Ever wonder what happens at SEC coaches meetings?
This is bar far one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time around here. Lot's of great comedy in there. I hope there is much more like this one to come. It may be a long read for some of you yall but well worth it.
SCENE: The free breakfast bar at a Holiday Inn in Destin, Florida. Florida head coach URBAN MEYER and Alabama head coach NICK SABAN are hunched over plates of bacon and eggs and appear to be deep in conversation.
Florida Principal Bars Vols Recruiters -- By: Clay Travis of Fanhouse
"The average SAT at Pahokee is 780, the average ACT is 16.3, the school is below average in every major statistical computation used for testing students. Yet the principal of this school is trying to keep students from receiving scholarship offers from one particular college. Something, to be honest, he doesn't have the actual authority to do. A public high school principal can't ban one particular college -- his rival no less -- from recruiting athletes. Put simply, he doesn't have the authority to single them out. All he does is make overworked educators look out of touch, petty, and unintelligent."
Hopefully This Won't Get Banned
Here is a funny video I saw today while surfing the boards. Since the Little Mermaid has been getting all the attention today I thought maybe a small diversion would be nice. I hope you you all get a chuckle out of this like I did. It is simply called Alabama Rehab. Remember kids drugs are bad, okay?
"now I won't do it in church now... well unless..."
Anyone else they should show this video to recruits? Or maybe at the next fund raiser?
Jerry Green vs. Bruce Pearl
I know that sounds silly but hear me out. I have been hearing a lot on the radio about best Vol players in last 20 years and and then the all Vol team on this site and something I have noticed time and time again is that people pick A LOT of Jerry Green players.
No doubt about it that he had some really talented players. I also remember this team well since because at the time I was at UT. There was so much talent and it put us on the map nationally, but they just couldn't put it all together.
I know that in a heads up of who is the better coach Bruce wins this everytime but...
Here is the real question. Let's say Bruce gets to coach Jerry Green's players and he also gets to Coach his current team... which team wins? Jerry's Kids or Bruces Kids?
As a friendly reminder here are the players
Jerry's Kids:
Marcus Haslip
Vincent Yarbrough
Ron Slay
Jon Higgins
Tony Harris
C.J. Black
Four members of the 2000-01 team became 1,000-point scorers: Yarbrough (1,737); Harris (1,588); Slay (1,569) and Victor (1,304.
Yarbrough, Higgins and Harris rank Nos. 3, 4 and 5, respectively in career starts.
Bruce's Kids:
JuJuan Smith
Chris Lofton
Tyler Smith
Wayne Chism
J. P. Prince
Scotty Hopson
Lane and Layla's New Home
Very nice slideshow of their new West Knoxville home... Anyone know where Coach Ed and crew will be living yet?
Open Thread For Vol Calls
I know I am getting in on this late but so much good stuff to talk about. Anyone else out there listening and want to comment I figured why not here live?
I love what I'm hearing so far about the Offensive and Defensive Lines and as well what he has to say about Crompton.
Also seems like the callers are really getting into the Kiffin hype. I also love the way Kiffin answers questions. So much better listening experiance than listening to Fulmer.
Apparently all of Wyoming only owns 1 computer and s/he is not suprised.
Bryce Brown talks about his decision
Rivals reporter was able to talk to Bryce about his decision and why he chose Tennessee. Repeatedly he made it very clear this was a spiritual choice and that God made it clear for him.... soooo.... and I know this is gonna make some people angry and I really hate when other people quote things out of context but I can't resist...
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Florida's Urban Meyer delivers R-Rated speech on football, family
Meyer was the featured speaker at the Nike "Coach of the Year" clinic coordinated by Liberty High assistant Jim Tkach. The leader of Gator Nation didn't disappoint with a colorful presentation complete with lots of uses of a four-letter word that begins with an "s" and ends in a "t." No wonder Meyer didn't want cameras in the room for his speech.
Prince is Vols royalty
In two seasons with the Tennessee Vols, J.P. Prince seems to have spent more time in the training room than in the lineup. When he isn't hurting, though, he's putting a hurting on opponents.
Alabama Unveils Racy New Recruiting Strategy [Humor]
Developing story out of Tuscaloosa...
The recruiting world is atwitter with the latest volley lobbed in the battle of SEC recruiting.
On Tuesday, word leaked of Ed Orgeron's shirtless tactics to rally visiting juniors in an effort to pump them up about being a part of the Tennessee culture.
Though the approach was instant fodder for praise and criticism throughout the southern media, one thing was certain: the Volunteers were again at the forefront of recruiting news.
Not everyone was content to stand aside and watch as Lane Kiffin's staff made wave after wave on the recruiting scene. Not one to readily accept being outdone, we have an exclusive account of Nick Saban’s attempt to one-up Lane Kiffin's upstart recruiting staff.
Urban Meyer Comments on Kiffin
"When asked about the Lane Kiffin controversy, Urban Meyer had this to say to the Orlando Sentinel: "
Oku sticks to word
Oku, the nations' No. 1 all-purpose back, told Rivals.com Thursday evening he has signed his national letter of intent with Tennessee, the school he originally committed to early in the recruiting process before he opened his recruitment again and looked at schools like Auburn, Syracuse, Ole Miss and others.
Kiffin has raised profile without coaching a game
If you think all the attention Tennessee’s new coach has gotten in his first 100 days has been a negative for him and the team, think again.

