"New Orleans star point guard Chris Paul insisted he was serious when he said there's a chance he soon could be traded."

"It's possible the NBA could end up bringing back the amnesty rule that resulted in teams saving millions of dollars in luxury tax during the summer of 2005.

When the NBA reached an agreement on its current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that summer, teams were allowed a one-time opportunity to waive one player and not have to pay any luxury tax on him. The player, though, got the full amount remaining on his contract, and that counted against the salary cap."

With Yao out and Shaq in the East the center position for the Western Conference All Star game is up for grabs. Outside of Boozer staying in the West who else is there? Will the NBA place Duncan or Gasol as a center in the voting? is this the year for Bynum, Nene or Jefferson to take the spot light? or is it time for Oden to start his streak of All Star appearances? With the lack of centers in the West this is a great time for Portland's centers to make some noise. Discuss :)

Z-Bo Traded to the Griz

"as good as the Clippers could have hoped for. It's being reported as Zach Randolph for Quentin Richardson, straight up. Of course Richardson doesn't make nearly as much as Randolph, but the Grizzlies are under the salary cap, so they are allowed to take on the extra salary. Because Zach had two seasons at $16M and $17.3M left on his deal compared to Richardson's $8.7M this season, the Clippers will save about $24.6M overall because of this trade. More importantly, they'll clear cap space for the 2010 off season when some huge names are going to become free agents."

I don't know why the Griz would do this especially now, with so many PF FA available for a much cheaper price but good for the clips I suppose

"They should seek an elite scorer at small forward or an elite point guard. I have no doubt they will offer anything and everything not named Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge or Greg Oden to New Orleans to see if they can pry away Paul. I doubt it will succeed, but in this summer of contraction, the Blazers shouldn't be shy about trying to rob any team in financial trouble."

I bought a new iPod last week and I have an application that allows me to listen to the radio. Unfortunately I don’t get either of the Portland sports stations on it. However I do get Houston 610 Sports Radio. So I thought I would give it a listen, and I could not believe what I heard. Honestly they when I listened they didn’t do much talking about the Blazers other than today talking about how they can’t over look Portland and that the fans need to stop talking about what they are going to do against the L*kers and what they’ll do about the center position this off season after they lose to LA (their words not mine).

Before last game a caller called in named TexasMike (sounded like he’s a frequent caller) to give advice to the incoming Houston Texan rookies. During which TexasMike said that Houston sports fans are not intelligent sports fans and that Houston woman are ugly. Then the Radio hosts called TexasMike gay and spent the next 10 minutes gay bashing.

Today about an hour ago I was listening to the same station and I heard a commercial advertising a show about a guy named Andre and someone else. The commercial consisted of the two guys talking about Jeff Garcia but giving Garcia a feminine voice and giving him an over exaggerated stereotypical gay dialect. Then talking sarcastically that if he came to Houston to play they would have him on every day making it sound like it would be funny.

I never thought that Texas was actually the way that they are depicted in the sense that they are openly ignorant towards LBGTQ lifestyles.

Its one thing for the citizens of an area to be this way but to be openly broadcasting it for everyone to hear is disgraceful.

Say what you want about some of our Portland radio guys but every single one of them has more class than that whole station.

Last night on Trail Blazers Courtside a caller called in saying that the NBA has the rankings wrong. The caller said that in a three way tie for playoff seating’s it goes to an overall record between the two teams. The blazers have the better combined record between the Spurs and Denver so they should have the 2nd spot in the rankings. I can't seem to find the rule he found, but he said it was on NBA.com. I think this needs more investigation so caller of Courtside if you are out there please post all of your info so we can get our crack Blazers Edge investigating crew on the conspiracy.

Drexler and Porter Jerseys in this video. The Porter is Tajuan though. This video has nothing to do with the Blazers and is kind of offensive because it's about abortion, but the lyrics are funny and I can't stop listening to it (don't know what that says about me) either way here it is.

I haven’t been able to find this anywhere on the net, but according to 1080 the Fan (I know take it for what it's worth)
In the Ruffin/Diogu trade the Blazers also receive a $3.13 million trade exception. I believe this is the way we got James Jones from the Suns, and Rop said it’s the way we got Rudy's pick.

Meaning we can take a player for 3.13 million off another team and/or get a first round draft pick for doing so.
