Stampede Blue Colts Mock

I have a full mock on Mocking the Draft but here's who I have for the Colts:

1st Round. Duh, Andrew Luck.

2nd Round: TRADE pick to Panthers for their 2nd Rd pick, 4th Rd pick, and 2013 4th Rd pick. Select Kevin Zeitler, OG.

3rd Round: Marvin Jones, WR. Let him learn from Reggie while getting playing time on the outside and in the slot.

4th Round: Bobby Wagner, ILB. Might be able to start soon and if nothing else, valuable LB depth in the new scheme.

4th Round (from Carolina): Keith Tandy, CB. Desperately seeking secondary help.

5th Round: Greg Childs, WR. A big target for Luck. The additions of Jones and Childs should more than make up for the loss of Garcon and Gonzalez...

5th Round (Compensation): Janzen Jackson, S. If his head is on straight, he has huge upside.

6th Round (Compensation): Akiem Hicks, NT. A big body to rotate with McKinney.

7th Round: Evan Rodriguez, FB/TE. Could see playing time at both positions. Will probably still need a big TE.

7th Round: Julian Miller, OLB. Could possibly rotate in at the OLB position, ahead of another bust, Hughes....

7th Round (Compensation): Markus Kuhn, DE. Mr Irrelevant might get some playing time in the rotation with Redding and whoever else we throw out at there as an end.

Possible UDFA that I still had on my board:

DJ Holt, ILB.

Cameron Chism, CB.

Tony Dye, S.

Chris Owusu, WR.

Nick Provo, TE.

Stampede Blue Prepping for the 3-4 by way of draft

So here's a mock draft for the Colts. I know most fans don't want to trade out of the Andrew Luck pick but by doing that we could add several players that will fit Pagano's scheme better.

Here's the mock:

Round 1, Pick #1: Colts trade pick to Browns for #4, #22, 3rd Rd pick, and 2013 2nd Rd pick.

Round 1, Pick #4: Redskins trade up to get RG3 so Colts move back again and add more picks. Trade #4 pick to Dallas (who picks Claiborne) for #14 pick, 2nd Rd pick, 2013 1st and 4th Rd picks.

Round 1, Pick #14: Dont'a Hightower, ILB. Let the transitioning begin. Pagano's new Ray Lewis.

Round 1, Pick #22: Peter Konz, C. Saturday might retire and Pollak hasn't shown enough.

Round 2: Mark Barron, S and Nick Foles, QB (from Cowboys)

Round 3: Dontari Poe, NT and Donnie Fletcher, CB (from Browns)

Round 4: Juron Criner, WR and Shea McClellin, OLB (from Cowboys)

Supplemental 4th - Joe Adams, WR

5th - DeQuan Menzie, CB

6th - Malik Jackson, DE

7th - Rokevious Watkins, OG

Supplemental 7th - Josh Chichester, TE

This also sets us up to have two 2013 first rounders, two 2013 second rounders, and two 2013 4th rounders.

Mocking The Draft 3 Round mock with a couple of trades

Let the griping begin...

Shock Draft with Trades.

1.       Indianapolis – TRADED TO WAS: QB Andrew Luck. Shanahan has had enough of the Rex/Beck experiment.

2.       St. Louis – WR Alshon Jeffery. They go with AJ over Blackmon due to attitude though it might be a mistake.

3.       Minnesota – OT Matt Kalil.  Their future is Ponder and they need to do a better job protecting him.

4.       Miami – QB Matt Barkley.  It’s time to start fresh with a new QB.

5.       Washington – TRADED TO IND: WR Justin Blackmon. Wayne is a FA and even if he re-signs, he’s on his last leg.

6.       Carolina – DT Brandon Thompson. They can’t seem to stop the run so they grab the local kid a little earlier than what he should probably go.

7.       Denver – CB Morris Claiborne. Need youth/help in the secondary.  Has jumped over Kirkpatrick as the best CB in draft.

