Ben Gordon game winners, windmill and 360 slam. In case anyone forgot about Ben Gordon and the type of player he is. Watching this video also makes me think maybe BG's ankle was hurt more than he let on.
NBA 2 Guards and thier market values
All this talk about overpaying Gordon got me interested in market value. Wen i came across this
Market value is often used interchangeably with open market value, fair value or fair market value, although these terms have distinct definitions in different standards, and may differ in some circumstances.
Reports are that he is asking for the moon LINK but when I compiled these numbers 11 or 12 milion doesn't seem unreasonable.
Considering that the Avg. Salary for starting two guards in the NBA is 10,129,916 what is Ben Gordon worth?
*Some Teams had multiple players capable of starting on that team i.e. Utah, Indy, Toronto, and OKC went with the best player.
*Also remember that Roy and Durant are still on rookie deals.

top draft picks and their extensions historically
There has been a lot of talk around the league about how much players are worth after there rookie contracts expire. What are you paying for production or potential? Before 1995 you could sign rookies to whatever type of contract you wanted. (length and value)
The rookie salary scale was implemented prior to the 1995 draft by the NBA and the National Basketball Player's Association, a year after overall No. 1 pick Glenn Robinson signed a 10-year, $68 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks out of college. CBA rules now force first-round picks to play at a predetermined pay structure for at least three years before becoming a free agent.
What some draft picks might make under the old system
NBA players generally want no less than the guys drafted after them. Gordon was drafted # 3 and Deng # 7 overall so I compiled a list of players drafted around those slots between 1999-2004 to what other players picked in the top 9 signed for. Because so many players were either Maxed out or given just below MAX iwhile GM's were still adjusting to the new rules (1996-1998) I left them out. Think Marbury, Allen, Bibby, Jamison, Hughes (ugh), Van Horn, Ron Mercer.
Included all the Bulls picks except Jwill and Brand. I also included Al Jefferson # 15 and Josh Smith #16 in 2004. Also excluded players who were huge busts and never signed extensions i.e. Dajuan Wagner, Nikoloz Tskitishvili .
The players are listed by their draft day position, height, weight, position, team that signed them (signed not drafted), years, value, best statistical season before extension.

What about McGrady?
Why hasn't there been any talk of acquiring Tracy Mcgrady? Has injury history but a definitive upgrade in the backcourt. Gives us another option at the end of games Youtube video and with the Bulls he wouldn't have to play 35 mpg. He comes off the books the same year as Hughes.
Scenario 1 Draft Rose Then Trade Hinrich + Hughes + future # 1 for Mcgrady and filler (Think Aaron Brooks) Link .
Lineup
PG Rose/Thabo
SG Mcgrady/Gordon
SF Deng/Thomas
PF Gooden/Thomas
C Noah/Gooden
Scenario # 2 Draft Beasley Then trade Hughes +TT + cash considerations/future # 1 works for McGrady Link
Lineup
PG Hinrich/Gordon
SG Mcgrady/Thabo
SF Deng/NOCE
PF Beasley/Gooden
C Noah/Gooden
Would you be for trading for McGrady and who would you draft to play wih him?

Real Problem with Bulls
WIth everyone up in arms about the Noah draft pick, nocioni resigning, and Joe smith getting the midlevel it got me thinking What about the backcourt. People talk about the height of our backcourt but Tony Parker, TJ FORD, Steve Nash, Mo Willaims, Mike Conley, Marbury etc. are 6 feet at best. Isn't the real problem that we have two combo guards Ben and Kirk. All this talk about Kirk being a top ten Pg. He is not a PG. Neither is a pure point and neither is adequate at the two. My question is can Kirk become an allstar level guard and/ or Can Ben Gordon develop into an effective lead guard this year?
