Are you the type of person, like me, that will play a game of MLB 2k7 in the dead of winter? Or maybe are you old school and fire up the Nintendo to play RBI baseball 3, the version that featured all the division winners from 1983 - 1990.

What is the best baseball video game you ever played? My fuzzy memories recall a game Triple Play 97 with Tony Gwynn on the cover. For some reason, I remember playing this on my Sega...but I can't find anyone else who played it, unless they played it on their PS 1. Anyway, this game was impressive (for its time) Multiple camera angles, fielders diving for the ball, climb the wall to snag homers, and even running into each other. If you just back and ponder a strategy, the players will kick dirt around or slap their gloves.

But there was one very cool feature. When you broke a record, such as homeruns in a single season, the game would flash that record along the bottom, like it was running across an electric scoreboard. There was some production, recognizing the record-holder and the milestone that you reached! Kind of a cool thing I wish games nowadays would include.

I was shocked and sad to hear of his passing. I didn't even know he had cancer, albeit a very rare form of cancer. I'll always remember him as a competitor on the mound. He stood out (to me at least) as a pitcher with a lot of talent and promise. It is a shame that arm problems robbed him of playing time in 1998 when the Cubs won the wild card.

I guess, since he grew up in Evanston and attended Cubs games as a kid, I'm glad that he had a chance to live out his dream

What a time to be a sports fan. History is set to take place as the Chicago Cubs are poised to take the 2008 playoff plunge as back to back division winners! (A rarity!)

And the Nebraska Cornhuskers are about to be thrust upon the nation once again first with Va Tech this Saturday, then with Mizzou the following week

Ah yes
Back in their rightful place amongst the elite. (well, once we've knocked off Va Tech and Mizzou of course) I don't think it out of the question or impossible. I think
we have a very good chance of winning both games. Is that so wrong to be confident? (I'm not saying a blowout or shut-out...that would be a little too cocky)
I'm just getting sick and tired of no one on national sports TV mentioning these Huskers as a serious threat to the Big 12 North.
I see the way this team plays. They have a heart and swagger that has seriously been absent from the previous coaching regime.
Pelini has a warm, open communication with AD Dr.Tom Osborne, which is a welcome refresher to the cold and distant relationship Callahan had.
I just read that Shawn Watson has been talking with Osborne about running the option?!? Well, certain parts of it anyway.

I know the Huskers will never be again like they were from 1970 - 2001.

All I ask is to see them back in the national spotlight.

Not to take anything away from Zambrano and Lilly's performances, it is painfully obvious that the Astros have their heads (and hearts) somewhere else rather than in the game in front of them.

At a time when they were just heating up, their city is ravaged by Hurricane Ike and the team is forced to take what is in essence a long road trip (this series against the Cubs in Milwaukee and then its on to Miami)

Would Big Z have turned in a No No if the game where to have been played in Arlington or St. Louis?

I know what you all are going to say. "I shouldn't feel bad for them." You have to play your best no matter if its home or away." And really, the more I think about it, no matter where the Cubs/Astros series would have been played, Cubbie faithful would have turned out in support of their team. There are Cubs fans everywhere!

What do you guys think? Does Cecil Cooper have a legitimate bone to pick or is he just whining and making excuses for the Stros lethargic play?

Taking nothing away from the upcoming Braves series, I personally am looking forward to the Marlins this weekend.

Maybe that is because I have tickets for Sat Night...hmm...

Anyway, why do you think the Cubs have such a hard time beating Florida? I don't remember the numbers very well off hand, but overall the Fish have played us hard. I hope that either Big Z or Dempster goes for us Sat Night

So anyone else from the community playing on attending the Marlins game? If you are going to be sitting along the 3rd baseline near the bullpen, maybe I'll bump into you...
