I’m a 30-something hoops fan and currently live out west with my husband and three perfect humans.

I’ve found that blogging about my favorite sports teams and interacting with my fellow fans that way has made me an even better fan, it keeps me super informed, and, not to mention, it’s a hell of a lot of fun, too.

Cousins Named SEC Player Of The Week

More SEC honors for one of our Wildcats.

Ramon Harris on Becoming a Father

This is a wonderful story. Larry Vaught talks with Ramon about his role as a father. Guess which team member Ramon trusts to baby-sit? (I think the answer is fabulous, very touching, and says a lot about our current team. So neat to hear.)

Cousins in the Big Apple

This is a picture of DeMarcus Cousins from Coach Cal's Twitter page. Apparently, Cousins is asking random people on the streets of New York about UK. I thought it was pretty cute, and funny.

Kentucky Basketball: Dear Santa

Kentucky Basketball: Dear Santa Letter.

Behind John Wall

I think this is a phenomenal piece about John Wall. Fair warning, the article is a bit lengthy, but it's worth the time as it gives you an extensive look into John Wall's life. The piece talks about Wall losing his father and how that affected him (I actually got a little choked up reading that part), it talks about Wall’s relationship with Brian Clifton, about Wall the person, about Wall the basketball player, about his recruitment and how he ended up at Kentucky, and even more. It really is a must read.

Youth, speed on display in UNC-Kentucky showdown

Jay Bilas breaks down the UK / UNC game. He talks about key match-ups, pace, and how DeMarcus Cousins is the "X factor". Even though Bilas ultimately chooses UNC to come away with the win, I still found this piece interesting and worth a read.

Does Wall Have Something to Prove?

I’ve noticed that the above story is garnering a bit of attention, and will more than likely gain even more steam the closer we get to tip-off on Saturday against the Heels. To be candid, I had totally forgotten about the fact that Wall is from North Carolina and might be experiencing some feelings about his recruitment by UNC, or rather, lack of recruitment going into Saturday’s game against them. Wall says that it doesn’t bother him, of course, but in the same piece goes on to say that "he grew up bleeding blue - Carolina blue". There was some discussion in Ken’s recent piece about how we match up against North Carolina and I’m fairly certain that the general consensus is that at the 1 position, the advantage definitely goes to Kentucky. But, how about when the person at the one position feels he has something to prove? Is it still an advantage to Kentucky? I’m going to say yes, and I can’t wait to find out for sure.

Have ya'll ever ordered anything from Football Fanatics?  I actually order quite a bit from them, as their selection is pretty extensive, quality is good, service is excellent, and I really like...

How I Know Its Basketball Season

NCAA Names 2011-13 Tourney Sites

Lexington was chosen as one of the hosts for first- and second-round action in 2013, while Louisville is among the early sites for 2012.

Cousins is a Badass

Yes, that's right, according to DeMarcus Cousins -- he is a badass. On the court, that is. This piece takes a look at Cousins' on the court personality and although I think some of his statements could be seen as controversial, I also think that his brazen, get-in-my-way-and-you’d-better-watch-out style of play is something we have been missing and I’m personally really looking forward to seeing it.

Player of the Year Candidates -- Rank 'Em

Andy Katz has picked his top 15 POTY candidates for this coming season. The above link gives you the chance to rank 'em for yourself. I found it rather fun to take a turn and rank the potential candidates as two of our very own boys-in-blue made Katz's top 15 list.

Plenty of tantalizing combinations for Kentucky

So says Andy Katz. Also of note, ESPN lists UK as one of its "five up" for the coming season in CBB's SUMMER BUZZ. (Note: you must be an ESPN Insider to read the entire CBB SUMMER BUZZ piece.) Here is the complete list of schools and where they are on the BUZZ list. Five Up Kentucky Texas Kansas Michigan State West Virginia Five Down Louisville UCLA Memphis Arizona Syracuse Five at a Crossroads North Carolina Duke Connecticut Maryland Oklahoma

LeBron at UK today -- per Coach Cal via Twitter

This is the latest from Coach Cal via his Twitter account regarding rumors about LeBron James being in Lexington today: "Ok its official. The King was in the practice facility. LeBron James stopped to say hello on the way to an event in Mississippi". I'm sure the members of the team that got to meet LeBron were very excited, as well they should be. I wonder if anyone got any pictures, and if so, were they allowed to keep them? Hee, hee...... UPDATE: Here are a couple of pictures that are attached to Coach's Twitter page. Eight Great Minutes With Coach Cal

Calipari Audio: 2 PG's, Multiple Bigs In DDMO Great Doug Gottlieb interview with Coach including $10,000 promo for Jimmy V fund. Courtesy of Wild Weasel. This is an awesome audio with Coach. To hear Coach talking about our team is incredibly exciting, (he even mentions Liggins and boy do I hope he is right about him "surprising some people") -- dang, right now, I can’t wait for the b-ball season to start!

Floyd resigns as Southern Cal coach

This really has nothing whatsoever to do with UK sports, but I still find this interesting given the recent accusations against Floyd.

So, who are we, anyway?

Ok, in full disclosure, this idea certainly isn't original to me and many of you who have been ASOB members for a while may remember the above headline, as it's something similar to...

Congressman to NBA: Repeal one-and-done policy

Will this become a government issue? Also, other major sports sites are reporting pretty much the same thing as noted in the above link to CBS (Parrish), but here are more links if you are interested. Yahoo! Sports Fox Sports SI

Katz: Coaches need to speak up on one-and-done rule

Katz talks about how college basketball coaches should start a campaign to try and convince the NBA to abandon the one-and-done rule. I found this piece really interesting, and I think Katz makes great points.

Wall Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor

According to this, Wall will enter a program for first time offenders and could end up having his record cleared.

ESPN Grades SEC Basketball Recruiting

No surprise here, UK received a glowing A+. Oh, and for those recruiting guru’s out there, here is the list of grades by major conference.

Per Tipton: Stewart, two others possibly off UK team

Tipton also talks a bit about this being the possible reason for the presser set for tomorrow, 05/23/09 at 10 am EST. Hat Tip: John Clay's Sidelines

WKYT Interview with Coach Calipari

Hat Tip: Wild Weasel. Although it’s 20 minutes in length, if you get a chance, check out this awesome interview with Coach Calipari. There are a lot of interesting tidbits covering a wide range of topics. Good Stuff. I really liked the bit about not caring about recruits’ actual rankings and I also found it interesting that Coach noted that he never promises recruits that they will start, but rather that they all have to compete for their spots. Oh, and for those of you overanalyzing his symbol tweet from yesterday, he thinks you’re crazy. Hee hee.

No rush for Wall

"We are going to have more specific conversations in the next few days," Clifton told Jerry Meyer of Rivals. "John has never mentioned to me that he feels the need to make a decision by May 20 [the end of the spring signing period]."

University of Kentucky or Calipari/DDMO U?

Is it the University of Kentucky or Calipari/DDMO U? What is the perception of today's top recruits?

2009-2010 a more entertaining basketball season?

Dana O’Neil thinks so. One of her reasons: The blue bloods are back, such as Kansas and Kentucky. And, "thanks to John Calipari turning recruiting into an arms race, there could be so much friction when Kentucky and Louisville meet in Rupp Arena the Commonwealth might actually combust."

Coach Calipari's call-in show -- 04/16/09

For those of you who missed it and are interested in listening, or those of you who just can't get enough of Coach Cal and want to listen again, you should be able to catch last night’s radio show here. UPDATE: Courtesy of a poster on Cats Pause: CLICK PART I CLICK PART II
