Damn shame too. Seems like a good kid. I hope he was just trying to make weight as opposed to masking something...

Interesting Chris Carr stats
I knew Chris has been doing a bang-up job but I had no idea how well. I was doing a bit of research and happened across a great site that details NFL records, history, etc.
It seems that Chris is ranked 3rd among active players in the number of kicks he has returned as well as yardage. Not bad for a guy who has been kicked around a bit!
Bang it here for more info. Beware though you can lose yourself in that site for hours!
The cornerback question
A lot has been made the past couple days about our depleted ranks at corner. Well as we all knew Jeff and his staff would eventually make a move to cover the situation. The Titans have signed Tyrone Poole and moved up Tuff Harris from the practice squad. In order to accomodate the new DBs Eric King and Rey Hill (awww darn) will be headed to IR.
You can read the article in the Tennessean here

What Brett has to look forward to or why Chad is glad he's in Miami.
Fisher parachutes into practice
I'm sure August will cover this in tomorrow's link section but I just couldn't wait. This is by far the coolest thing I've ever heard of a coach doing at practice. I imagine that Fish lost a bet or something but just the same. You can bang it here for the whole article.

He who we do not speak of
Now that “the punk” has been reinstated in Dallas what does that mean to us in terms of next year's draft? I've researched this but can't seem to find the answer. According to the terms of the trade the Titans receive a 4th rounder in the 08 draft and a sixth rounder in 09. The Cowboys would get a 4th rounder in 09 if "the punk" wasn't reinstated in 08 (which he was) or a 5th rounder in 09 if he returns and is then punished again. However, what isn't mentioned is what constitutes "returns and is then punished again". Does that mean if he is suspended for the year, just a few games, etc? Granted he has been out 4 games and likely 5 by the time he starts again but he is still with the team and will likely finish the year if the double J can hire some bodyguards who can keep their mouths shut.
At any rate, I'd hoped to shed some light on this subject but short of being granted access to the NFLPA's files I doubt I can do so. We can only hope that Jim Wyatt or Paulie K will write on this.
I've sent Paulie an email so hopefully we'll get resolution soon.
Silky Garrard is gonna have a rough Sunday afternoon!
Handicapping the Rest of the 2008 Regular Season
As I was staring at our remaining schedule at my desk and counting the hours remaining till Sunday I began to realize just how winnable each of our remaining games actually are. With our Titans 8-1 v. the spread this year (because of 1 lousy point) I decided I would try to handicap the rest of the games to see just how good our chances actually are. Here is what I came up with.
Nov.16 @Jags +3
This one was pretty easy since Covers already did the work for me. I actually think this line is a little low. Granted they had a win last week it was against the lowly Detroit kitty cats. Not to mention the fact that Del Rio has caused that locker room to implode. I probably would push this line to +6 but either way. A win is a win.
Nov. 23 Jets +3
When B-B-B-Brett Favre and the Jets come to town on the 23rd the Titans will be ready with a secondary that feeds off poor decision making QBs. The Jets rushing attack isn't horrible but it isn't stellar either. Our D-line should have no trouble. The Jets D is decent but their front 4 won't match up with well with the Titans O-line.
Nov.27 @ Lions +10
The poor poor Lions. What goes better with turkey than gravy? The Titans throwing a roundhouse kick to the Lions. While this game has some potential to be a bit of a letdown game I just can't see us losing. The Lions are inept on both sides of the ball with the exception of Calvin Johnson. Boy did Millen make a mess of that franchise. Titans win this one in a walk.
Dec. 7 Browns +6
The Browns are another team with locker room issues. With Lewis and others calling out the "quitters" in the Thursday night fiasco against Denver. Don't get me wrong; Cleveland could be a decent team but walking into the Big Album is going to be a death wish for them. No figgy pudding for Big Albert this December. It will be Brady Quinn sandwiches all night. (insert your own sexual orientation joke here). This line should probably be higher than 6 but I'm taking the Vegas approach.
Dec. 14 @ Texans +3
To me this game will be as tough as the remaining two. The Texans are a decent team and as we saw early in the year they have a good rushing attack. Their passing attack is really where their bread and butter is though. They are currently ranked 5th in total ypg and 4th in passing ypg. Containing Slaton and Johnson is a task I'm sure the Titans D will be up to but it should be a good game to watch either way. The Texans D is 29th in points allowed per game. Smash and Dash should have a field day.
Dec. 21 Steelers Even
I realize they had a monumental collapse against the Colts on Sunday night football this week but I'm not yet ready to call them overrated. Their offense with Big Ben under center isn't the best but it certainly should be respected. Their D scares the bejesus out of me though. Currently ranked 1st in yards allowed, 1st in passing yards allowed, 2nd in rushing yards allowed, and 3 in points allowed. The Steel Curtain appears to be back in full swing. This will be a tough smash mouth football game. I reserve the right to change my Even money on this closer to the game but right now these two teams look pretty evenly matched. The matchup to watch in this one will be Finnegan going against Hines Ward. Two chippy guys are bound to be entertaining.
Dec. 28 @ Colts +3
And finally we see our division rivals again. This week Fish announced he'd be playing every game no matter what happens. So I'm assuming that means we'll be playing starters in this one regardless of what happens the rest of the season. We've already seen what these guys were capable of once and our guys were more than up to the challenge. However, they will have Bob Sanders back for this game so that should add a little drama. I feel confident that KC can spread the ball around enough to keep the D from stacking the line and let Smash and Dash do their things.
Feel free to rip me to shreds for this. I reserve the right to change all of this at a moments notice due to injury, insecurity, or ignorance.
Terrible news....
I caught the flu from my kid and I will not be able to attend MNF tomorrow night. How bad does that suck?
Yes this is a ploy for your pity because that's all I have to cling to at this point. I won't even be able to enjoy wings, etc. while watching from home since it will cause me to toss my cookies. I think this is God's way of punishing me...... heh
A little preview of Monday Night.
I used to have a large version of this saved but......