8.       Kansas City – RB Trent Richardson.  Should take some of the load off of Charles.

9.       Jacksonville – CB Dre Kirkpatrick. Need a shutdown corner to cover Andre Johnson and now Justin Blackmon.

10.   Cleveland – OT Riley Reiff.

11.   Arizona – OT Jonathan Martin.

12.   Seattle – DE Quintin Coples.

13.   Philadelphia – LB Manti Te’o.

14.   Tampa Bay  – CB Alfonzo Dennard. Need secondary help going up against Brees and Ryan.

15.   San Diego – WR Michael Floyd. Rivers needs some playmakers at receiver.

Mocking The Draft Shock Draft with Trades

Order's kind of random so I threw in some trades.

Shock Draft with Trades.

1.       Indianapolis – TRADED TO DAL: Andrew Luck, QB. No Romo, less mistakes.

2.       Miami – Matt Barkley, QB. They hope he’s more Palmer than Leinart.

3.       Kansas City – Matt Kalil, OT. Albert moves to Guard and the line looks a whole lot better.

4.       St. Louis – Justin Blackmon, WR. Bradford needs some serious receiving help.

5.       Minnesota – Brandon Thompson, DT.  Added beef on the defensive line.

6.       Carolina – Alshon Jeffery, WR. Steve Smith might not be back next season. Local kid should make more plays with Cam throwing the ball instead of Garcia/Shaw.

7.       Denver – Jonathan Martin, OT.  Attempt to build around Tebow.

8.       Arizona – Riley Reiff, OT. Protect your investment in Kolb.

9.       Philadelphia – TRADED TO CIN: Trent Richardson, RB.  Continuing to build a young talented offense.

10.   Dallas – TRADED TO IND: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB. Best corner falls in their laps.

11.   Jacksonville – Quinton Coples, DE. Not playing well this season but should take over for Kamp.

12.   Cleveland – Michael Floyd, WR. Super talented and troubled. Should make Colt look more serviceable.

13.   Chicago – Morris Claiborne, CB.  They wanted one of the WRs but settle for a young stud CB.

14.   Seattle – Landry Jones, QB.  Don’t trade up for Barkley and settle for Jones. They could probably use a RB like Richardson.

15.   Tampa Bay – David DeCastro, OG. Not a sexy pick but helps with depth up front.

16.   Cleveland (ATL) – Andrew Datko, OT.  Joe Thomas can’t block everyone.

17.   Pittsburgh – Mark Barron, S. Aging secondary gets best safety.

18.   Tennessee – Jerel Worthy, DT. Not the same since Big Al left.

19.   Cincinnati – TRADED TO PHI: Travis Lewis, LB. Need serious help at LB.

20.   New York Jets – Devin Taylor, OLB.  Need to do a better job of rushing the passer.

21.   Houston – Vinny Curry, OLB. Williams coming off surgery and they need help rushing the passer.

22.   Washington – Robert Griffin III, QB. Enough Good Rex to make the playoffs, too much Bad Rex to go any further.  Playmaker makes the team exciting.

23.   Buffalo – Courtney Upshaw, OLB.  Must get to Brady more often.

24.   New York Giants – TRADED TO BAL: Vontaze Burfict, MLB. Punishing defender added to Ravens.

25.   Oakland – Chase Minnifield, CB.  Still miss Nnamdi.

26.   San Francisco – Bruce Irvin, OLB. Speed and pressure on defense.  What a difference Harbaugh makes…

27.   New England – Janoris Jenkins, CB.  Worth the gamble when you have two 1st round picks.

28.   Detroit – Manti Te’o, MLB.  BPA happens to be an upgrade.  Should have quite a few tackles behind Suh and Fairley.

29.   San Diego – Jayron Hosley, CB.  Nickleback.

30.   New England (NO) – Brandon Jenkins, OLB. Still trying to get a consistent pass rush.

31.   Baltimore – TRADED TO NYG: Alfonzo Dennard, CB.  Injuries, injuries, injuries.  Can team up with Prince again whenever he’s healthy enough to play.

Stampede Blue 2011 Season predictions

I noticed that our neighbors at BCC have a Bold Predictions post regarding their Jags 2011 season.  Bold indeed, they predict they win the division among other things...

