Buffalo Rumblings Watching NFL Games

Hey guys I need some help again. I live in PA and during the football season I pretty much only get to see the Eagles and Steelers. I was looking into DirectTV but they don't offer it in my area. Is there anywhere that I can get live games over the internet? I am willing to pay I just want a safe sight. I have listened to the radio in the past but it doesn't cut it anymore. Thanks for any help in advance.

Buffalo Rumblings Quick Question

I am from central PA (and a Bills Fan cant stand living between the Steelers and Eagles Fans) and always looking to here a good morning sports talk show. I have the tunein app on my phone and I know that 97 Rock is the voice of the Bills. But is there any other radio stations up around Buffalo that talk Buffalo Sports? Sick of tuning into ESPN or another NFL Radio station and hearing nothing about the Bills. Hopeing someone can help me out....Thanks

Buffalo Rumblings Quick Stats of 2010

I just got the Sporting News for 2011. Throughout the Magazine they give some stats, thoughts on the past season, and outlook on the incoming season. I found some stats pretty interesting and saw some areas Buffalo should improve on.

By the Numbers - Team Stats - NFL Rank

Total Offense - 304.9 - 25

Rushing - 107.5 - 18

Passing - 197.4 - 24

Scoring - 283 - 28

Punt Returns - 10.5 - 13t

Kick Returns - 21.1 - 24

Red Zone TD % - 51.4 - 18

Total Defense - 361.6 - 24

Against Rush - 169.6 - 32

Against Pass - 192.0 - 3

Points Allowed - 425 - 28

Interceptions - 11- 28t

Sacks - 27 - 27t

Turnover Diff - -17 - 32

AFC Passing (min. 241+ attempts)

13. Fitz - 3000 yds - 23 tds - 15 ints - 24 sacks - 81.8 Rating

14. Henne - 3,301 - 15 tds - 19 ints - 30 sacks - 75.4 Rating

15. Sanchez - 3,291 - 17 tds - 13 ints - 27 sacks - 75.3

Overall

1) I believe we need to become more physical on the Defensive side of the ball. Just dont have the sacks and the ints that we need to help out the offense.

2) Offense is a unit for us that could come alive. Buffalo used the WRs great last year. Stevie, Lee (need some more), Roosevelt, Jones, Nelson, Parrish (before he got hurt). We have the players to bring the O alive. I would like to see a bit more of Jackson an bigger splash of Spiller and a good dose of those young WRs that can move the chains.

3) I know its not good Fitz is at the bottom of the AFC list however, he is above two QBs who had more wins so I am hoping this is a sign that Fitz can keep us in games and win some of those close games this coming year that Buffalo lost last year.

4) This lockout needs to end....so all Buffalo fans can stand behind this team. Don't ever give up hope a few years ago this team was 5-1 at one point with Edwards haha. Lets GO BUFFALO

I wish Buffalo's players would listen to this when he says "he's a man he can be hit just like us." Every player in the NFL puts there pants on the same way. Button up your chin strap and play football.....

Buffalo Rumblings Pre Combine Draft

1) Marcell Dareus, DT Alabama - can play in a 3-4 or 4-3 fits Buffalo's hybrid D

2) Rahim Moore, FS, UCLA - Buffalo came out and said its all what Whitner wants to do however if Whinter does make a deal......Justin Houston, DE/OLB, Georgia - helps out with the rush defense and this guy can flat out play

3) Kelvin Sheppard, ILB, LSU or Greg Jones, LB, Michigan State - we need another ILB both of these guys are good enough

4) Andy Dalton, QB, TCU - I like what this kid can do, lots of potential and he can sit behind Fitz and figure the NFL out for a year or twp

4) Chris Hairston, OT, Clemson - we need a RT, he is 6'7'' 325 enough said

5) Lee Ziemba, G, Auburn - comes from a tough O-line and would fit well with Wood right next to him

6) Curtis Marsh, CB, Utah State - might not be around but if he is why not depth can never hurt

7) ILB, OL, or WR

Marcell Dareus, DL - Alabama......enough said (overall a good little write up explaining the pick). Please Buffalo pick him our D could benefit A LOT.

Buffalo Rumblings Poz

As most of you are aware Poz is a free agent come the end of the year.  I just spoke with someone in the organization that told me that out of all the free agents Poz is the biggest priority as of right now.  "...The middle linebacker is on the top of our list to sign before free agency...." Just wanted to make Bills Fans aware that Poz is the biggest concern right now.  O and Whitner is all but gone....which many of us assumed.

I will not provide my source due to any issues with him/her providing information.

Buffalo Rumblings Mock Draft

As the season is only two weeks away its about that time to get into this whole draft and free agency thing.  Each round has a few options just to be a little more accurate. I do apologize for not putting a link in from http://walterfootball.com/draft2011.php where I used most of my information.

Picks:

1) Fairley is off the board, and I dont think we should use the third pick on a WR or a QB.  Green is amazing but we have WRs we need some Defensive talent and I dont see any QB really turning my head to use the third pick on.

