Free Tickets for Sunday's Game
You can get a free ticket for Sunday's game against the Braves. All you need to do is pretend to have a Twitter handle, enter a CC # (you will not be charged), and you'll receive a free Promenade Level seat. If you'd like multiple seats, click 'bring a friend' to take advantage of a BOGO offer.
Cyclones Game
I've got a ticket for tomorrow's game between the Cyclones and Yankees which is free again. Game time is 7pm. Let me know if you're interested. I only have the one, and it's first-come, first-served.
Free Cyclones Tickets
I got a bunch of free tickets for Sunday's Cyclones game vs, the Tri-City Valley Cats. If anyone's interested in going, e-mail me at aadaytickets (at) hotmail.com. The game starts at 5, so you can be home at a decent time for work.
Last Reminder for AA Day, I Promise
I still have 9 more tickets for sale for our AA Day at the Cyclones/Yankees game. I'm hoping that a few more people can make it; it's a great stadium, the weather Saturday should be nice, and you can spend some time at Coney Island before hanging out with a few AA vets. All tickets are $15. If you're interested, please contact me at aadaytickets at hotmail.com
Only One More Week Until AA Day
I just want to remind everyone that AA Day at MCU Park is next Saturday, August 6th, and there's still 10 tickets left. We'll be sitting in Section 8, Rows P & Q, which are great seat to watch the Cyclones pound on the SI Yankees (hopefully). Anyone interested in buying tickets, please contact me at aadaytickets at hotmail.com. They're $15 each, and all tickets include a voucher for a free Cyclones hat, and come with the opportunity to hang out with some of your favorite AA people. Who could ask for anything more? The game starts at 6, but the fun will never end.
Look what arrived yesterday. That's right, our AA Day tickets have arrived. Don't they look nice, just sitting there? Wouldn't you like to have one (or more) of your own? If you'd like to be with us at MCU Park on August 6, please hit me up at aadaytickets (at) hotmail.com. For the low, low price of $15, you get a ticket, a voucher for a free hat (pictured), and all the Cyclones/SI Yankees action you can handle. Plus, you get to meet AA luminaries such as myself, Russ, and Brooklyn Dodgers Mets Fan! How can anyone turn down such a deal?
Last Week for AA Day Tickets
Exactly like it says on the tin, this is the last week to get in for your tickets for AA Day at MCU Park, 8/6 vs. the Yankees. So far, we only have 7 people going, and we need at least 20 for the group rate. At this point, I may just pay for the whole 20 so people can buy them closer to game day, when they know their schedules. Once again, if you're interested, please e-mail me at aadaytickets at hotmail.com. And if you'd like to go, but not sure if you can, please at least let me know, so I'll know there's still enough interest. Tickets are $15 each.
AA Day Tickets
Is anyone actually planning on going to AA Day on August 6th? So far, I've only had one person contact me for tickets. I was expecting a much bigger demand than this, based on peoples' responses when I broached the idea last month. Just a reminder, it's the Cyclones-Yankees game on 8/6. We're in Section 8, Rows P & Q. If you'd like to buy tickets, please e-mail me at aadaytickets (at) hotmail.com. I need to get the full payment in by the end of next week, and we need at least 20 people going for the group rate.
AA Day Update
Just reminding everyone about AA Day at the Cyclones-S.I. Yankees game on August 6. Our seats are in Section 8, Rows P & Q. They're $15 each, first-come, first-serve. Once again, the new e-mail address is aadaytickets at hotmail.com. Hope to see a lot of you there.
AA Day Tickets
Okay, the tickets have been ordered. We have 25 seats for the Cyclones vs. the SI Yankees on August 6. The seats are in Section 8, rows P & Q, between home and first. Tickets are $15 each, first-come, first-serve. If you're interested, you can e-mail me at aadaytickets at hotmail.com, so I can send you the payment information. If Paypal isn't convenient for people (they do charge a small fee), we'll figure something out. We need to finalize our number of seats (we can still add/subtract more for now) and have full payment in 3 weeks before the game, which is July 16. Hope we'll be seeing a lot of you there! Edited because apparently, I'm not getting anyone's e-mails. Sorry guys, I'm not sure what happened. I've opened a new account with a different name. If you sent me an e-mail, please re-send it.