Instead of focusing on just predictions for the Colts, how about league predictions for the upcoming season.  Here goes:

1. Patriots edge Colts for #1 AFC seed but lose to Indy in AFCCG.

2. Vick gets hurt but Eagles hold on for #3 NFC seed (behind Packers and Saints)

3. Peyton MVP. Mark Ingram NFC ROY, Daniel Thomas AFC ROY.

4. Neither Chris Johnson or Arian Foster reach 1,000 yds rushing.

5. Calvin Johnson leads league in receiving, Aaron Rodgers in passing, Adrian Peterson in rushing, and Steven Jackson in yds from scrimmage.

6. Colts over Saints in Super Bowl.

7. Colts sign Randy Moss after week 3.  Not due to injuries but to inconsistent play by Gonzalez and Garcon.

What's your predictions?

Mocking The Draft My super early Mock Draft

Yes, I'm a homer and picked the Colts to win.

1.       Redskins – Andrew Luck, QB Stanford.

Shanahan still looking for the next Elway.

2.       Seahawks – Matt Barkley, QB USC.

Coach Pete’s plan all along, get Barkley to Seattle.

3.       Dolphins – Landry Jones, QB Oklahoma.

Won’t be booed as much as Henne.

4.       Raiders – Quinton Coples, DE UNC.

They could use a QB but the best are gone. *insert Al Davis joke here*

5.       Panthers – Alshon Jeffery, WR USCe.

Steve Smith can’t make Newton look good all on his own.

6.       Bills – Dre Kirkpatrick, CB Alabama.

With top QB’s gone, they get someone they hope can cover Ochocinco and Plax.

7.       Bengals – Matt Kalil, OT USC.

Andre was a bust and Dalton’s running for his life.

8.       Jaguars – Justin Blackmon, WR OkState.

Blaine needs more targets than Marcedes.

9.       Browns – Vontaze Burfict, MLB AzState.

Toughness in the defense.

10.   Cardinals – Jonathan Martin, OT Stanford.

Protect Kolb.

11.   Titans - Jerrel Worthy, DT MichState.

Things haven’t been the same since Big Al left town.

12.   Bears – Riley Reiff, OT Iowa.

Cutler can’t throw when he’s on his back.

13.   49ers – Trent Richardson, RB Alabama.

Let Gore holdout…

14.   Vikings – Brandon Jenkins, DE FSU.

Must. Get. To. Rodgers.

15.   Bucs – Alfonzo Dennard, CB Nebraska.

Aqib who???

16.   Broncos – Manti Te’o, MLB Notre Dame.

Best player available.

17.   Giants – Jeff Fuller, WR Texas A&M.

Eli hopes this guy can stay healthy.

18.   Lions – Jayron Holsey, CB Virginia Tech.

He won’t have to cover long with all the pressure that D-Line will bring.

19.   Texans – Don’t’a Hightower, MLB Alabama.

Continue to add to that 3-4 defense.

20.   Ravens – Donte Paige-Moss, OLB UNC.

Add youth to that defense.

21.   Cowboys – Stephon Gilmore, CB USCe.

Jenkins hasn’t worked out.

22.   Jets – Courtney Upshaw, OLB Alabama.

Get younger on defense and get to Brady.

23.   RamsTravis Lewis, LB Oklahoma.

Keep adding talent to the defense.

24.   SteelersMike Adams, OT Ohio State.

Must protect Big Ben from all that pressure the Ravens and Pats will bring.

Who does Colt throw to?

26.   Chargers – Mohamed Sanu, WR Rutgers.

Better than Buster…

27.   Eagles – Marcus Forston, DT Miami.

Looks like Patterson may be done with football.

28.   Chiefs – Devin Taylor, OLB USCe.

Can take the pressure off Tamba and help hit Rivers.

29.   Packers – Jared Crick, DE Nebraska.

Youth on the D-Line.

30.   Patriots – Michael Floyd, WR Notre Dame.

Keep taking troubled players, it’s liable to catch up with you.

32.   Colts – Chase Minnifield, CB Virginia.

Need help in that fragile secondary.

Stampede Blue Upcoming Draft Steals

Do you know of someone you think would look good in a Colts uniform?

Can this player be a steal in the draft?

There are a few players I'd like to see suit up for the Colts, few are realistic.  As a Vols fan, I'd love it if we traded up and ended up with Berry (100% impossible).  However, I'd like to draw your attention to Dennis Rogan from Tennessee.  He's an undersized, fast, good tackling corner back who can return kicks.  I'd love it if we picked him up in the 3rd or 4th round.