Patrick Peterson, CB - there is no doubt this kid improves our D as soon. And second, Peterson is the best player on the board, outside of A.J. Green. Cornerbacks are seldom taken in the top three, but then again, we said the same thing about defensive tackles prior to the 2010 NFL Draft. Like Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy, Peterson is a special sort of talent that doesn't come around very often.

or

Marcell Dareus, DE/DT - Marcell Dareus would be a great fit up front in Buffalo's 3-4. With Williams, and Edwards we have a dominate front if we add Dareus.  He can only help our run D.

or

Robert Quinn, DE/OLB - Aaron Maybin is a bust and could be cut this offseason. Help is needed at rush linebacker.  Really like this guy.  I believe he could really help out as a pass rusher.  Him and Merriman plus Moats could be a good rotation.

_________________________________________________

2)  Martez Wilson, ILB, Illinois  - Using 3-4 defense, Buffalo needs some help on the inside.  If we keep poz this could be a good pick up to help out the run game.

or

Demarcus Love, OT, Arkansas  - He would be a great fit for the RT position and that would sure up our O-line.  Could be a good pick up in the 2nd round.

or

Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame  - Does Buffalo even have a TE...I dont think so.  Its time to get someone who can block and make some plays.

__________________________________________________

3)  Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina  - With Whitner possibly gone this would be a good pick up for Buffalo to get that secondary sured up again.

or

Andy Dalton, QB, TCU  - Dalton has a big upside I believe.  This kid could sit under Fitz for a year and develop and if Buffalo needs him to replace Fitz its worth a shot.  But hopefully Dalton can sit a year or two and develop.

__________________________________________________

4) Lee Ziemba, OT/G, Auburn - Buffalo needs to improve the line and what better way than to stack it with depth and talent.  Ziemba could take Woods spot at RG and than more Wood to center, but either way Ziemba makes sense at least for depth.

4) Kelvin Sheppard, ILB, LSU - Helps sure up that run D and who knows if Poz sticks around

__________________________________________________

5) Tori Gurley, WR, South Carolina - 6'5, 230 pounds big guy and could be a Red Zone target

or

Cecil Shorts, WR, Mount Union  - Smaller faster like Parrish, could fit in a slot if Parrish gets hurt or anything

__________________________________________________

Last two picks are for depth if they even make the team

6) DE, CB, or O-line

7) O-Line, DE

I know its a long shot for this to happen. But please Buffalo at least put a bid in for Asomugha. If we sit back and allow this to happen, its going to be a sad day. I know Asomugha most likely wont want to play in Buffalo but we can still try, instead of just saying "It would never happen."

Buffalo Rumblings Some Thoughts for Next Year

Some thoughts for next year

1) Merriman - I thought this was a great idea to bring him back for a 2 year deal.  This one shows that buffalo is trying to bring in names and two they believe his injuries will hold up.  Merriman can't hurt this team several times it was said he was helping moats on the sidelines.  I am not saying he will perform like he use to but still he cant hurt. Also, he brings a nature of high energy (ray lewis like...not saying he is as good though) we dont have that in buffalo we need a guy who will get in the huddle and scream his lungs out and show the passion I believe he will do that.

2) Fitz being QB - I am sure on the fact that Fitz will be the QB starting next year (I didnt say whole year).  But he cant deny this guy played well this year.  The Pats game looked bad but take that one away and he still improve 100% from what we thought was going to happen.  He has the faith of team behind him and that shows.

3) Luck - If Luck comes out he is going to Carolina no doubt.  So we have to look for another option.  Is it Cam Newton, Locker, Ponder, Mallet...i dont know but I do know we will get a QB in this draft.  I dont like Ponder, the guy had another surgery I believe (next Jason White minus the Heisman).  Locker had a bad year in general.  Newton has a big arm but still needs time to develop.  Another guy I saw perform really well was Andy Dalton from TCU, the kid looked real good in the bowl game (may not be franchise but still better than Brohm).

4) Defense - Please Buffalo build up the front 7.  Kyle Williams needs help, and if you give him one guy this draft that can do that he will only be that much better next year.  Get another LB that can pass rush, Merriman is declining we know but still while we have the crazy man he can teach the young pups if nothing else.  Moats is getting there but not just yet.

5) LT & RT - Our interior is good for right now so can we please focus on LT & RT at this point, dont need to say much here.

Focus for FA and Draft

1) Defense they didnt help our Offense at all this year.  If they could have stopped the run we win a few more games. NUMBER 1 FOCUS! LBs and DE and DT.... FA & Draft

2) O-line cant have a franchise QB sitting on his butt every play, need a line first. Draft

3) QB - We all know this...Draft

5) TE - could really help out...FA

4) Secondary - They didn't look great at all this year (new defense and adjusting to that)...FA & Draft

Buffalo Rumblings Idea for the Bills Draft

Throughout this season I believe Buffalo has shown a lot of improvement.  Buffalo has a Quarterback that the team is building around, they have WRs that are young and are showing talent, the O-line has played better than expected (at least from what I expected).  So I got thinking about how to build on the draft this year and turn this team into a .500 team in a year.  (and I dont believe we are far off just a few plays go in our favor and we are close to .500)

Round 1) DT or LB or QB

Kyle Williams has played like a beast this year but they cant stop the run, the best idea is bulk up.  Get another DT that will create great pressure and we are solid.  Plus we have Troup rotating in.  Or we get a LB, Moats has come around but its still early, Poz is great but to slow to cover sideline to sideline.  I like Cam Newton and believe if Buffalo has a shot at him we will take him, he is a big guy with a huge arm and can scramble if need be.

