8/14 JD - Twitterville edition

I fought it for the longest time. For some reason it just didn't sound right to me, people putting up little tidbits of what their doing at all times like a bunch of narcissistic nerds. Who really cares right?? well here i am and i have a weird fascination with it and now its my most useful tool to collect all my sports information at the speed of TWITTER! So here we go, feel free to share your social networking information with the BE army if you feel like it.

Will LMA demand a max deal??

This all got started when i was listening to the MSP this morning. Everyone is expecting LMA to sign an exstension this summer and keep this happy little nucleus together but what if he demands max money? I know the Blazers are not going to max him out but if he were on another team and was the #1 option and didn't have 2 vacuum cleaners for centers he would probably be a 20/10 guy. At his age with his athleticism, speed, and length he would have a real good shot at a max contract. But it does not work to max him out on this team, and outside of him we don't have a legit option at PF AT ALL.

So, everyone (including myself) hasn't even thought of the terrible possibility of LMA ruining out little picnic here by testing the waters after next season. I mean the difference between 60 and 80 million seems a little silly to us common folk but it makes a big difference to these players historically. What are the chances that LMA and the Blazer dont agree on an extension?

Bill Simmons calls out the Refs and Stern

This article was on the front page on ESPN.com this morning.

Bill Simmons

Now i know many people on this site were getting sick and tired of the "Blame the Ref!" and i have stayed relatively quiet about his topic but at this point you just cant tell me that there is not a serious problem. In the article Simmons throws out some ideas about using the internet to embarass the league into making a change. YouTube clips, high traffic sites and blogs tracking bad/missed calls, things of that nature. Just got me thinking about what us fans could do to start a change outside of turning off the TV. Those of you who agree that there is a problem, what can we do to start the revolution!!

New backup PF?

After watching that turrible play of our backup PF's this last month, i kinda get the feeling that channing and Ike are not going to cut it. Trout at the 4 hasn't been working out to great lately either, maybe due to Rudy taking a lot of his touches. I bring this up because Brian Hendrickson's Blazer Banters Blog has a good article about Joel Freeland. Anyone remember him? He's long, big, athletic and improving. Should we bring him over next year and give him a chance?

Opp. Field Goal % worries

Hey everyone. As much as this team has impressed me this season one thing has been buggin/worrying me, Opp field goal percentage. Our defense has improved over last year thanks to Batum, Roy and Sergio's improvement, and Gregzilla holding down the paint but we are 22nd in opp. FG%. I know we are 7th in ppg allowed but i feel like that has a lot to do about our rebounding and being able to keep teams off the offensive glass. We have been winning games this year when teams have a higher field goal percentage then us, mostly because of 3pt shooting and rebounding. I guess my point is that all the legit playoff teams are holding teams to lower percentages than we are and im worried that the 3pt well will dry up like it did last year after our 13 game win streak and we wont be able to win games when another team outshoots us by 5%. Im not saying that the team will drop off big time or miss the playoffs its just something that has stuck out to me.