AA Day Game Options
Okay, my previous post about an AA Day at a Cyclones game has gotten enough interest where we might be able to get the 20+ people we need for a group ticket package. From the comments, it seemed that the August games were more convenient for most people. Listed below are the options for that month. Please, don't choose a game if you're not interested in coming, or already know you can't - I need to get a rough estimate on numbers. be advised that the SI Yankees game is going to be a much more popular one than the others; tickets are still available, but it's the one most likely to sell out.
AA Day at Cyclones Game?
In the past, we've tried to do a couple of AA meet-ups at Mets games, but it's always just been whoever's got tickets for the game. So I thought that we could instead try to go to a game as a group. Since Mets tickets are still expensive at group rates, I had the idea to try a Cyclones game instead.
I would later be very disappointed to find that Nick Evans was in fact, not starting in left for the Mets today.
Former Assistant GM Lou Gorman Has Died
Gorman served as Assistant General Manger under Frank Cashen from 1980 to 1983. His career in baseball began as a player for the Providence Grays in 1948. He held various executive titles for multiple teams in a front office career that ran from 1961 to 1993. Despite his Mets connection, we may best remember him as the GM of the Red Sox in 1986, the job he left the Mets for.
I'm amazed none of us has tried this yet
Two brothers and lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fans have sent an invoice to the team, requesting $17,347 in compensation for costs incurred rooting for the team, including an HDTV, tickets, and paper bags. Bonus: it asks for all questions to be referred to the Steelers' offices.
More Madoff-related Bad News
Because we couldn't even get one day to celebrate the end of the Luis Castillo era, Picard's latest filing claims that Madoff made an interest-free $54 million bridge loan to the Wilpons in 2004. In their defense, the Wilpons' attorney claims the money was returned the next day, when other means of financing were secured.
New York Mets' New Year's Resolutions
- Oliver Perez: With free agency approaching, help Omar find a new job.
- Nick Evans: Make sure to introduce myself to Terry Collins.
- R.A. Dickey: Continue being awesome.
- Luis Castillo: Rent, don't buy.
- Lenny Dykstra: Maybe take a financial management class at the Learning Annex
Ambiorix Burgos Charged with Attempted Murder (Again)
This time he's accused of kidnapping his ex-wife, and forcing her to eat rat poison. Holy crap, this guy is completely insane.
Rangers to be sold to Ryan for $581 million
The team's bankruptcy plan has been approved, clearing the way for them to be sold to the group led by Nolan Ryan and Chuck Greenberg. Although Mark Cuban outbid them slightly, the sale to Ryan/Greenberg can be closed much more quickly. So on the positive side, our razor-thin hopes of being saved by Mark Cuban are still alive. On the negative side, we just missed our chance to own a major-league franchise.
Your 2010 NL All-Stars
So, who do you think should make the NL All-Star team this year? Post your roster in the comments. Remember, you have 34 roster spots. You can name injured players, but you should suggest an injury replacement. Also, you can ignore the rule about each team being represented.
O's Meeting with Valentine
Let's hope this doesn't happen. I'd like him to still be available when Jerry finally (and deservedly) gets fired.
The old home run apple, in its new home outside the rotunda. For anyone who hasn't made it out to Citi Field yet, there's more pictures of some of the new additions to the stadium here.
AA Fantasy League Still Open
We still have room for 3 more teams. League 173899. The password is brainsocks. Don't let the draft time scare you off; we'll change it to fit peoples' schedules.
Endy Chavez signs with Rangers
Minor-league deal with a spring training invite, which I don't really understand. I know he won't be able to play until around June, but if he fully recovers, he'd be an excellent addition to the bench.
Name All of the Mets' Third Basemen
Yes, all of them.
Mets Minor Leaguer Dies of Heart Attack
Their inaccurate headline, not mine. He's been with our VSL team for a couple of seasons, but he hadn't yet gotten out of the baseball academy in Venezuela. Feel free to make your own jokes about how our players are now actually bypassing the DL now.
Why are you a Mets fan?
I don't mean philosophically, I mean how did you come to root for the Mets. Were your parents Mets fans, were the Mets your first exposure to baseball, or was it something else?
Livan to see time at first?
Since Shef's not going on the DL right now, we're down to a 3 man bench. Thus, Jerry says that should the need arise, Livan may wind up being used as the poor man's Micah Owings, except fatter.
Amazin' Avenue Fantasy League?
With pitchers and catchers about to report, that can only mean one thing: it's time for fantasy baseball.
