Just in case anyone missed it. He already has a double and two(!) triples as well. Baseball is a funny, funny game.

Whoa! Where's the WFB love?

It's not even May and you're already down on Willie Ballgame?

It's hard to find someone who can slug .285 over a full season and be a non-entity at seven different positions. No really, it is. Crimony, does anyone else have a player like that?
Naw, just you. That's how lucky the Royals are. But I've already had the pleasure of watching Willie Grass Stains for several years and I'm ready to share that pleasure with my home away from home: Kansas City. That just feels like the fair thing to do. In fact, it's more than fair. It's right!

His page on Baseball Reference says this:

Hall Of Fame Statistics Player rank in (·) Hall of Fame Standards Batting - 1 (3892), Average HOFer ≈ 50

This is so unfair. You'll never appreciate what Willie Boom-Boom brings by using these biased, prevaricating statistical measurements. Enjoy Willie Thunderstick dammit! For when he's gone, you may not see another like him in your lifetime. BTW, just think of all he can do for you in the Battle for Grass Creek.

Silva goes 7 innings, 4 hits, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 79 pitches with 58 strikes.
Granted it was against the Netherlands' murderer's row, but it was still Carlos Silva making an effective start.

Beingkenjrfinaldraft

In the spirit of Being John Malkovich!

Never mind all those moves we made and how different our roster is from last year's debacle. Never mind the new FO and manager either. It sometimes seems our whole offseason has been nothing but Griffey! Griffey! Griffey!

I just hope he stays healthy and reasonably productive.

Everyday Eddie---------> Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — "Everyday Eddie" is back with the Texas Rangers.

Left-handed reliever Eddie Guardado has signed a minor league deal with the Rangers that includes an invitation to major league spring training. Guardado was 3-3 with four saves and a 3.65 ERA in 55 appearances for Texas last season before being traded Aug. 25 to Minnesota, the team for which he was a two-time All-Star.

The 38-year-old Guardado was a key part of the Rangers bullpen last season, mainly as a setup reliever. He converted all four of his save chances when he took over as the closer briefly after C.J. Wilson had season-ending elbow surgery and before he was traded.

Deal could be worth $3 million+ with incentives.

An already legendary 'pen just got a little deeper.

All of us here in the northwest really, really wanted him to go to the Angels. That would have been such fun! Another lefty bat isn't exactly what you guys need, but now you have him.

He's not sleeping out there like Manny is known to do. He IS trying, he just isn't very good at it. He is an old school pro, he plays hard everyday and he can hit. Philly sports fans have been known to be kind of hard on their players. Don't be too hard on ol' Raul.

While you were on your way to WS glory, we were on our way to an ugly 100 loss season. The endless gifs Raul's adventures in left provided us made the season a little more bearable. Hopefully someone among you will continue this tradition.

Words of Wisdom from Steve Phillips

Steve's baseball analysis has always been very much on par with Raul's defense.  I'm sure he takes  pride in spouting out gems such as this

• The Braves are anxious to get the A.J. Burnett deal resolved. In addition to adding a starter, they're also in the market for a left fielder. They've identified free agent Raul Ibanez as the best fit because he hits for power and plays solid defense. Pat Burrell and Bobby Abreu, who are also free agents, don't interest the Braves as much because their defense is suspect.

Silvaburger-1

There are many questions about Carlos Silva's extreme weight gain this season. This may be part of the answer.

Grit

Goodbye Willie. Your sub-.300 slugging percentage may soon be forgotten, but your grit, hustle and dirty uniform will live forever.