Round 2) OL or DT

Our O-line has performed better however not the best.  The interior line looks good however, they could be a big physical guy on the RT or LT.  Go after a linemen here and add the size and physical standard Gailey wants.

Round 3) TE

The WR corp has performed better than most expected.  But where are the TEs, as a Bills fan I have seen teams kill us with TEs I believe its time we go after a solid route running TE.

Round 4) LB

We always can use the depth of the another LB, maybe one who has speed and can cover TEs.

Round 5) DE, OL, or DB

Time to build depth throughout the rest of the rounds

Round 5) (Lynch Trade if I am correct) TE, DB, WR

Round 6) DL, OL

Round 7) WR, RB

Overall:  Buffalo needs to build up on the O-Line and Defensive 7.  Adding a TE that can be a factor in the receiving game would be a great addition.

Buffalo Rumblings Things need to change

How long do the fans have to watch the same Bills team every year?  Its been ten years of different QBs, different coaches, and in the end its the exact same every year.  Gailey better get on his high horse and change somethings quick.

1) We drafted a running back with the ninth pick in the draft, can we please use him on offense and not just on special teams.  He needs to be starter, take lynch out and trade him.  Spiller and Jackson should be the two backs.  I know Jackson is getting older but he has the skills and lynch doesnt want to be in Buffalo anymore we all know this.

2) Where are our blitz packages.  I have not seen one game were we get in the QBs face at least 5 times.  Edwards needs to come up with blitz packages.  It looks like our LBs are just sitting there waiting for the RB to get to them, and then they miss tackles anyway.  We have 1 turnover all year with no ints, why do you think that is Gailey maybe because the QB has all the time in the world.

3) This draft coming up we need to go big.  If Luck comes out we best get him, and after that we need to draft up in the draft and go get some players.  O-line, WRs, OLB, DE.  We need playmakers, ESPN had a great write up on how our last seven draft picks didnt do anything vs the Jets.

4) Free agency, yes I know Gailey and Nix believe drafting is the way to go and I agree, but we still could use some good veterens.  Go after players that will make a difference.  If you dont believe me on this one lets look at the Jets there team built through free agency and its paying off.  If we cant do it through FA trade some players and get some better ones.

Honestly, I have been a bills fan for 21 years of my life and I cant take it anymore.  I was to young to get the full value of the early 90's, 1999 was the last time I saw a Buffalo Team who wanted to play, since than its been pee-wee football and its a joke anymore.  I will always stick by my team but Gailey its time for change.  I know this season it wont happen but come on I have even seen an improve in 10 years not once.  Last thing, next week I would love to see Edwards come in for the Jags and we make him look even worse than he is, maybe we could get our first pick of the season that would be ironic.

Buffalo Rumblings Questions for the Year Ahead

Throughout the first Preseason game I found myself asking a lot of questions about the Bills.  The biggest question I asked is after 10 years of no playoffs how can this team still look as bad as they do?  Yes, I am a die hard fan there is no doubt about but is anyone else asking that question?  I mean we have had 10 years of drafts and free agency and not once have we put together a playoff team in that time.  The other questions that I thought of were...

1) Who is going to be the pass rusher this year?

I would love to say Aaron Maybin, I had high hopes for him.  I know he is young and when you watch him on the field you see that the man is a never ending motor.  He was consistently all over but just a bit late.  He has great speed but I believe he relies on it to much.  So who is the next great pass rusher this year?

2) Will we have a unknown WR step up this year?

Buffalo has tons of young WRs on this team.  Steve Johnson is by far my favorite to step up.  This kid has good hands and I think can be a great number 2 within a few years.  I would have loved to see Easley this year and we will still get a chance I hope.  Nelson looked good in the first opener and he could be the stand out this year.

3) How did we become so deep at RB?

We have 3 starting RBs and in todays game you need at least 2 RBs so its great we have more options.  However, Bell and Simpson really showed some great skills last Thursday.  I knwo it was not vs. the first team however they still showed up how badly they want to make the team.  Can we use this to our advantage in someway?

4) What happened after that first drive?

The first drive was full of quick passes, and a great running game.  Trent looked great and our RBs looked like they were primed and ready to go.  After that first drive Edwards lost it, and our running game continued however we cant just rely on the run.  If we are going to be a team that goes 3 and out almost every time its going to be a long season.  Gailey needs to look at that first drive and should run that type of offense a good amount of the game.  The quick passes, throw some screens in there, hit WRs, TEs, RBs, and FBs in the flats, run the ball, play action.  Get rid of the ball and let the receiver make the plays.  We arent a team that has time to wait in the pocket.

