FIBA baseline to backboard is 1.2m, or 3'11 1/4". So that part is the same. Still looking for FIBA stanchion to baseline spec.

Haven't found a FIBA diagram yet. But if USA Basketball was using non-standard, unsafe court, wow! Of course, NBA summer league

It appears from one source that the NBA standard is about 4', and it was apparently 2'2" according to the reporter.

Apparently the base of the hoop stand was much closer to the end line than normal NBA standards. ESPN reporter saying it was only 2'2".

Interesting. Seems like we hear less about teammate friendships these days. Less Bill and Luke, Clyde and Kiki, Geoff and Sidney ....

LA is our MVP (for now), but Dame is the external face of the franchise. The Kareem/Magic comparison is perfect.

I'd guess Tiger will catch Jack Nicholson in their common specialty, but neither will ever catch Wilt's 20,000 trophies.
Commented on Blazer's Edge Roundtable: Should Blazers Retire Brandon Roy's No. 7 Jersey? on Jul 30 2014, 9:11p - 1 reply
I wouldn't call it a lack of interest. I would say not interested at 3-years $3.1M, or perhaps not interested at 3-years at all.

Maybe we should put Clinton on the $1 Bill. Few people remember George Washington's record. It was a long time ago.

Correct. He can't be traded until Dec 15.

In 2013 the Thunder were #1 in the WC ($328K), and lost in the semifinals. Total winnings about $750K, or $50K per player
Commented on Portland Trail Blazers: Wiggins Trade, Re-Signing Lillard, and Mo Williams on Jul 29 2014, 6:54p - 1 reply
If he had picked up the option here he would made $1M less next year ($2.77M vs $3.75M). And you are laughing at that?
Commented on Portland Trail Blazers: Wiggins Trade, Re-Signing Lillard, and Mo Williams on Jul 29 2014, 6:36p
I heard they expect to move Barrea and Shved.

No reason to honor Jordan like that. Why not Wilt's #13, Russell's #6, Kareem's #33?

Not a lot of leverage without a competing offer.

Weren't we going to play the Houston Astro's a game 7 on a neutral court? Whoops I mean San Diego Rockets.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 11:33p
And that is the glimmer of hope. We don't know how much Freeland will improve again this year. So I wait for pre-season ...
Commented on Portland Trail Blazers: Trades, Free Agents, Bench, and Contracts on Jul 28 2014, 10:42p
Well you just contradicted what Stotts said. And Kaman is not Freeland, so your comparison makes no sense.

I think it would've been politically, and relationship wise, stupid to tell Steve Blake they were withholding Mo's number

Just logic to what you said. "We don't have a good chance", but others do have a good chance. Therefore,

Think about that. Spurs, OKC, and Clips have a good chance, so our chances aren't as good as any. Right?
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 9:46p - 1 reply
The Spurs seem to have lots of remarkable years. I see no reason to doubt them next year.

Yeah, what actually happened is that at 0.9 secs in game 6, the odds were we'd lose in round 1.

I'm stunned. You guys really think we have a good shot at winning the WCF and making the Finals next year?

We were one of the healthiest teams in the league and barely got out of the 1st round.

There was about a 61% chance of Dame missing that shot, even in less stressful situation. He shot 39% last year.

