walked toward the Boston locker room as the Celtics were filing off the court before Celtics' assistant coaches stopped him; New Orleans coach Byron Scott came over to retrieve him.

Rondo looked back but kept walking."

[From the fanshots. Dr. Del Negro says it's an unusual ankle injury and it's possible Rose will miss the opener. Dr. Rose (someone else took his MCAT) says there's no way he'll miss the game.

Either way, it's looking like Rose will be missing nearly the entire preseason, which isn't a good thing for a team supposedly banking on continuity and camaraderie over talent. -ed.]

OK, now I'm officially concerned.

The collective bargaining agreement with the referees expired last week, and it looks like the league is getting ready to hire scab refs. Remember, these are the guys who weren't good enough to get hired by the NBA in the first place.

It's still subject to the bankruptcy court, but the Chairman is now one step closer to owning a hopeless, money-losing hockey franchise. Congratulations, Jerry!

[From the Fanshots. I can't wait to read this. Jerry Reinsdorf: basketball scout. -ed.]

There's a lot of stuff in here, and I don't know where to begin with it. Basically, he calls Gordon a "fourth guard," and refuses to endorse VDN again.

"The changes include: the addition of two open air bars—with great views of the court—in sections 312 and 329; the addition of trendy concourse food stations with increased seating; new dining and viewing areas at the top of many sections; the addition of flat screen televisions; a new lighting system featuring photography and animation on the concourse walls; bright illumination in the seating aisles; floor-to-ceiling windows for spectacular views of Chicago’s skyline; bright graphics and signs highlighting "The Madhouse on Madison Street;" and much more."

That sign looks really lame, but whatever.

"We have the best season ticket locations available that we've had in the last 10 years!"

A Bulls ticket representative, on the phone with me a few minutes ago trying to sell me some season tickets. I guess that's a sign of how Bulls season ticket renewals have gone.

As the rejections and criticisms mounted lately, NBA executives and agents described Portland Trail Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard as "agitated" and "panicked" and even "desperate." He kept returning to teams with the same proposals, only to be dismissed again and again. All his plans had imploded.

Pritchard has long liked to talk about never laying up on the golf course and burning through cell batteries and the way that the Blazers had outworked and outsmarted the NBA. Few have been terribly impressed with how Pritchard handled the highs of the job, and now there are doubts about how he’s handling its lows.

Not a bad move by the Clips to rid themselves of Randolph.