Who do you like?

Mocking The Draft Early Mock to mock, have at it

I edited the draft just a little.  I have Bulaga that low only due to injuries and struggles so far this season.  There's not a lot of huge needs for RBs early in the draft so I didn't place Dwyer with the thoughts he might stay at GT.

I know Jax fans don't want another WR but a few years ago, the Lions didn't either.

Don't crack on the draft order, it's only projections.

Stampede Blue Need players for fantasy league

We are in need of 3 players for a fantasy league on Fleaflicker.  Please post your email address if interested.  It is a keeper league that drafts tonight.

The teams that need to be filled draft 1st, 3rd and 4th.  I will be resetting rosters shortly before the draft.  If we are unable to fill the league then we will possibly have to delay the draft.  If you want anymore information regarding the teams, please let me know soon so we can get the league ready to draft.

Thanks.

Minor League Ball Farm System

I have a fantasy farm system with the following players:

Drabek, Michael Taylor, Brad Holt, Scott Barnes, Allen Craig, Cowgill, DeVall, Brandon Crawford, Travis D'Arnaud, Nick Noonan, Dan McDaniel, Aaron Shafer, Brody Colvin, Clayton Tanner, Josh Collmenter, Sebastian Valle, Yohan Flande, Anthony Gose, Domingo Santana, and Joe Savery.  I also have all the Phillies drafted/signed this past year.

I know it's not that great of a farm system but how would they rank if they were my top 20?

Talking Chop Too early???

No, this isn't another plug for Heyward to be called up.  With the deadline to sign draft picks this year coming quickly,  is it to early to look to next years draft?

Here are some names to keep in mind.

We have no shot at Bryce Harper but he's next year's version Justin Upton (HS prodigy) if he can get eligible.

Kaleb Cowart - 3B/RHP from Georgia.  Good arm strength from 3rd but most likely projected as a pitcher.  Committed to FSU.

Tyler Austin - C/3B from Georgia.  More developed as a Catcher than a 3B but he hasn't looked too bad in the field.  As of now I don't think he's committed to any school.  He's a bit raw but has a good swing from the right side.

Zach Alvord - Middle Infielder from Georgia.  Has played just about every infield position but will probably be a 2B.  He drills fast balls but struggles a little bit on breaking pitches.  He does pull the ball pretty well.  Committed to Auburn.

Marcus Littlewood - SS from Utah.  Switchhitter who is very good defensively.  His dad is a coach and he is committed to San Diego.

DeAndre Smelter - RHP from Georgia. Kevin Brown is his HS coach.  His fastball is in the 93-94 range and he has a pretty good repeatable delivery.  He's also working on a Slider and Splitter in the 80s.

College players to look at (if they're eligible):

Tony Thompson, 3B  Kansas

A.J. Morris, P Kansas State

Louis Coleman, P LSU

Mike McGee, INF FSU

I'd kind of like to see Atlanta take Smelter or Cowart but it's still very early.

Talking Chop Royals

So I just noticed on ESPN that Coco Crisp will be out for the season.  Will this in any way affect their interest in acquiring our young stud Failcouer?  Of course, I would want nothing to do with it if it means getting Jose Guillen.  If Guillen isn't in the deal, who could we target and potentially steal from Dayton Moore and the Royals

Hey, if the Royals thing doesn't work out maybe we could trade Frenchy to Boston for Nick Green, I hear he's gonna be a stud...

Minor League Ball Prospects?

Are any of the following prospects a Top 50 prospect possiblity for next season and if so, where would you rank them?

Kyle Drabek

Brad Holt

Brandon Crawford

Nick Noonan

Brett DeVall

Michael Taylor

Dan McDaniel

Adrian Ortiz

Aaron Shafer

Clayton Tanner

Joe Savery

Travis D'Arnaud

Sebastian Valle

I have these prospects in a Sim league and was just curious how they project.  For the most part, I have the Phillies farm system and will have whoever they draft in this year's draft.  Are there any players they're obviously targeting in the upcoming draft?

Thanks.