Don't work. S&T has to be 3 or 4 year contract.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 8:59p
How so? He got an extra $600K from Minny that we couldn't offer. Maybe that shows we had a $3.1M offer on the table
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 8:58p - 1 reply
Doesn't work anyway. S&T's have to be for 3 or 4 years, and obviously Minny doesn't want that.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 8:55p
I see it just the opposite. New FA gets to choose any unused number. It's disrespectful to ask him
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 8:42p - 1 reply
OK we disagree. But I wrote that wrong. Should have been "would sign Blake and then say you can't ..."
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 6:42p - 1 reply
Some teams have D-League farm teams for youngsters. We have an Old Folks Home in Minny.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 6:39p - 1 reply
I think CJ is a big factor in any Blake vs Mo discussion, and swings it to taking Blake. Especially when these are 2 year deals.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 6:36p - 1 reply
I can't draw that conclusion at all. Do you think they signed Blake and then said you can't have Mo's number
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 6:29p - 1 reply
We're officially in Stage 3 of Summer 2014. Passed on the draft (Stage 1). Got our FA's (Stage 2). Nothing left but trades (Stage 3).
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 6:21p - 1 reply
I think that is insignificant and has nothing to do with Mo coming back or not.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 6:06p - 2 replies
And that is the end of that .... Mo to Minny.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 28 2014, 6:04p - 1 reply
Yeah, he probably didn't have many alternatives. He signed late last year too.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 6:02p
I'd bet on that. He's not likely to get more than $3M next year no matter how well he plays this year. He's a known commodity.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 6:01p
Maybe he figured with Blake here and the Blazers wanting to develop CJ, he just wouldn't get that many minutes.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 5:59p - 2 replies
It was apparently $600K, so maybe. It's just a one year deal. Maybe he felt he would get more notice and bigger deal next time?
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 5:50p - 2 replies
He got more than we could pay. We might have offered $3.1M and he turned it down for the larger offer. We don't know.
Commented on Reports: Timberwolves Agree To Sign UFA G Mo Williams on Jul 28 2014, 5:47p - 1 reply
We couldn't pay him that much. Only $3.1M.

I don't see many minutes for Joel or TRob.

I think CJ's future is with the Blazers. Barton's future may be somewhere else.

Exactly. Some think Batum should consistently produce at a HIGHER level, so he's inconsistent achieving that HIGHER level.

Yeah, I think Mo was asking for too much, years or money, and then Nelson became available for the Room Exception.

What if we were the only team willing to pay him $3M? His minimum salary (anyone can pay) is $1.45M, the BAE is $2.1M.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 26 2014, 4:33p - 1 reply
Calm down. I was just giving an example that there could be up to 26 minutes available at backup SG if we used a 3-guard lineup
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 26 2014, 2:57a - 1 reply
That's the dilemma. I want CJ to rise as fast as possible. But getting to the WCF next year has to be the goal.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 7:43p
Wes is making $7.2M now, and I've projected $8M next summer as a UFA. That's just over 1/2 the max for him.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 7:32p
I like Blake and Kaman together, as I said above. Just don't know if it is enough to get out of the 2nd round.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 7:22p
I think that is a bonus to us for re-signing Mo. But my guess - Mo wouldn't sign without the expectation of playing backup SG.

Yeah, the CBA can make a person crazy. Just look at me ....

Fortunately a "full bench unit" will never play together. There will always be 1 starter on the floor, often 2.

I had been hoping for a Mo sign & trade for another decent backup. That's still a possibility.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 3:03p
True, I actually missed that non-guaranteed 2nd year somehow. We could just waive him then if no trade.

I don't ever want to see a BE headline that says "Blazers Acquire Ray Felton Again"
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 2:56p
There is just nowhere for Crabbe to play SG on this team behind Wes, Dame, CJ and Barton, let alone Mo.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 3:40a - 1 reply
Both actually. Above I did mean CJ take over for Mo either by the end of the year, or next year when Mo is gone.

Yep, all good points.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 3:11a
Mo can hardly get a FA deal, so I wouldn't count on trading him. That's why I'd only go for a 1 year deal.
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 2:34a - 3 replies
Actually they are signing Nelson with the Room Exception, not cap room. They could not have used the Room Exception for Marion
Commented on How About Mo Williams For One Mo Year? on Jul 25 2014, 2:31a - 1 reply
No, that ship sailed. Dallas can't re-sign Marion. They are over cap and have no exceptions.

We would be well below the tax line at $72.1M (tax line is $76.8M). I'd cut Crabbe, but Claver would be a more popular pick.
