Silver Seven Si j'étais Bryan Murray

Okay! I am frustated with a slow summer and i can't wait for Hockey to start up again, so...

Let's start with wild speculation. Looking at the team, i see that Filip Kuba is on his last year with the senators. Let me put My GM hat. Since I would not keep him, i would try to trade him for some value. I see two possiblility. 1. Trade him to a team that is shallow on offensive defensemen for a prospect. 2. keep him until the trade deadline for  depth and possible injuries and hopefully he raises his value with a bounce back season for a pick.

I want to explain what i was looking for: Kuba for a prospect that might have some value for us but seems to be buried in another team that would need immediate help offensively on the blue line.

Matchsticks and Gasoline From a Sens' fan

I would like to have the pulse of the Calgary's truest. If the Ottawa Senators was to propose a trade to get David Moss, what would be an adequate trade in your eyes. Please keep your thoughts to logical responses. This is what you would propose to get something for Moss. What would you like and what you can get are two separate things.
I will propose some players to vote for. Please respond in the comments section. I would also like to have your opinions of Moss himself and why it seems to not be on your roster.

What would you like as a resoundable return for David Moss?

Silver Seven Completement fou...

I just looked at the numbers and this trade would be cap-compliant and totally insane.

New Jersey Devils trade: Ilya Kovalchuk - LW

With Ottawa Senators for : Alex Kovalev - RW & Brian Lee - D.

With this trade never happening. What level of never does this trade entail?

Silver Seven Let's forget the OTLs...

I recently posted this and I thought i should bring this to everybody's attention. For the past two years, I have been just looking at wins and the number 41. Here's is my well-thoughtout opinion:

The loser point doesn’t count.

Let me explain

The real number is 41 wins. Usually when you get 41 wins you are on the bubble to make the post season. The worst case was the Colorado Avalanche in missing the playoffs in 06/07 with 44 wins & the Montréal Canadiens getting in last year with 39 wins.

Here is a stat for you guys. Only 5 teams have missed the playoffs with 42 wins in a season since the lockout (5 years). If they have 43 wins then that goes down to 2 cases in 5 years. Forget the loser point and just look at the wins.

Silver Seven Why?

Nazem Kadri was picked up right before the Sens picked up Cowen. Then why is Kadri sent to the AHL and Cowen to the WHL. They are both 19 years old. I would love to have Cowen develop in the AHL instead of the WHL. The only reason i could see is that Kadri was born three months earlier.

Also, could we call up Cowen when he turns 20 to drop him the in AHL in January?

Please discuss.

Silver Seven weird and interesting trade proposal from HF boards

The weirdest trade proposal i saw. It seems to make both parties happy and it doesn't involve Karlsson or Spezza. In fact it only involves Kuba and Cheechoo from the Senators side and we get a top 4 offensive Dman, a top 6 forward, a 2010 1st round pick and a prospect. This trade was proposed by fans of the other teams and other fans seem to like it. Personnaly, I would jump on this. In fact, if I was BM and i saw this, i would try to contact the other GM to see if he is interested.

Silver Seven My senators draft wish list - 2010

I do not know why, but i am a great fan of draft day. It is one of the hockey days i most look forward to. I wanted to be more proactive and i wanted to setup a list of potential senators i would like to see in the future.

My ground rules:

  1. I select players that we have a reasonable chance of picking up. I would like to have Taylor Hall, but there is no chance that he will be available at the 16th pick.
  2. I go with organizational needs. Senators need young wingers first and defensemen last.
  3. This is really just my personnal opinions, but i am put them out there and since these are prospects, we will only see the results in years.

My picksafter the jump.
