Information regarding the CBA & salary cap. Links to useful sites and articles.

For those of you interested in doing some reading regarding the CBA and NBA Salary Cap issues, below are links to some websites I've been using as a reference.

1. NBA Salary Cap FAQ: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm
Probably the best site on the internet to explain the CBA in common terms. Of special interest are the areas on waivers, contract guarantees, and contract buyouts with regard to the Steve Francis situation.

Actual NBA CBA from the website of the NBA Players Association: http://www.nbpa.com/cba_articles.php

Just of further interest, a recent article by Henry over at Truehoop & ESPN on the intricacies of the CBA and some information regarding the draft etc. Check it out. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-26-1/Who-Knows-the-Collective-Bargaining-Agreement-.html

SI.com reporting proposed PDX-NYC trade

Sports Illustrated is reporting on a proposed trade that would send Zach Randolph to New York for Channing Frye and Steve Francis.

According to SI:

Less than four hours before the draft, I heard that the Knicks were looking to acquire Randolph from Portland. It was uncertain what New York would be sending to the Blazers; my source believed it might be Channing Frye and Steve Francis, which would force Portland to include another player in the trade. What I can tell you is that Randolph was initially reticent about going to New York. Stay tuned.

<endquote>

I don't know about this trade. Anything I did with NYC would have to include David Lee, and get rid of another of our bad contracts (Darius Miles? or Raef Lafrentz) for us to do it. New York has a TON of bad contracts, and not a whole lot of talent.
