"You have to give them credit. Their organization, their coaching staff, they’re classier than that," Bruins head coach Claude Julien said. "They don’t do that. I don’t think that they’d send messages because they’re eliminated and go after a team and try to take away their chances. I don’t think they’d do that. I trust my knowledge of Lindy and his crew to be pretty accurate."
Tuukka
"Tuukka Rask sustained a lower abdomen strain/groin strain and will be sidelined 4-6 weeks"
Definitely better than some of the alternatives... still not a great situation though.
Andrew Ference, a political opposite of Tim Thomas, on the Boston Bruins goalie's White House snub: "It's not like the locker room all of a sudden changed one day. It's the same personnel and the same personalities. We're all practically married to each other. It's not like there are too many secrets on viewpoints and personalities. Maybe it's interesting for everybody else to read on the outside. For us it's just another day. It's the same family we've had for the last few years."
Lupul and Lundqvist?!
ASG assistant captains.
Lundqvist is a stellar goalie but I don't get having a goalie as the A in this situation.
Lupul just makes zero sense... first ASG, no star-power and doesn't lead the league (4th, yes but still). Just makes zero sense to me.
Silly Canucks
Apparently a Canucks staffer has some unresolved anger issues with the Bruins...
You stay classy Boston!

No discipline for McQuaid
In a move that surprised many, myself included, the league's department of player safety has decided that no further discipline is required for McQuaid and that his major and game misconduct were sufficient.
Their argument does make some sense though in that the action was reactionary, not intentional and there was no intent to injure. Doubtless, the fact that Foligno finished the game with no apparent ill effect helped McQuaid avoid the hammer.
Now brace yourself for the return of Bruins-bias claim from the front office...

Kaberle to Montreal?!
Carolina already gave up on their prized FA acquisition and sent him to Montreal for Jaro Spacek.
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=382331
Spacek is on IR which tells you all you need to know about just how desperate Carolina was to get rid of Tomas. Cap saving move for them as well, as Spacek is in the final year of his contract and has a cap hit of 3.8M. Guess Montreal thinks Kaberle can replace Markov's expected production?
"I wish I knew," Julien said. "I really wish I knew. I guess when they announced the misconduct to Lucic, I just shook my head. I guess that was merit for being kicked out. That's all I can come up with."
Julien on getting tossed... really hope he is omitting something serious...
BRUINS BEAR IS BACK!
Video at the bottom of the PD article.
Not quite as good as past ones but I am not sure the 'Date within the Division' ad will ever be surpassed!
DISASTER
KHL team Lokomotiv in plane crash.
"Among the NHL alumni on Lokomotiv's roster as of Aug. 31: Josef Vasicek, Pavol Demitra(notes), Karel Rachunek, Ruslan Salei(notes), Karlis Skrastins(notes) and Red Wings goalie prospect Stefan Liv"
Wade Belak dead
"Wade Belak has reportedly been found dead in his Toronto condo.
Belak appeared in 15 games with the Nashville Predators this past season, racking up 18 penalty minutes. In 549 career games played between the Leafs, Predators, Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers, Belak had eight goals, 25 assists and 1263 penalty minutes.
The former Maple Leaf was set to take part in the CBC program "Battle of the Blades.""
What the hell is going on here? 3 fighters, 3 suicides inside of six months.
Sheer Awesome
I know this is off topic and in no way related to the Bruins or hockey but I just couldn't help but share this gem of a rebuttal!
Regarding fighters
I had a discussion with some on here previously regarding fighters and the impending death of the age of the 'goon'. My contention (and many others I am sure) is that fighting and enforcing is still an important aspect of the game but the players who fill that role must also bring something else to the table.
Sure enough, Scott Cullen at TSN comes up with a list ranking the NHL fights by their overall skillset! Now some of these listed aren't what I would consider fighters but the list still has value for comparing tough guys and assessing their overall impact.
http://tsn.ca/blogs/scott_cullen/?id=371668
I found it interesting and thought some here might as well. Unfortunately, I can't find Cullen's regular season player ranking in which he gives everyone a score (the same ranking methodology he uses in this article) so the comparison between fighter and non is harder to make.
Bitzy!
Assistant general manager Mike Santos confirmed that the Panthers wouldn’t make contractual offers to restricted free agents Byron Bitz(notes) and Steve Bernier(notes), allowing them to become free agents. The Panthers got Bitz at the 2010 trade deadline from Boston for Dennis Seidenberg(notes). Bitz played in just seven games before getting hurt; he missed the entire 2010-11 season after having sports hernia surgery.
So anyone else think we should bring Byron back into the fold? I certainly wouldn't be against it, even if only for more 'We want Bitz' chants...
Payback
Bruins fan redecorate's boss's office (Habs fan). Give the boss credit, he handles it like a champ.