Not that these awards really matter in the grand scheme of things but I think it's a good idea to show our appreciation for their efforts!
And I still need a few more words....... Didn't the Denver D-line look like the teeth on the 3rd shift at Waffle House last night?
Shaun Alexander signed by the Skins
You'd think Dan Snyder would be sick of making bone headed moves by now but it appears he hasn't. I can't imagine anyone thinking that adding Shaun Alexander to the roster makes you a better team.
And now I need some more words to fill this up. Nothing like a bunch of guys hammering you in the a$$ to celebrate a pinch hit homerun. you know that guy will never live that comment down.
What about a meetup?
This was mentioned in the comments for the weekly roll call article but I thought it might gain a bit more steam here. Who would be interested in meeting up somewhere for the Kansas City game? I was thinking somewhere like Johnathan's but if anyone has a better idea I'm willing to go wherever. I'll buy the first round of pitchers!
And now I have to type a few more words to get over 75. I'd really like to have one of those "Honk if you've sacked Brodie Croyle" bumper stickers before this game.
That on a t-shirt would be even better.

Brett Favre's boyfriend...
.... Peter King doesn't think we'll fair too well against Baltimore. I wonder if it has anything to do with all the hate mail I send him about not giving the Titans the respect they deserve? hehe I used to enjoy his columns but lately they've turned into a Patriots love fest that I just can't stand.
Tennessee Titans (4-0) at Baltimore Ravens (2-1)
I say this to Chris Johnson without knowing him or ever having met him. And I say this because I want Chris Johnson to have a long and successful career in the NFL, because he's an exciting player. But, Chris, I want you to look very closely at the tape of the Baltimore-Pittsburgh game. Notice this one thing: Ray Lewis, on a tackle you see 1,000 times a weekend in the NFL, broke Rashard Mendenhall's shoulder cleanly, knocking the kid out for the year. Ray Lewis is coming at you hard Sunday, and he'll have his friends with him. A word to the wise, kid.
Prediction: Baltimore Ravens 16, Tennessee Titans 9
VY Practices
This is really a moot point given what our 36 year old field general has been able to accomplish the last few weeks but at any rate VY was back on the practice field today according to Mike "I love rumors" Florio.
In unrelated news Mike Florio may in all actuality be a woman. Otherwise how could he be so adept as spreading rumor right? Sad that we have to put up with such nonsense to get the latest and greatest NFL news.
Pretty Good Vid
Some big hits from last season and a few from this season. Does a good job of getting you pumped up. Also, includes a clip of a Jason Whitten play from last season where his helmet was ripped off and he kept going. Gotta respect the former Vol for that one.
Gotta get the character count up so I'm just going to keep typing incoherently until I finally reach 75 words. I wish I was an Oscar Meyer weiner, that is what I'd truly like to be.........