Kiffin's CrunkTasTic TheaTrics sTriaghT from Carrol's Playbook
I don't know about you guys but I have been going crazy about news today streaming from players about Junior Day at UT over the weekend. The talk about Kiffin from day one and his staff has been all about recruiting.
This weekend we got a peek into a 70+ recruiting session which had coaches beating down doors like rabid animals and ripping off their shirts Hulkamania style while players like Eric Berry and Jonathan Crompton were leading chants of U-T WILD BOYS! over and over and even knocking over podiums.
I did some snooping and discovered this is right out of Carrol's play book. Is UT on the way to becoming the USC of the East? If it means more stories like the one I read today then bring it on!
Here is a video of Carrol and Staff shirtless and getting crunktastic!

Chism maybe learning???
Chism played 25 mins and had 18 points in the win Sunday over the Gaytors. The stat line that made me the most happy however was this. 1-1 from Outside the arch. This shot was a wide open shot near the top of the arch.
Last game verses MSU 2-6 from 3 range with only 12 points in 28 mins.
Verses UK 1-7 from 3 range with 10 points in 30 mins.
I hope Chism pays attention to this and see that when you let the others players on the team do what they are good at (playing outside) and you do what you are good at (playing inside) it produces much greater results.
Think about this. A couple of missed 3 pointers from Chism in this game instead of inside baskets could have cost Tennessee the game today. Think about that Chism... how many other close games have we lost because of his poor shot selection from outside?
What do you do with problem called Chism?
Today's game verses Kentucky was a complete failure. I really don't think Pearl is a bad coach. However, when I and everyone else can can see that Chism is not a wing player, why does Pearl keep using him in that role or let him play almost every trip down the court outside? Has Pearl created a monster that he can't control? Or does Pearl really think that is the place "role" for him? The only other thought I have, is that his asthma is getting worse and he stands outside a good portion of the time because he can't handle working hard underneath all game. Peronsally I think he has become a cancer.
List of players who can play the 3rd man better than Chism:
1. Hopson
2. Prince
3. Smith
4. Childress
5. Tatum
Why can't Chism just play under the basket? He will get better looks and allow his team better looks at what they do. And as terrible as our team shoots with all the second chance points under the basket Chism's numbers would be amazing. I'm thinking 15 boards and 25 points a game for him.
Pearl needs to get this image post it the locker room and then set it on fire.
No more Chism. Please. You are not a shooting guard. Get boards and take the ball the to rim. You will thank me later when you are making millions in the NBA.
Bryce Brown Talks His Upcoming Visit To Tennessee And His Thoughts About The Program
Bryce Brown was interviewed by rivals asking him to break down each school he is considering. Seems like he is still heavily favoring Oregon but also said that he is not 100%. He was also asked about his upcoming visit to Tennessee and his thoughts about Kiffin and Chaney and if he could see himself fitting in on Rocky Top.
To be honest, it doesn't seem like we have much of shot. One thing that is very encouraging about the interview is the kid sounds smart, smarter than most recruits sound. I think it's very rare when you can combine God given football talent with God given intellegence.
This kind of excites me in that I feel like the cards are extremely stacked against us in getting him plus with hearing how smart he sounds it just adds to his "wantability." So if Kiffin and crew can land this guy it just makes it an all the better OMG moment. GO VOLS! and happy recruiting.

Life in the fast Lane; 1 on 1 video interview with Lane Kiffen
Lane Kiffin has got to be slamming some of Coach O's RedBulls just listen to what his life is like here in or not here in Knoxville.
This video is great and lets us see a side of Kiffin we haven't seen yet. WBIR did a great job with this video.
10 News Sports Director Steve Phillips. Kiffin talked about his new son, recruiting, his current squad and the all-star coaching staff he has assembled.

Jack Del Rio
If anyone saw the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars game last sunday then you saw Jack Del Rio's face on the sidelines. He looked like his heart had been ripped out of his chest. Del Rio is in my opinion a great coach. He has done great things in Jacksonville and has the intensitiy you like to see in a football coach.
The word on the street is he may have interviewed this week for the UT football job. I had never considered him a candidate but when I thought back to his face after Sunday's loss and his losing season a light bulb went off in my head. This is definitely something to keep our eyes on. I think he would be a much better choice than a Brian Kelly. Leach is still my man, but I would be happy with a Del Rio.
Do Your Job.
This is a must watch video any for any Mike Leach fans out there. I think Mike Leach can be a little odd at times. But it's videos like this that make him out to be what he really is. A great football coach. Someone please forward this on to Mike Hamilton. He needs to see that this is one Coach that we can't let go somewhere else. Do your Job. Hire Mike Leach. Arrrrrrrrrr!