5) What is your Prediction for the Indy game?

I am hoping our secondary looks better this game.  I dont think they looked great the first preseason game and got picked apart a lot.  Yes I know we were going up vs. McNabb which is a good QB however Rex Grossman looked like a god vs us.  Manning will eat us up.  We need to find out how to put pressure on him and if our secondary looks good this game I will have more hope.  Manning is good and if they look good vs him I will be happy because lets face it Sanchez and Henne will be picked apart than by our secondary.  Our Offense needs to get into a rhythm and hopefully can produce some points this game.  My predict 24-21 Buffalo.  Maybin gets a sack on the first team, Spiller gets a TD, Trent looks better, Steve Johnson is the WR of the game, and our secondary gets a pick from the 2nd team.  Not saying it will be a pretty win but I think gailey will come ready for this game.

Buffalo Rumblings Secondary

I will keep this pretty short.  Last night I saw Buffalo's secondary get picked apart by a team that doesn't have that many good WRs.  If that was the Pats wow we would have been destoryed worse.  What happened to them they left guys get behind them and didnt look sharp at all.  Can anyone answer why our secondary looked flat?  I hope this changes before the season or we might have a long year

Buffalo Rumblings The Curse?

So today I got my tickets to the Season Opener Miami vs. Buffalo.  So when i got off work today i did some work and then started looking around youtube for Bills related clips since i cant wait for the season.  I started my journey with the Bills 1998 game with Flutie making an amazing pass to Moulds for a game winning touchdown, Fluties first win in Buffalo.  I watched a few more games like the 93 Miami game and the 2000 Wildcard game vs. the Titans (still a forward pass).  But after that I came along a clip I have never seen Nick Bakay and the talk about the Flutie Curse, and I thought what the hell is this.

In all my time being a Bills fan never have a heard of the Curse.  We have heard of many other curses in sports but could it be the Bills have a curse?  After viewing this video that had amazing facts to it I thought could it be?  And to add to this video the 98 game vs. Jacksonville Jauron was the D-coordinator when Flutie got his first start in Buffalo.  So take a look at this video and lets all hope its not true but if it is how do we get rid of it?

Buffalo Rumblings Why are you a Bills Fan?

To a true fan the NFL season is year round day in and day out; you just can’t get enough football.  However, about this time every year I get together with some friends enjoy some ice cold beer, and talk about the the season ahead.  As I sit with friend that are fans of the Ravens, Oakland, Dallas, Eagles, and a few others, there seems to be a topic that always comes up…Why are you still a Bills Fan?

Yes, its hard to believe someone would ask that question.  I mean I could always fire back at my one buddy and ask why he is an Oakland Fan, but the answer is always we have won a Superbowl.  So then I ask another buddy why are you a Eagles Fan, they never won a Superbowl?  And the answer that always comes back is at least they are contenders every year.  So the question still stands why am I a Bills Fan?

Just being born around the time Buffalolost all four Superbowls wasn’t as bad for me as it was for some fans.  I mean don’t get me wrong it still hurts but I don’t remember the games except for the 1992 Superbowl vs the Redskins but still I was to young to feel the pain Bills Fans felt across the US.

However I have seen many horrible moments in Buffalo football.  I have seen QBs like Rob Johnson, and JP Losman and that horrible fumble in the 4th quarter vs. the Jets a few years back.  I have seen the Bills come seconds away from winning a Wildcard game vs. the Titans just to let a lose it all on a backwards (or so called) pass.  I have seen the Bills lose to the Patriots so much over the past 10 years I don’t know what beating them feels like.  I have seen Buffalo go from head coach to head coach since the Marv Levy Era.  And how could I forget missing the playoffs for a decade.  And after seeing all that it all comes back to Why am I a Bills Fan after all that?

After all that I am sure many of us get asked Why are you still a Bills Fan?  And my answer I am a Bills Fan because each year in September I can count on the Bills to be at Ralph Wilson.  Playing there hearts out for one goal, to win a Championship.  I don’t care about all the critics who doubt, or any other football fans that enjoy when the Bills lose.  I am a Bills Fan because I love the cold, windy Sundays screaming my head off for Buffalo, next to hundreds and thousands of other crazy fans.  I am a Bills Fan because no other team in the NFL can give the satisfaction of the Buffalo Bills.  And after all no one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills.

So after all is said and done the one question remains…Why aren’t they Bills Fans?

Buffalo Rumblings Beating the AFC East (Jets)

The Bills have had little problem breaking even with the Jets the past few years.  However many predict that to change soon.  This offseason the jets signed several big names to make this team a superbowl contender (or what they think).  Its easy to hate the J-E-T-S when there head coach is loud mouth Rex Ryan, and a QB who is names Sanchez.  With the additions of L.T., Taylor, and Cromartie, this team looks to just add more power.

