(I have no proof of anything I am saying.  These are just my theories.  Now, in no particular order...)

1.  Curtis Painter is actually a football savant and fans simply do not know it.  Although he lacks the physical abilities, his mind is lightyears ahead of everyone else's.  As Stephen Hawkings is to physics, Curtis Painter is to football.  He is Sid Gilman, Bill Walsh, and Vince Lombardi all rolled into one.  He adds so much to Peyton Manning's game preparation that it forced Polian's hand into cutting Jim Sorgi.  One day Painter's brilliance will manifest itself fully and he will become the greatest NFL head coach of all time.

2.  Curtis Painter has compromising pictures of someone.  HEY...I'm not sayin'.  I'm just sayin'.

3.  Curtis Painter won a secret contest where an average fan like us gets to wear an official Colts uniform and pretend to be an NFL QB for a couple of seasons.  Curtis is actually being followed by a camera crew for a reality show that will be on par with Jersey Shore.

4.  Curtis Painter is actually Peyton Manning's little cousin on his mom's side and a key member of PM's entourage.  Now that I think about it, they do kind of look alike...

5.  Either Jim Irsay or Bill Polian lost a bet and this is the payoff.

Bill Polian will go down as the greatest football personnel man of all time.  His resume is lengthy and Hall of Fame worthy.  Under his leadership, the Colts have shown an ability to see things in situations and players that others do not.  And because of this, the Colts have been the most successful regular season team...EVER. 

It is for exactly this reason that the entire situation is so perplexing and angering.  How could the Colts (Bill Polian in particular) not see this coming?  Did they think we were still a basketball state?  Are those Butler Bulldog blue jerseys being worn at the game or Colts jerseys?

The absolute lack of foresight and uncanny clumsiness with the public relations piece of quitting has burned the Colts badly in these past few days.  And in my eyes, they deserve it.

For a team that prides itself on doing things the right way an avoiding contraversy at all cost, they failed miserably here.  The Colts really created a lose/lose scenary for themselves.  By giving up in the Jets game, is there any scenario where fans will not be ticked?  Let me take us through the possible scenarios:

1)  Win the Super Bowl.  I, along with many others, would be more appeased if we won the Super Bowl.  But we could have beaten the Jets, beaten the Bills and still won the Super Bowl!  Colts fans are frustrated to no ends because Bill Polian doesn't seem to understand this one simple notion!

2)  Lose in the playoffs.  The Colts have created this notion that winning the Super Bowl and going undefeated are mutually exclusive.  Well, if they should lose in the playoffs (God forbid the first round) the city will riot!  When the Pats lost the Super Bowl in 2007, they could still suckle on the bone that they went undefeated in the regular season.  Now we don't even have that.

3)  Lose in the playoffs to the Jets.  What if the Jets make the playoffs and come back into the Luke?  What if Mark Sanchez has a career game and through a set of flukey circumstances, we LOSE in the divisional round to the Jets whom we could have knocked out?  Yeah.  Doomsday scenario. 

All I know is I'm still pissed and so are lots of others.  I wanted an immortal team.  Polian robbed our fans of that.  The only thing that could possibly make up for this is an undefeated season next year!  But then DAMN IT!  If that happened, we could have gone back to back undefeated. 

If only Jim Irsay were still alive.  None of this would have ever happened.  Oh wait---he is alive!  But where the heck is Irsay???  Can't he come out and offer up an apology or a free chalupa for every one in Indy or something?!!  Oh forget it, my nose is bleeding again---oh look, it's blue!
