I'm here all week, literally. I've actually been here for a month, and next week it looks like I will be in Nashville

On the road again,

Just can't wait to get on the road again

Greetings from on top of the world.

Yup, I knows it's been a while, but I've sorta been getting around since football season closed out.

I started out from right at the close of the football season and went to Dallas, TX. From Dallas I ended up In Kansas City, MO and then to Kansas City, KS. Don't ask it's a long story.

Then I went to Little Rock for a while.

And now I'm here.

Surrounded.

The cop who pulled me over on 280 raised his eyebrows and asked "How does a guy with Missouri plates, have Tennessee Volunteer stickers on his truck end up in Alabama?"

Actually what he said was, "Ow duz eh gi wid Misuri n playts, in does dadblamed lousy coon fearin yeller bellied orange luvin Tanacee stikemups inup in Halabama?"

I just grinned and asked if he was going to let me slide on the 60 in the 55.

I am in Birmingham. Well sort of. I'm between Birmingham and where the Tusks are Looser, or Tuscaloosa. Be here for at least another week or so, maybe 2, then I'm heading to Jackson TN for a unknwon period of time.

I've been following the Vols Football process and I still say the jury is out on Kiffin: Only because I haven't actually watched a Vol Game yet. Otherwise he has managed to stir up much adieu about nothing in less time than it takes to talk about by putting himself and the program right where it needs to be anyway: Front Page.

I'm staying tuned, and now that I've finally gotten a decent laptop again (my other one didn't make it. It jumped off a ledge and committed suicide after the whole Kiffin/Spurrier debacle. It was never big on soap operas) I'm hoping to be around a bit more.

In the meantime keep it real, and I'll try to help keep yer cellphones on for ya.

Thats a big Maybe for you Bama fans however :) I didn't get out of that dadblamed ticket either.

Yeah I know I've been remarkably absent. I've been traveling between Kansas City, Kansas, Little Rock Arkansas, and my home in Southwest Missouri back and forth repeatedly for the last 3 months, so my online has been practically nonexistent, even at my own site. But I thought some of ya'll might get a kick out of this. Peace! - BS

Do you like Penn State?

Do you like it enough to smell like Penn State?

Yeah, I said it.

A company called Masik has created a cologne that is supposed to .."capture the essence" of Penn State.

The company says the unique scents are based on "school colors, campus flowers and trees" and other features.

The company plans to make cologne for the University of North Carolina, and a number of other collegiate scents.

I wanna see them bottle Rocky Top.

Of course with the way our season has gone they may try to bottle Smokey. After a Knoxville rain.

Yes friends it is that time.

The game.

It's not The Game but frankly its damn close.

We have to prove ourselves.

We beat UAB. Albeit by nothing that we thought we would. But beating UAB is akin to beating up your 5 year old kid brother who wants to hang with you because he thinks your cool. Theres just no meaning behind, and it doesn't really do anything for either of you.

We know this team can win games.

The probably seems to be more along the lines of they don't know.

And frankly, the latest round of fan gaggling as Will Overstreet pointed out, does no one any good.

Its time to rally, my friends. To hold the penants high.

Tennessee vs UAB: Stormy Weekend Edition

Yeah its going to be a entertaining weekend.

First off we have Tennessee hosting the UAB Blazers.

Meanwhile I think I have mentioned that I am currently in Texas for some training for my job.

That's right, Texas. 14 of us.

So the other big game of the weekend is going to be "BloodSpite & Co. vs Hurricane Ike"

Thus provided we don't get blown away to Oz I'll be attempting to get the game somehow. Even if I have to stick my room mate on the roof with an antennae in the storm.

No, don't worry. We'll be fine and he understands completely.

I'll be holding the antennae for his Mizzou game

Rocky Top Talk puts it the best today

Tennessee does it better than anyone. While there are myriad reasons college football inspires fanaticism among its followers, one stands above the rest.

It's the anticipation.

Today's on-demand technology has rendered that state of human emotion known as anticipation practically extinct. Do you remember, back in the day, when your t.v. received programming from a grand total of three channels? Back then, programming was fixed in time and therefore scarce. Frosty the Snowman was shown once in December, and if you missed it, well, you just missed it.

Far be it from me to dress it up better than Joel does. He has it on the money.

Win or lose, this is my team. Its my alumni. Its my school. In many ways its my way of life.

Most of my freinds are Pro-Football fans. They have a hard time understanding my obsession with a college team, a team whose players are constantly in flux, a team who wins big, loses big, and makes no money and whose ranking system is more confusing than your Uncle Bobs instructions on fly fishing.

I can only boil it down to one thing: It's my team.

We are now at 11 hours and counting.

Game time, tonight. On ESPN.
