Pension Plan Puppets A Look at Brian Burke's History With Coaches


After last night's debacle against the Edmonton Oilers, it is pretty clear that something has got to change with our beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. The crowd at last night's game was pretty clear on one particular change they would like to see, as 'Fire Wilson' chants rained down on the embattled coaching staff during the third period.

Brian Burke has repeatedly come to the defense of Wilson et al, but judging by the players' (lack of) response last night to the crowd calling for Wilson's head one would have to believe that the end is drawing near... Perhaps the most clear indictment has been the pleas for patience from local mittenstringers Cox and Berger, who have generally been very negative to all things Leaf in the past but inexplicably seem to have gotten their lips attached to Brian Burke's posterior.

Despite Burke's proclamation today that no coaching change is imminenet, I have decided to look a bit deeper into Burke's history regarding the hiring and firing of coaches, and to debate a number of candidates who may be considered if the Leaf job is suddenly open.
