It is time to make a stand!

NASCAR owns all the blame for the mess at Montreal. They violated their own precedent regarding letting drivers have their position back when spun. Boris finished one spot ahead of Robby at Daytona despite Robby making a pass on him on the last lap because he got spun. They gave Casey his position back after he got spun by the 6 car at Phoenix (maybe Vegas).

They say that Robby should have maintained a cautious pace to get his position back? Um, he was turned sideways between two walls in the chicane with cars passing him at the rear. What exactly would NASCAR have considered to be the cautious pace for him at that point? If staying where he was at until he could safely get turned straight WASN'T cautious, I don't know what was. Did they want him whipping back around into traffic to be able to keep his position? Color me confused but they penalized him for that a few years ago!

They say the field is frozen at the time of caution and they go back to the last scoring loop to determine positions. So how does Robby end up back in 14th when he wasd either running 1st or 2nd based on the last scoring loop. Even more curious is how people caught up in Harvick's payback on Pruett end up ahead of Robby if the field is frozen at the time of caution.

NASCAR can claim all they want that they suspended Robby for his actions related to ignoring the black flag but you'd have to be an idiot to believe that. NASCAR suspended Robby because he refused to bend over and take the screw-job they were giving him.

NASCAR continues to foster the belief that they don't judge based on the rules broken but on who broke those rules. NASCAR doesn't judge when to throw a flag based on an incident. They judge when to throw the flag based on how it best affects the outcomne they want. All drivers know it, only a few will admit it.

NASCAR has shown how they deal with those that are brave enough to admit it and/or brave enough not to put up with it. They fined the hell out of Tony Stewart and they suspended Kevin Harvick & Robby Gordon.

NASCAR makes themselves look bad week after week by allowing guys to walk with the lightest slap on the wrist for repeated cheating, hitting other cars in retaliation or for nearly hitting crewmen on purpose. They make themselves look even worse and like bullies when they severely punish guys who are brave enough to call them on their BS.

Rusty Wallace said on ESPN this morning, Robby got screwed " ... but you don't try to fight city hall." To that I say this, until more people try to fight city hall, nothing is ever going to change. Nothing has ever changed when people were sitting on their asses and doing nothing. Nothing ever changed when people towed the company line even when they knew it was wrong. Nothing will ever change until these drivers band together and they all start calling NASCAR on their behavior.

I know unionization never worked in the old days. However, in this day and age of sponsors and politics and money, if enough drivers, teams and sponsors made a stand, it would bring NASCAR to its knees. It's time for people to be brave and make a stand. At some point, there comes a time when talking about it is meaningless. The time for talking is over. Action is the only thing that will change anything now.

The issue here isn't about "he said, she said"

No matter who you think was to blame for the Danica Patrick-Dan Wheldon on track incident at Milwaukee yesterday, that isn't the real issue.

The real issue is Sunday marked the second time that Danica has gotten physical with another driver. In her rookie year, she poked Jacques Lazier in the forehead after an incident. Yesterday, she invaded the hell out of of Wheldon's personal space while trying to lecture him and then pushed him when he pretty much brushed her off like she was annoying gnat.

My question is, how many times is the IRL going to allow Danica to get away with that kind of behavior? NASCAR practically fines and places their drivers on probation if they so much as breathe on a fellow competitor wrong.

That said, my take on it is this: I think Danica would never bow up to and put her hands on someone, like she did Dan and Jacques, if she knew that they could and would take retaliatory shot at her without dire consequences to their reputations and careers. Her getting physical with her male competitors, knowing that they could never do anything about it, is akin to a driver leaving his helmet on while he picks a fight.

It's chicken.

The Official "Fire Greg Erwin" Campaign

Would someone over at Robby Gordon Motorsports get a clue and fire that sorry excuse for a crew chief, Greg Erwin? Please?

The #7 team finally found some speed in Happy Hour, finishing out the session, ironically, the 7th fastest car on the charts. So what does Erwin do with the momentum? Promptly changes the entire shock package for the race!

I know it happens to even the best crew chief but it seems to be the norm with Erwin. It's getting old. At least last night, he finally took some responsibility and admitted to being embarassed with their performance. Great. Now fix it! On second thought, stop trying to fix things that aren't broken.

Why the outrage?

Without a doubt, Jimmmy Spencer and his comments about Kelley Earnhardt Elledge were out of line. However, I don't remember seeing as much outrage when Kevin Harvick made his assinine comments about Teresa Earnhardt.

Why is that?

As a businesswoman, I find as much sexism in Harvick's assertion that Teresa was basically of the mind that she would just sit back and make money off the name of her deceased husband and her stepson as I find in Spencer's primitive idea that Kelley shouldn't have kept her maiden name. Yet, this morning, I found four online articles and two message boards full of postings condemning Spencer as a sexist pig. Meanwhile, the only negative reaction Harvick seemed to get for his comments was that he was sticking his nose in where it didn't belong.

One has to wonder why there is such an obvious disparity between the two. Could it be that the outrage doesn't come so much from what is being said as it comes from who it is being said about?
