Roll 'Bama Roll Victor Ellis Passes Away

As many of you know former Bama player Victor Ellis had been battling a serious form of kidney cancer.  Earlier this evening Victor passed away.  He had been sent to the cancer center in Houston recently to see if there was anything they could do for him.  The doctors told him just days ago that there was nothing else they could do.  Lets keep his family and friends in our prayers.

Roll 'Bama Roll Auburn Student Killed

http://www.oanow.com/oan/news/local/article/auburn_death_under_investigation/7441/
As a Bama fan who is a student at Auburn, I can say that today is a sad day on the Plains.  Last night an 18 year old freshman named Lauren Burk was shot and killed on College Street(the main street going through town).  Thirty minutes later he car was found on fire in the parking lot by the band practice field.  Unfortunately this is the type of society we live in.

Roll 'Bama Roll Nutt to Ole Miss

Bumped from the diaries. The state of Mississippi just got a lot more competitive.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3129559

Just hours after leaving Arkansas Nutt agreed to take the Ole Miss job.  It says he meets the criteria they are looking for in a proven winner.   I'm not sure if he can carry  his winning at Arkansas over to Ole Miss, but they do have some good young talent there.  My guess is recruiting will probably not be as good as it was under Orgeron.  He might not be a good head coach, but the man sure can recruit.

Roll 'Bama Roll Alabama's new baseball coach is...

...none other than Jim Wells.  As a huge baseball fan it hurts me to see this happen.  It is certainly a sad day for Alabama baseball.  Just when there was the opportunity to take a big step forward Mal Moore lets them take a huge step backwards.

Roll 'Bama Roll Jim Wells to step down

I know there aren't a lot of baseball fans out there that read this, but word is Jim Wells is on his way out.  Word his he met with his assistant coaches and one of them leaked it to a friend.  Wells was great for the program, but it has peaked under him.
http://tidesports.com/article/20070621/TSBASEBALL/70621005/1011  Hopefully they'll get Bobby Pierce from Troy(he played at Bama) or John Cohen from Kentucky(he's from Tuscaloosa and played for Bham Southern and Ron Polk at Miss. State).  Pierce just interviewed for the Tennessee job but didn't get it.  They gave it to the coach from Western Carolina.  It's hard to believe he's better than Pierce.

Roll 'Bama Roll Fat Phil, the poor tipper

I saw this on a message board and thought it was funny.  Lots of other interesting stories on there besides his. http://www.stainedapron.com/celebs.htm

Phillip Fulmer (Head Football Coach, Univ. of TN):

I waited tables at a restaurant on "The Strip". Party central if you're a UT student. Phil came in with his wife and three kids one night and I was afforded the luxury of putting up with them. Phil is an *, his wife is a ** and his kids reflect precisely the sort of people their parents are. Kids ate free at that restaurant back then so the total bill for the table (a five top) was $18.52 (this has been a few years). I received a whopping $1.50 for the tip, after kissing his *, and hers and putting up with the brats. Y'know, Phil, you're a Head Coach for a nationally recognized football program. Your salary is published in the ** paper (working for a state institution makes your salary public domain). It's bad enough you're an idiot, and your wife is a ** and your kids are a pain in the *...I guess coughing up a decent tip is just too much for you. ***hole.

Roll 'Bama Roll Shula to the Dolphins?

According to the Miami Herald Shula has interviewed for the head coaching position, TWICE!

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/16473100.htm

I read it and I still don't believe it.  Why in the world would he get a chance to be an NFL head coach when he can't even win at one of the top colleges in America?  I know it's all because of his name, but if I were the owner I would want a winner so my team would win, bring in more fans, and in turn, more money.
