Beergut thinks Tech should go to the MWC because it would "benefit" the state of Texas

The new author is obviously trying to piss off the entire Tech fanbase with his clever comments.

This was sent to me today by Tech. It's nothing new but something else to pass the time with.

Double-T Nation Ticket Selling FanPost for the Week :: 09.29.09

Seth, I went ahead and posted this week's Ticket Selling Fanpost and copied your rules from previous weeks.  I hope that's all right.

Only a few rules.

1. No ticket brokers.

2. This is not a place to try to make money, either face value or lower.  We're here to help out other Red Raiders.

3. Once you've found a buyer, trade contact information and get it hooked up.

Go Red Raiders!

Double-T Nation Tech Removed from Accreditation Probation

I loved when a few people twisted what happened and said that Tech was no longer accreditated with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.  Glad the paper work snafu got cleared up though.  GO TECH!

Double-T Nation Some Advice from Baylor to A&M

This is a great and relatively short article that starts out talking football in Texas.  It then goes on to include a section written by a Baylor fan directed at A&M fans/alumni on how to handle being the worst team in the Big 12.  A good read and some of the tactics suggested are spot on to what we've seen.

Double-T Nation Phil Steele Picks Tech to Win (again)

Phil Steele picks Tech to win this weekend against OSU.  He has picked us to win the last two games (Kansas and UT) so lets hope he is on the ball again for the 3rd week.

Phil Steele Top 25 Picks

Half of the reason I'm putting this up is also for myself, I did it last week and we won so you bet I'm gonna do it again.

Double-T Nation Tech Gets Another Recruit

Romario Cathey, a 6'3 270 pound defensive tackle out of Maplewood, TN committed to Tech.  I wasn't able to check (no subscriptions) whether he was a three or four star recruit so maybe someone could look into that for me.

Double-T Nation Tech Recruitment

I was actually thinking about this last weekend after the game.  With all the high school recruits who were at the game, along with it being nationally televised, how big of an impact do you think Tech's win had on our recruitment?  DTN has kept us up to date with the two recent four star recruits choosing Tech (one even decommitting to commit to Tech).  I truely think this win will help sway some young minds towards Tech.  If we beat OSU this week, it should make Tech look like an even better choice.  I'm glad to see we're getting consistent three and four star recruits.  GO TECH

Double-T Nation UT Fans Acting like Aggies

I'm really really suprised by this.  I honestly did not think that UT fans would be acting the way they are.  Over at Burnt Orange Nation, I have read in one, just one, thread about how low class we are, how Lubbock is full of STDs, how a Tech fan came up and supposely slapped some girl that was with a UT guy for no reason (right), and finally how violent we all are, oh and we also throw batteries.  On Saturday and Sunday there was a lot of congratulations on both sides for an excellent game.  Could these people possibly just be the T-Shirt fans who have no affiliation with UT or what happened in the past 12 hours?  Just wondering if anyone else is noticing all this.

Double-T Nation Annoying Ads on SBNation

Is anyone else becoming annoyed with the ads on all the blog pages?  Like the kind that suddenly expand and take up half the screen and others where they hide the "close" button.  I hate crap like that.  Just wondering if I was the only one.

Double-T Nation Kansas Game Not Sold Out

Does anyone else think it's strange that the Kansas game isn't sold out?  I read this somewhere and just went to the KU website and went through the process of buying tickets and low and behold there really are tickets still available.  I assumed this game would have been sold out long ago, it definitely would have been in Lubbock.  What gives?  Either the Kansas fans really aren't that interested in the team this year, they don't think much of Tech, or they think Tech will kill them.  But if it was either of the last two you would still expect a sell out.  I'm kind of insulted.

Double-T Nation DTN Interfering With Work

Does anyone else find themselves reading DTN when they should be working?  I hope I'm not the only one.  This is obviously Seth's fault for having so much information on the blog and I blame him fully.

Oh 75 word requirement.  Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener.  That is what I truly want to be.  'Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer wiener.  Everyone would be in love with me.

Double-T Nation Tech Has No Defense

Kilt-wearing and Corps membership are connected, according to one Tech player. I guess this guy has never met anyone from Scotland? He's perfect for a Tier 4 university. The Tech players say they don't understand the Corps of Cadets. That's okay. Aggies don't understand why Tech keeps trying to field a football team without a defense.

I Am The 12th Man

The blows are already coming from A&M.  How can THEY make fun of our defense when their whole team is a joke?  It's like hahaha Tech can't play defense and even though we're unable to score or stop teams from scoring we're better.  Gag'em.