However, with these additions I know Buffalo can beat the jets not once but twice.  Losing Jones I believe was a big lost.  L.T. is at the end of his days, and lets face it we have to be happy Jones is gone because that guy killed us last year.  Sanchez was protected by the run game so much that his interception numbers this year wont be any better than last year (thats right Rex you protected him to much, he will have another 4 or 5 pick game vs. Buffalo).  So whats the keys to beating the jets:

1) Beating there D

Everyone knows the D on this team is filled with studs.  The first guy everyone thinks of is Revis, and with the addition of Cromartie this team will be hard to pass on.  They have a tough set of linebackers and a big DT.  However whats one thing Buffalo's offense doesnt lack....Speed!  We have Evans, Parrish, and Spiller are the speedsters of the Offense.  So what do I believe we should do, make all three a WR during the game (not all game).  But how to defend against that much speed and having a RB in the backfield that can bust a move.  We have to make sure that the jets D doesn't get in our heads with all the names and style of play.  We have plenty of play makers to make up with them.

2) Special Teams

I know some may not agree with this one, but lets face it our special teams are good.  If Moorman can make great punts (lets hope Buffalo doesnt need to), Lindell can make FG, and our return game can make big plays we can get great field position and capitalize on their bad position.  The jets don't really have a passing game if you ask me, Sanchez isn't that great.  So if Buffalo can make there special teams great for 2 games (hopefully more but I want to be the Jets twice so bad this year cause I hate REX RYAN and SANCHEZ) then I believe we have a great shot at beating the so called Superbowl team everyone thinks they are.

3) Stopping the Run

This is the biggest of all.  If you stop the run that forces them to pass, and we all love to see Byrd and the rest of the Flock pick Sanchez.  We need to stuff the holes and not allow Greene to get into space.  L.T. is not a huge threat anymore but he is still good enough to make a big run, so we cant doubt him.  Hit him hard and hit him a lot, the guy is older and is injury prone.  If we stop the run game they are forced to do go to the air.

If Buffalo can do all these things I think we beat the Jets twice, and that would be huge.  No more Rex talk and god I would love to just one of our WR to make Revis look bad (I know he is great but it would be sweet).  Who better to do that than Easley the Rook....that would just be classic.  LETS GO BUFFALO

Buffalo Rumblings Dark Horse Stand Out

Buffalo has many talented players and many of those players perform year and year out for Buffalo.  However has anyone sat back and thought about who could have the break out season that fans love to see.  Last year it had to be Byrd, no one would have thought of the Byrd Man to destroy QB's.

This year there are a whole new group of rookies, and a few additions from FA.  I got thinking today who is going to be this years Dark Horse Stand Out.  With all this thought came many players who I believe could be that player to make the fans sit back and say thank god we have him.

I thought about Spiller the Thriller, this kid has pure speed and seems to be a great addition to our offense.  He has his mind set on football and is going to be more than a RB for Buffalo I am sure.  Johnson the Rap star, thats right this kid also raps in his free time.  He has great potential and entering his third season seems to be having a good shot at the #2 WR.  Or Maybin the first rounder that didn't produce a sack last year.  The move to outside linebacker he could finally have his shot to shine (and I am really hoping he does something this year).  Or is there a someone else?

So my fellow Bills Fans how is your pick for the Dark Horse Stand Out?

Buffalo Rumblings Trade Thoughts

Buffalo has been involved in many trade talks this year, or at least sources say.  McNabb was the biggest one and it was said Buffalo went after him with a passion.  It would have been a huge pick up but it didn't happen.  Other talks have been about getting an LT from the Chargers, or Baltimore.  Neither one of those looks like it is going to happen.  So what happens now?

Recent talk about Vincent Jackson being on the move to another team has got me thinking.  Yes I know Buffalo has several young receivers that bring great hopes.  However, Parrish has never been a guy who can run routes, had isnt great unless he has space.  Hardy is injury prone and I mean injury prone.  Easley and Johnson are my two favorites when thinking about the number 2 Wideout.  Johnson and Easley both seem to work hard and are speedsters who are physical.

After thinking about what Buffalo has on this team, would it be smart to trade for Jackson?  My thoughts are every critic talks about how Buffalo has no offense besides the backfield.  They say we dont have any other wideout other than Evans.  They say we dont have a LT, and last but not least the talk of a QB.  So getting Jackson would it be a bad thing?

No, I believe Jackson would give us that other threat.  Lets face it this would not be a T.O. project, Jackson is in his prime and brings that red zone threat.  Buffalo would have a great backfield, and wideout group if we did bring him in.  It would only help out QB's because you have big target to throw it up to and we all know he can go get it.  And with all the talk about Buffalo having one of the top draft picks next year why not give a 2nd in 2011 and a 2nd in 2012.  We would still have our first to go get a QB or LT.

Buffalo Rumblings Beating the AFC East (Dolphins)

The Bills have had an easier time beating the Dolphins  than the Patriots, however Buffalo can do better than beating them once a season.  The Dolphins have lost two players that really helps the Bills.  Joey Porter the wild man he is and Jason Taylor.  Both of these guys always gave Buffalo a hard time.