Buffalo Rumblings Help from StampedeBlue

Hello dear football friends,

I am BlueVol03 from over at Stampede Blue.  As most sites are, we are doing a mock draft and I will be picking for your Bills.  I have browsed your site and seen many opinions on Maybin, Pettigrew, Matthews, and other prospects.  I have an idea of where to go with my picks but wanted to ask for insight from Bills fans.

With the Peters situation, are you looking for an OT?

Is Pettigrew worth a selection that high?

Is there a DE worth selecting at that spot in the draft?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

BlueVol03

Stampede Blue It's a great day

to be living in Texas.  The Cowboys get whipped when all they need is one win to make the playoffs.  The last game in their famous stadium and they laid down and played pitiful.  If it had been the Lions instead of the Eagles, the Lions would probably not be the first  0-16 team.

We need to revisit some of the preseason posts regarding the season.  I know the Cowboys were the sexy pick by the media.  I'm surprised the Titans had such a good year, and congratulate them for that.  However, I had said all year that the Jags would fall on their face and finish below the Texans in the standings.  The Panthers also surprised me...

Just curious, is Romo still going to win more rings than Peyton?

Stampede Blue DT Prospects and more

Sanders_fan89 did a good post about the DT position and the prospects in the next draft.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if Polian does the usual and drafts someone we would have never expected.

What other positions/players could you see Polian taking in the draft?

Alphonso Smith, CB - Wake Forest

Victor Harris, CB - Virginia Tech

Both of the cornerbacks are ideal fits for the Cover-2 scheme.  More scouts are high on Harris (probably due to size) although Smith has much better numbers this year and in this career.  Smith could fall to us in the 2nd but Harris could go late 1st or early 2nd round.

Max Unger, OL - Oregon

Max has played every position on the Oregon offensive line in his career as a Duck.  He also seems to be a very intelligent player.  He's a Mudd type of lineman and if Ugoh/Johnson don't show significant improvement I wouldn't be surprised to see Polian keep rebuilding the depth of this line.  He's a first rounder and could end up top 15 or 20 depending on what underclassmen declare.

Jarett Dillard, WR - Rice

Dillard is not blessed size or an outstanding 40 time.  He has put up some huge numbers and is a very sharp route runner.  He currently leads the nation with 14 TDs and has 5 NCAA receiving records.  He could probably be had in the third round.

Personally, I think we miss out on Unger in the first and grab a DT(I like Jerry).  We could then go with Smith in the 2nd and Dillard in the 3rd.

Anyone else have any prospects that you believe could be a good fit for the Colts?

Stampede Blue Sim Leagues

I know several users on here are already a part of Goal Line Blitz but how many have heard of My Football Sim?  Maybe we could get enough teams together from Colts fans and form a league.

I am also looking for something more like this:  http://boards.buffalobills.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16

Does anyone know of an NFL GM Sim league similar to the above?  If not, would anyone be interested in forming a league?

Stampede Blue Romo out

It looks like the beating that Romo took yesterday left him with a broken finger.  He should miss about 4 games.  Brad Johnson will take over at QB.  Owens can't be thrilled and Phillips may be gone.

I never cheer for a player to go down but it's nice to see Dallas having problems.  It's going to be a good week down here in Texas.  We stomp Baltimore and Dallas loses.  I'm already enjoying rubbing it in to the co-workers.

Talking Chop Forget Peavy, how about

some other young pitchers that won't cost as much.  We are still rebuilding so there's no need to mortgage the farm system to win now.

Names to consider that would come cheaper than Jake:

Zach Greinke - offer Frenchy and Medlen

Jeff Niemann - offer Flowers and Owings

Jeremy Sowers - had a bad year so could get him cheap

Ian Snell - once again, bad season makes him slightly cheaper

I know these trade values are probably way off, but they are all cheaper than Peavy.  Who would you want?

Talking Chop another possibility

As of right now we are still sitting with the 6th pick of next year's amateur draft.  That number could change depending on the Pedro Alvarez/Eric Hosmer situation.  If Alvarez goes back into the draft pool next season do we take the Boras client?

Another name moving up draft boards is Mike Minor, LHP from Vanderbilt.  He went 3-0 with an ERA of .64 this summer.  He looks to be Vandy's ace this upcoming season and could post Price-like numbers.  Depending on how we finish the season, Minor could fall to us.