Double-T Nation Graham Harrell for ESPN All-American Player of the Week

Graham Harrell is nominated for the ESPN All-American Player of the Week (week 6).  He won week one and Crabtree won week three so lets give him some support.  If Harrell wins this, Tech will hold half of the spots so far this year.  This would be very good for Tech, helping us become more visible and well known on the national level.

Double-T Nation ESPN All-American Player of the Week

Michael Crabtree was named ESPN All-American Player of the Week this past week (week 3).  Graham Harrell was the first player of the week this year so we have two out of three spots so far.  Not to shabby.  Check IT out.  I wonder if this is actually due to his performance or rather more and more Tech fans are getting involved and voting in stuff like this.  Either way is fine in my book.  Go Tech

Double-T Nation Getting some love from UT

Over at Burnt Orange Nation they reviewed the Big 12 games this past week and Tech actually received some love.  We were even mentioned as having the best win of the week, even over the OU blowout which is nice.  Check it out.

Check out this link to Block U.  The author makes a point to drop Tech in his rankings because we didn't kill E Wash.  I started a comment chat with him and was curious if you guys agree or disagree.  Thanks

Double-T Nation How to open a Facebook account

Seth mentioned he had created a profile for DTN on Facebook and a group has also been setup.  I saw a few comments with people asking how to go about setting up a Facebook account and I thought I would provide a quick how to.

First off, a lot of people have the idea that by opening a Facebook/Myspace account ALL of their information is going to be available for everyone in the world to see.  This just isn't the case.  The only information people are going to be able to see about you is what you choose to put up on your page, this means you can do as little or as much as you want.

Having said that.  Opening a Facebook account is relatively straightforward.  You will need a valid email account and password of your choosing.  I think when you create an account it may ask you a few questions about whether you are a male or female and your date of birth.  It asks you for your birthday for two reasons.  The "fun" reason is that when you log onto your account, Facebook will tell you which of your friends (I'll explain what friends means in this context a little later) is having an upcoming birthday.  The more serious reason that Facebook asks for your age is so that if you create an account and are 30 years old Facebook makes it very difficult to search for minors (like high school kids).  I believe this is a good built in feature to help try and prevent stuff that made the show "To Catch a Predator" famous.

When creating your account it will ask if you want to join a network.  On Facebook a network can be a variety of things, all colleges and universities like Texas Tech have a network (I believe you have to be a current student of that particular school to join their network, but I may be wrong).  The DFW area has a network as does probably any city of size in the US (even Lubbock has a network).  Some companies even have their own network.  The reason for a network is that you can search for people who are in your same network more easily than someone who is in a different network.  Say you're looking for John Smith who is in the DFW network with you.  Well if you do a seach on John Smith you don't want every John Smith in the world to pop up.  Facebook will first show all the John Smiths in your network to make finding someone easier.  You also have the option to not join a network.  If you decide to do this you can always join one at a later time.  So no big deal either way.

Anyway once you have gone through that you will have the option to fill in your profile.  You will have different tabs labeled Basic, Contact, Relationship, Personal, Education, Work, and Picture.  All of these will have information boxes that you will have the option of filling in.  Under the picture tab you also have the option of uploading a picture.  Whatever you upload will be on your Facebook page and will also be provided when someone searches for you.  You can put up a picture of yourself, family, pets, a picture of a Double T or pretty much anything.  I would say 99% of profile pages have some kind of picture up so it would be something to think about.

Once your account is created you can do a seach for Double T Nation.  Seth created a profile for DTN and I created a group for DTN.  If you click on Seth's profile it will ask if you want to send a friend request to him.  This means you are requesting to be friends with him on Facebook and once he accepts or declines (but I don't think he would decline cuz that's just mean) the two of you would be able to see each others profiles.  It will show up on your page that you're friends with him and that's how you start getting friends on Facebook.

Like I was saying when you do a seach for Double T Nation a group should come up too.  The group is a global group which means anyone around the world is able to join it (say as opposed to creating a Texas Tech student only group).  If you would like to join the group when you are looking at the Double T Nation group page there should be an option below the picture to join this group or something like that.  Then you will be a part of the group and everything will be great.

I'm the other Admin of the group (my name will be under the Admin section) so once you find the group if you wanna send me a friend request that would be great and I could also help if you have any specific questions.

So sorry if that seemed long winded.  I wanted to try and be thorough because like Seth had said we could use the Facebook group to possibly get together for a beer or something on home games or because it's a Tuesday who knows.  Good Luck!
