I don't mind disagreeing. I was just hoping that packaging them both and adding cash would have sweetened the deal a bit.

Your response says nothing about draft position and value correlation. Up here, that's all I'm trying to juggle.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 7:19p - 1 reply
I do, you don't. Hooray we're different.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 7:14p
Oh, I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just wondering why crockett and LDR think I'm wrong.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 7:12p - 1 reply
Didn't say its wrong, said its weird. And it is. In the NFL, draft picks have value because you can trade them.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 7:08p - 1 reply
If you want to tell me why it's not weird, step right up. I am legitimately curious. I made my point, I excited to see the counterpoint that proves the value of an amateur draft slot outside the top 20.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:59p - 2 replies
I get that, I'm just trying to figure out why I'm wrong about thinking draft position is a weird way to assign value.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:55p - 2 replies
At least in this part of the thread, all I'm saying is that it's a weird way to assign value to a player.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:45p - 1 reply
Pedroia was Theo's 65th pick, so you may be onto something...
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:42p
Then please, correct me, as I am not seeing a long lineage of 65th overall picks even making the bigs.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:37p - 3 replies
Yes, it is.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:28p - 2 replies
No, can people stop putting words in my mouth, please?
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:20p - 1 reply
Meh and meh traded for meh equals meh.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:15p - 2 replies
With all the bats coming through the system, I daresay we won't need to rush him to Wrigley.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:15p
Ok, we have no exciting pitching depth.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:11p - 3 replies
Maybe. I haven't hated on the trade, I just have found it really "meh".
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:10p - 2 replies
It has, but our waves and waves are mostly huge bats.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:09p - 1 reply
Wasn't Cash just coming off injury though?
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:08p
So lets get more.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:07p - 1 reply
No.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:07p - 1 reply
Don't know. All I know is I am a bit underwhelmed from the trade.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:05p - 2 replies
From a better system, yeah. The Braves system is bad.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:03p - 3 replies
Then I guess I'll just be allowed to have a "meh" reaction. Life goes on.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:02p - 2 replies
No one thought the Rizzo/Cashner trade was fair. We knew we fleeced them from day one.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 6:00p - 2 replies
The number 5 guy in the Braves system, or the number 5 guy in the next best system, or the next.....
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:59p - 2 replies
I'm saying they are great at extracting value in their trades.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:59p - 2 replies
That's a weird way of assigning value to a player...
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:57p - 3 replies
No, but both of them + cash should be slightly more than what we got. We're talking about the guys who got Rizzo for Cashner, Arrieta for Feldman, Russell for Shark.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:55p - 5 replies
If the Braves system wasn't ~bottom 5 in baseball, I'd be more excited.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:53p - 1 reply
I loved getting Corey Black for Soriano.

Agreeing with me in this thread is a death sentence...
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:47p - 2 replies
And with the Sheffield comps thrown around Baez....
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:30p
No, it's not. My contention is that they thought they could squeeze more from another team.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:26p - 2 replies
They thought they could have traded him yesterday, and end up trading him at the last second.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:19p - 2 replies
And there is nothing silly about thinking that they were in a stare-down for better prospects.
Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:16p - 1 reply
Because I honestly don't like talking to you. You're incredibly confrontational.

Commented on James Russell, Emilio Bonifacio Traded To Braves on Jul 31 2014, 5:13p - 1 reply
Would have rather seen an intriguing arm come back instead.

Or maybe they were hoping another team would blink, which was the prevailing wisdom these last few hours.
Commented on 2014 MLB Trade Deadline: Overflow Thread on Jul 31 2014, 5:00p - 1 reply
Maybe they felt they could hold off for a better package.

With how the rumors were swirling around Bonifacio these last 2 days, maybe we could have.

Let's see, anyone from 1-6 on the Braves system, anyone 1-6 on the 23rd system, 22nd system, 21st system..

This is good. Stick to the plan.

Kinda tired of seeing these fake tweets. It was cute once, but I just want to know what's actually happening right now.

Why not? I'd love a 21st inning stretch.

After trading for both Lester and Price, there won't be many kids left to bring up.

We should settle this game with a Home Run Derby. The Cubs nominate Rizzo.

I don't care how much this game has dragged, I still dig the ole 14th inning stretch.

It's stupid because it makes perfect sense. Their AA affiliate is an hour from Houston.
Commented on Cardinals 1, Cubs 0: Nailbiter on Jul 27 2014, 6:43p - 2 replies
I think Rizzo has to accept that he doesn't run very fast. He was thrown out trying to swipe 2nd the other day as well(yeah it was probably a hit and run, but that should have been enough of a clue for him about his speed)
Commented on Cardinals 1, Cubs 0: Nailbiter on Jul 27 2014, 6:27p
With a guy like Arrieta, I want to be beyond "not gonna complain"
Commented on Cardinals 6, Cubs 3: Bullpen (And Other) Follies on Jul 26 2014, 10:35p - 1 reply
No, but he could be a solution.
Commented on Cardinals 6, Cubs 3: Bullpen (And Other) Follies on Jul 26 2014, 10:28p - 1 reply
Any team with 5 Arrieta's would be in great shape. Problem is, we only have one.
Commented on Cardinals 6, Cubs 3: Bullpen (And Other) Follies on Jul 26 2014, 10:24p - 1 reply
All I'm saying is Arrieta needs more one pitch outs.
Commented on Cardinals 6, Cubs 3: Bullpen (And Other) Follies on Jul 26 2014, 10:09p - 3 replies
Only 41 guys in baseball average 4 pitches per plate appearance. Jake is throwing too many pitches overall then if he's averaging that.
Commented on Cardinals 6, Cubs 3: Bullpen (And Other) Follies on Jul 26 2014, 9:47p - 3 replies
Yeah, but 6 Ks should not run you up to 109 pitches in 6 innings.
Commented on Cardinals 6, Cubs 3: Bullpen (And Other) Follies on Jul 26 2014, 9:33p - 2 replies
EDIT: Wrong game. Still, he threw a lot of pitches every inning.
Commented on Cardinals 6, Cubs 3: Bullpen (And Other) Follies on Jul 26 2014, 9:23p - 1 reply
Tons of pitches for Jake, but he had some electric stuff at times.
Commented on Cardinals 6, Cubs 3: Bullpen (And Other) Follies on Jul 26 2014, 9:13p - 2 replies
And he'll slap home plate emphatically right in front of AJ.
Commented on Overflow Thread 3: Cubs vs. Cardinals, Saturday 7/26, 3:05 CT on Jul 26 2014, 7:14p
The only way he comes to the plate in the 9th is a tie game, 2 outs and bases loaded.

There goes Rizzo's hitting streak. Time to start a new one tomorrow.

Jake pitched real well, and Nate's homer did tie it for a minute.

When they first showed that angle, I agreed, he looked safe.

Yeah, he was out. His pant moves as the frame advances from the pressure from the tag.
