McAllister or Rolle?

Per ESPN:

The Baltimore Ravens have informed cornerback Samari Rolle that he will be released. Rolle, who was scheduled to make $4.1 million this season, had previously requested to be released. On Friday, Rolle was informed by the Ravens that he will be placed on waivers within the next few days.

Injuries and age limit my interest in McAllister and Rolle, but I'd wouldn't mind signing one or the other to a reasonable contract for added depth. Considering their extensive experience, if they can return to health they would solidify a young secondary. Plus we could focus on a DT, LB & SS at the top of the draft.

The Bucs are stuck with him for another 5 years. Yeah baby!!!

$26 million for five years...have the Bucs ever watched this guy play??? Here I was all worried that they might add another legitimate receiving threat along side Bryant and Winslow. Am I crazy or what?
All I can conclude is that this is proof positive the Bucs are going to focus on their running game next season. Good luck with that. Warrick Dunn was their best back and now he's gone.

Forget Pettigrew

Let's not waste our 1st pick on Pettigrew. Yes he's talented, BUT this year's draft is deep at the TE position. PLUS, if you exclude Tony Gonzalez, 1st round Tight Ends have historically had little more success in the NFL than 2nd and 3rd rounders. Consider the (incomplete) list below.

1st Rd: Tony Gonzalez, Dallas Clark, Jeremy Shockey, Todd Heap, Bubba Franks, Kellen Winslow II, Vernon Davis, and Jerramy Stevens

2nd Rd: Alge Crumpler, John Carlson

3rd Rd: Jason Witten, Chris Cooley

4th Rd: Owen Daniels

5th Rd: Donald Lee

7th Rd: Shannon Sharpe

Undrafted: Antonio Gates

Matt Ryan just made big money. Will he be worth it? It's impossible to say now, but I'd like to know what your gut feeling is right now. Which former first round QB will Matt Ryan's career most similarly compare. >>>

Will he lead the Falcons to multiple championships?
Will he set league passing records?
Will he have an up & down career?
Will he have a long road to greatness?
Will he start hot then burn out?
Or will he just be a bust from day one?

Keith Brooking is an unselfish, under-appreciated STUD. He has sacrificed padding his personal stats by playing out of position for over half of his career because of his love and dedication to this team. I hope those traits rub off on the next generation of Falcon LBs. And I also hope Curtis Lofton will be the second-coming of Jessie Tuggle allowing Brooking to wreak some serious havoc on the outside before he retires.

Sam Baker

Some of my idiot friends are still complaining about our 1st rd draft picks. They're saying we should have waited to pick up a QB like Brian Brohm in the 2nd rd. They point out the fact that as late as January most draft experts still had Brohm rated as a top ten QB (some had him over Ryan). With that in mind I did a little homework and inadvertently found something worth noting. While Brohm definitely was considered a top ten QB in January, most experts also had Sam Baker rated in the top 15...some even had Baker in the top 10 in January! SUMMARY: For everyone (especially my idiot friends) who think Brohm dropped in the rankings due to over-analysis, why don't you give the same consideration to Sam Baker???

I really like (but don't love) our first 3 picks.
I'm content with our next 3 picks.
But I'm downright cross-eyed over our final four picks.

I understand that beyond the 3rd round teams are generally drafting for either future "projects" or special teams. Apparently in our case Dimitroff & Smith decided we need a lot of special team players.

I mean for the love of all things holy we could have taken at least one project. We could have had big-ole Frank Okam(DT), DeMario Pressley(DT), Roy Schuening(OG), Carl Nicks(OT) or Kellen Davis(TE) in the 5th rd!!!

I understand some of these players may have had character issues, but so what...they are 5TH ROUNDERS!!!