Buffalo has a great shot to beat the Dolphins twice this season.  The season opener is in Buffalo and lets face it every Bills Backer will be there if possible.  So why not start the season off on a great foot step.  If Buffalo wants to beat the fish here are the keys.

1) Stopping the Run

Everyone knows Buffalo had a hard time doing this last year vs. every team.  However, its important we do it vs. the Dolphins.  This team has two backs I hate going against...Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.  Every year I feel like Williams does amazing vs. Buffalo.  Last year in the first meeting the Dolphins had 45 rushes for 250 yards, and in second meeting Williams had 115 yards by himself.  If Buffalo wants to win we have to stuff the run.  We need to shut down the Wildcat and destroy Williams before he hits open field.

2) The Passing Attack

The Dolphins aren't known for the best secondary.  The secondary was weak last year and in the second meeting Fitz took advantage of that.  The Dolphins didn't really improve the secondary and I believe this is still a key to destroy this team.  We need to go four or five wide and spread that D out.  If the line gives the QB just a good amount of time, we have the threats like Evans, Johnson, Parrish, and even Spiller.  This secondary can't handle that much speed.

3) Stopping the Pass

The Dolphins never really had a threat at Wide-out but this off season the fish brought in Marshall.  Marshall is good, I won't speak bad on him but we have the secondary to shut him down.  Since they don't have much else to offer.  We need to force double coverage on him, make him make the plays.  Our secondary can pick off Henne just like last year.  He is not a great quarterback all he had is a big arm.  If Buffalo stops the pass to Marshall, Henne will throw the picks.

If Buffalo can do these key things they will beat the Dolphins twice this year.  Both wins would be huge victories for Buffalo.  Lets face it beating any team twice from the AFC East is a great season.  Also I have this video from youtube when Henne was in college.  At Ohio State they played this every time they faced Henne's Wolverines.  Many will enjoy this. Buffalo Rumblings Beating the AFC East (Patriots)

Beating the AFC East (Patriots)

I would like to do a little segment on the AFC East and how each team can be beat.  Now I know this is my opinion on how to bet them.  So I want some fed back, and some ideas.

The Patriots have been a complete mystery to Buffalo in the past few years.  This past season opener seemed like a day of glory as I watched Buffalo pick the Patriots apart, just to be defeated at the end once more.  Buffalo has had hard time with their neighbors of the North.  However, lets face it this team has been beaten by others so why can't Buffalo destroy the Patriots?  Well this season that drought is about to end!

Buffalo fired their offensive cooridnator right before the Patriots game this past season, and many had scary thoughts as the season opener approached.  However, one man stepped up Alex Van Pelt (aka Dough Boy).  Van Pelt, in my mind did several things right that night.  Going along with Alex and my own opinion here is the solution to defeat the New England Patriots.

1) The Rush (and the T.O.P)-

Anybody who is a football fan knows how important this is.  However, this becomes extremely important when facing Tom Brady and that pass happy offense.  In the first meeting the Pats killed us in T.O.P. however the second meeting Buffalo had the ball for 7 more mins. then the Pats.  Both games were very close this season and both times the T.O.P varied.  In the second meeting the Bills had 23 rushing attempts between Jackson and Lynch in the first meeting it was 17 attempts with Jackson and Edwards.  The key is that Buffalo needs to put the ball on the ground the most they can.  As long as we can pick up yards on the ground the clock is ticking and Brady and Moss and Welker aren't putting up numbers.  With Gailey being a running guy this could really help the Bills out.

2) The Screen-

We can't run the whole game so lets go to something else that seems to work against them.  Fred Jackson was the leading receiver in Game 1 of the season.  He had 5 rec. for 83 yds. and 1 TD.  Van Pelt came in with a great game plan that worked perfect.  Our line is very young and is able to move quickly, and all the RB's on our team can catch very well.  So when Van Pelt put this in during the first game it destroyed the Pats.  They couldn't stop it, our line got to the point of attack and Jackson did the rest.  This game plan worked very well against the Pats and I believe it will work again.  With the addition of Spiller that makes it even more dangerous.

3) The Secondary-

The Patriots have never been much for rushing the ball.  So what else is there to do pass the ball.  Brady and Moss are a threat to any team and then you add in Welker and now we know why they don't run.  But we are the Buffalo Bills right?  The only strength that I ever hear when critics talk about Buffalo is the secondary.  So why can't we stop that passing attack.  Moss seems to get the best of McGee time in and time out and Welker is slot receiver who can't be stopped on 3rd down.  Well it is time we do something about that.  With the switch to the 3-4 D there will be a lot more man coverage and less zone.  This can really help us out when it comes to stopping the attack.  We have all the threats in the secondary that a team needs.  Man coverage I believe is the best for us.  Taking away those quick passes that zone coverage can't stop.  If the secondary steps up, the Pats fall and I mean fall hard.  They don't have a great running game.

