Grew up in South Western Michigan, hating on all the Bear, Bull, and Chi-Sox fans. Moved to Orlando after college. Still holding it down for all pro sports teams from the D.

ESPN's Outside the Lines recaps Denis Rodman's persona and where he stands today.
This man is completely responsible for where he is in life right now. But I still can't help but feel sorry for him.

Vincent Goodwill at the Detroit News
"Gone are the days when people just make a commitment like that just for the games itself," said Jeff Ajluni, executive vice president and chief revenue officer of Palace Sports & Entertainment. "Whether we're chasing a championship or in the process of building a young team, you have to give your customer base a real value."
Apparently, good basketball isn't good enough to put butts in the seats any more. For some reason, I'm feeling particularly old today. DARN KIDS WITH YOUR NEW-FANGLED MUSIC! GET OFF MY LAWN!

Ben Wallace isn't Out of the Fight Yet
Vincent Goodwill at the Detroit News gives his own perspective on the story of Ben Wallace and some of the more recent motivating factors on the day of what could be his last NBA game.
Apparently, Laurence Frank told Big Ben he may not even dress for games this year and that, predictably, pissed Ben off but also continued to motivate him to prove to Frank he deserved to play. Ben also confirms what most of us already figured out: the reason he wasn't a Piston for life was as much about Flip Saunders as it was about money.
If you're a Big Ben enthusiast (if you're not, GTFO), then this is a very interesting read.
Ben Wallace Might Not Retire
A great article by Jo-Ann Barnas at the FREEP discusses Wallace's more ambiguous state of mind as the season closes, and gives a great recap of the life and career of one of the greatest Pistons of all time.

"I feel great at the plate," Inge said. "I consider a quality at-bat squaring it up and hitting it on the screws. I’ve done that a lot. I don’t have much to show for average, which I really don’t care about. I’ve learned -- especially after last year (when he hit .197) -- I don’t care one bit. I’m having fun playing baseball, and I will continue to have fun.
"I will never let numbers bring me down again. I’ve hit a lot of balls right at people."
Brandon Inge as quoted by John Lowe at the FREEP after yesterday's tie with the Marlins. After another 0-3 day, and an 0-12 week, Inge is now batting .159 in spring training.
" [I'm] someone who gets motivated by people who doubt me. People think I can't do things, and every time we acquire someone else, I use it as motivation: I'm better than what they think.
"After awhile, it's like, 'Man, how many times do I have to prove myself to you?'"
"We know I'm not an isolation player unless I'm in a good flow, but hey, tie game, you have the ball in your hands — the most important thing you want to do is get a shot up, give yourself a chance."

Barry Sanders shows some of his personality in this commercial for the "Barry Sanders Supercenter" (car dealership). Plus, we get to see Barry spike a football. Something I don't ever remember seeing him do during a game.
STEP AWAY FROM THE MOOSE
Per Terry Foster, part of what's keeping Tayshaun Prince a Piston is his role in "coaching" the youngsters. He specifically mentions Prince's role in developing Greg Monroe as a leader.
Along the way, Foster also manages to convince himself and try to convince others that Prince is an All-Star, although he's never actually managed to get to an All-Star game as anything other than a spectator. WTF Terry?
Ben Wallace: Pistons Don't Have & Must Get Elite Defender
Ben Wallace says that you are born as a great individual defender; it's not something that can be taught.
Terry Foster reports Wallace indicates that the Pistons don't have an elite defender now, and must get one via draft of free agency to become title contender again.
"Those are assets. Rebuilding is not about letting assets walk," Dumars said Wednesday night on 971 The Ticket. "Stuckey is 24 or 25 (he's 25). He's a young guy and part of the rebuilding process. Tayshaun Prince, when you look at rebuilding, there is always going to be one veteran you have going forward with young guys."
"You don't let assets walk," Dumars said. "That is not how you rebuild. Tayshaun is a veteran and he is an asset. He is the one veteran we committed to moving forward."