When Buffalo runs the ball, uses the screen and has a secondary that steps up.  The Patriots will fall, I will bet money on this one.  Our running game has all the right components to be great this year and the secondary we already know is great.  Using the screen with Jackson, Spiller, and even Lynch will destroy the Pats.  And who knows maybe we get tricky and go for it on 4th down.....haha

Buffalo Rumblings Buffalos O-Line

This is the saddest part of Buffalo I think.  Dont get me wrong the young Guards are awesome.  I even wanted to get Wood's jersey (No one ever gets Lineman jerseys thought it would be great).  If Buffalo wants to do something about this problem its starts with the center.  I would really like to see Wood at Center so Buffalo we need another good RG.  If this happens Buffalos inside would be strong.....yes STRONG.

The LT and RT are the biggest problems.  Lets face it we need a franchise LT enough said.  That blindside is hurting bad.  No QB wants to drop back and get crushed in two seconds cause the LT can't pass block.  So Chix get on it.  We need a LT even if its for two years we need one for the time being.  RT is harsh to talk about we brought in Green the guy is experiences but he gets the yellow flag thrown on him more than any other guy in the league.  I like Wang at RT in two or three years but it takes time.  So Green will have to do right now.

O-Line is where it is at love to see great guards and Buffalo sure has that.  Top three guards in the game are Jahri Evans (because the man came from Bloomsburg University which is D2 and small at that.  My cousin played right beside him and I got to meet him when I was in High school the guy is great).  Wood and Levitre come on I have to show the most talented linemen on the team the love.

Chix build that o-line and we have a shot to go far, all we have to do is run the ball I mean we have three backs.  (just kidding but we could give it a shot, our QB out of wildcat would be Jackson).

Buffalo Rumblings AFC East Dispute

One thing that is really nice to see is the AFC East dispute with some highly rated players.  The Jets have many front office problems with Revis, and Mangold.  The Pats have a huge problem with Mankins request for a trade.  The Dolphins have been quite in this part of the ball game but 2 out of 3 aint bad.

I know buffalo have had there disputes with Lynch which still continue but whatever happens we have already replaced him (if they do trade him).  So is it really a huge dispute not really.  Schobel is not really a dispute at all its both sides really saying ok we will just let it play out.  No one is really fighting have him come back (which is sad) but he did his time and helped us out well.

The Jets are said to be power houses of the East however with these two big names wanting new contracts could hurt them.  Revis and Mangold could easily put a damper on this team for a month or so.  That would be great, with all the press and things.  It is hard to focus on football with all the distractions.

Pats the dynasty is looking wounded.  If Mankins gets his wish the Pats have a huge hole to fill at guard.  It would be great to see because we all know that line becomes weaker and Hopefully a ILB or DT can get the sack or stop the run very easy.

Buffalo Rumblings Madden 11 Top 3 Pass Defenses

Here are the top 3 pass defenses in Madden 11

1. New York Jets – This is the obvious choice here, with everyone returning from last years number 1 rated team, why would they start to drop off? The Jets gave up a measly 153.7 passing yards per game last year. Expect that number to go down even farther because of their trade for Antonio Cromartie, who is just another shutdown corner playing with the best corner in the game, Darrelle Revis. Another reason is their RFA pick up of Jason Taylor, who can contribute with his explosive pass rush on third downs, creating even less time for the opposing QBs to throw the ball and pick up big chunks of yardage. Darrelle Revis had his breakout year last season and has the confidence plus the skills to shut down any wide receiver in the game of football. Along with the pick up of Kyle Wilson, who could move to the safety position and play beside Jim Leonhard. The Jets secondary is the best in the game with young talent, and they can only get even better this year.

2. Buffalo Bills – The Bills are also loaded with young talent. The most explosive player on this team last year was Jairus Byrd, he exploded right out of college and was tied for the league lead in interceptions. Along with veteran corners such as Terrence McGee and Drayton Florence, the Bills also have Leodis McKelvin, who is an explosive young corner. Opposite of Jairus Byrd, the Bills have Donte Whitner, who is a wiley veteran and is one of the hardest hitters in the league. Along with this fantastic secondary, the Bills have Paul Posluszny, who is a fantastic young linebacker that plays well in coverage. The Bills are built to play the pass very well, and their run support should improve in 2010, helping the pass defense even more.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers – No one can deny the greatness of the Steelers’ defense when Troy Polamalu is healthy. He is simply the single most influential defensive player in the NFL, and can alter a game with one ridiculous play. Combine Troy Polamalu with gritty veterans Ike Taylor, Bryant McFadden, and William Gay, the Steelers secondary becomes nearly unbeatable. Another very important aspect of Pittsburgh’s defense is Ryan Clark, who can hit so hard that he injures even the toughest guys in the league (*cough* Willis McGahee *cough*). However, the main reason that I believe their pass defense will be so good is the pressure that James Harrison and company (Woodley and Timmons) will get on the QB. The QB will be so worried about getting knocked upside his head that he will rush throws that will lead to turnovers.

Thoughts?

Buffalo Rumblings Hope is still alive in Western New York

Every year at the end of the season every fan from any team hopes for the next year to bring better times (except if your team won the Superbowl and then you hope for a repeat). Every bills fan has felt the dissappointment and hard times season in and season out.  It has been a long drought for fans, no playoffs, haven't beaten the Pats in many meetings, and a conference that seems to get stronger every year.

After reading many offseason reviews and polls it looks like it is going to be another one of those years.  Yes, that mean 11 seasons of no playoffs.  It is tough to think that a team you devote every Sunday can't give you one playoff season.  However, I still billieve that there is hope dispite all the reviews.  Here are somethings that make me still BILLIEVE

Season Ends:

The season ended and Buffalo decided to revamp everything.  Nix got hired as the new GM, a guy that has a lot of experience of bringing in talent (lets hope) and decided to bring in Gailey.  Everybody had hopes of Buffalo landing a great head coach however we landed Gailey.  Gailey  coming from college scared me at first but after his few moves he has done I am warming up to the idea.  Gailey brings in George Edwards a linebacker coach who knows the 3-4 (Great pick up he knows the Fins and can help out with the switch to the 3-4).  Gailey decided to switch to free weights, and remove all the TV's in the weight room.  I believe this was a great move free weights will hopefully help up with the injury problem we have been having.  Next, Nix and him both won't let Lynch out easy.  Also, the players seem to like Gailey and hopefully that carries over for a few seasons.

Free Agents:

There was some big free agents out there this year.  But with the addition of Edwards and Davis I would like to say great pick ups.  Our D improved big in the run game with these two additions.  Edwards and Davis know the 3-4 which helps even more.  Edwards comes from a D that i really like the Ravens that team has some attitude and it is time Buffalo starts getting a little more of that.  Davis is a ILB that will help Poz and the other linebackers with a transition that can be tough.

Draft:

The pick of C.J. Spiller I think was a great choice.  Sure an LT would have been better but NIx knows talent and brings talent in.  Spiller can be many things kick returner, punt returner, slot receiver, and rb.  Come on that's a lot of one guy, and him and jackson I think are a great duo.  Troup could have waited till 3rd round but still DT was a big position we needed, so I stand by it.  Carrington was a great pick I think he will be a big force in a year or two.  Throughout the draft we focused on the 3-4 D and I think that was the best idea.  Build a D that is stronger because lets face it our D was the strongest point of the team.

Competition & OTA's:

Gailey and Nix both like the idea of competition and why not, it makes players better.  There are few areas of this team that people need to watch with this competition QB, WR.  These to positions have many guys trying to fight for a position that is going to be tough.  OTA's are tough for fans you like to see plays but you don't like to see the WR break one deep or a QB throw a pick.  But from what I saw the guys are really looking ok in a new system on both sides of the ball.  I really haven't seen good angles or all the bad clips but from what I saw I think there are still good times ahead.

Overall:

Buffalo seems to facing an uphill battle that many critics don't like however no one ever likes change.  The critics don't play on sundays or practice all week.  From my eyes I see a lot of good times ahead this year.  This is a team that could upset a few teams and who knows make a playoff berth.  It's hard to envision being so long since we have seen it.  But until I see this team roll over and give up I still have the hope and the fire to want to watch Bills football every sunday.  So when it is all said and done don't listen to the critics, don't listen to other fans.  Hope is still alive in Buffalo, NY.  One last note Buffalo is the only true NY team lets face it the other two teams play in NJ haha.

Buffalo Rumblings A Trio (The Stampede) that can't be beaten

Many people think that with the draft of Spiller came the trade for Lynch.  FINALLY! We can get rid of him.  But after reading many posts, articles, and after much thought is it bad to have a Trio that can't be beat.  Yes, I said can't be beat.  The idea and thought of having all three of these players on the field at one time blows my mind.

Spiller his production in college was amazing.  He has break away speed, can hit the holes (hopefully produced by a O-line) very fast, and he is versatile.  This man can bring a lot to the Bills.  I know we didnt need another running back but hey finally we have a speed back.

Jackson everyones favorite man.  This guy worked his way to the NFL like very few players ever have.  Jackson could be put at any position well just WR, and RB (but i feel like he could play any position).  Yes Jackson can catch out of the backfield so well.  Love when buffalo ran short screens to him last year (O wait it was only in Game 1 vs. the Pats, why did we ever go away from that cause it did work).  Anyway he will have another great year

Lynch, yes he has many problems in the past.  No doubt he did not produced last year.   However would having him be that bad of a deal.  He does bring beast mode and with all the bad talk about him maybe just maybe he can light that fire we saw his rookie year.

Now what do you get when you put this all together.  Some formations we can run is Jackson and Lynch in the backfield and Spiller at Slot.  Or Spiller and Jackson at Slot.  Or Beast mode with any of the other two at WR.  When sundays come there is going to be ONE TRIO making a highlight reel and thats Buffalo's Stampede.  Without having a decent set of proven WR's besides Evans.  This trio will be our bread and butter, hopefully they can be the work horses game in and out.
